I just realized I know Ragyos VA from like 20 other animes.. Hanji Zoë from Attack on titan, Hitsugaya from Bleach, Edward Elric from both FMA series and thats just naming a few. Damn I'm impressed at her resume. Now that I think about it I can really hear the resemblence between them XD

Personally, I don't really listen to subbed animes closely enough to recognize the VAs. I know that in the English sub of Black Lagoon, Revy has the same VA as Gilda the Griffin from MLP, but I doubt that earns me many badass points here.

I've been picking up on the voices more and more. The Japanese VA's really put in a quality that's hard for the people that dub it to match tbh.

Speaking of KlK VAs, I got a ton of amusement to find out that Ryuko's VA also voiced Claes in Gunslinger Girl. Talk about incredibly different roles! Ragyo's VA I know from both Kaiba (which I haven't rambled about often here but I do recommend quite a bit. I absolutely love the visual style cause if you didn't know it was recent, they harkened back to the style of 70s anime so well) and Mawaru Penguindrum (which while not as dear to my heart as Utena, is still a series I adore and I was beyond happy to hear that Ikuhara was making a new series). The cast in general was another thing that really puts the series way up there for me. It might sound odd but there are definitely series where I don't feel the VA matches the character, but KlK's casting was just perfect.

On that note, as far as where I fall with subs vs dubs. It really all depends on quality for me, or what I watched first. Things like Utena, PMMM and Death Note I all watched subbed and it just feels awkward switching to the dubbed version. Now in the case of Utena... That's only vaguely excusable in the screwy dub production history (most of the cast didn't know the plot twists later in the series, so the first arc feels especially odd in hindsight), but even with that in mind I'll always prefer the original subbed version. Now Noir, that's one that I'll always watch dubbed because I feel the actors did an amazing job with it. I know I've said before that Tiffany Grant will always be Asuka for me, and her role in Noir is just as good, if not completely different.

Utena was a good. MhmbaSR1, I could definitely see that one being the type of anime your looking for too.

There are definitely some good sub VA's out there. Like Edwards English VA from FMA. But I'm just not willing to risk dubs unless I absolutely have to and that never really happens.

Definitely going to second that one for you, SR1. Since you enjoyed PMMM so much, Utena is pretty much one of the granddaddies of magical girl deconstruction anime. Well... the anime at least. I admittedly don't really care for the manga. It's yet another case of amazing music as well. I will say that if anyone does watch it though, please stick it out til the second arc (14 episodes in). The first arc is rather weak in hindsight but it does nicely lay the brickwork down for the amazing that comes later. Also, the filler episodes (roughly one per arc) are both terrible and wonderful at the same time.

Its actually one I wouldn't mind rewatching it. When I first saw it I was a bit too young to really understand all the themes in the series, not that I thought it was bad, I just didn't appreciate it as much as I would now.

Something I remember that I always found funny about that series...

There is exactly one filler episode, a single one I ever actually liked. That Is Naruto, episode 101 (NOT Shippuuden 101!).

Every other filler I've ever seen is pure crap, but this one was actually funny.

WAIT! Is that the one I think you mean? was that the one with Kakashi's face?

Cause if so you get a cookie!

Edit: Oh god, it was that episode :D  :D

2nd Edit: Attack on Titan anime has amazing filler, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was filler unless you read the manga.

I find it funny that Hitsugaya is such a popular character for someone who gets his ass kicked all the time. But I guess at least he looks cool as it happens.

I've been pondering rewatching it myself as of late to be honest. This is why my backlog never gets finished, always going back to series I know I love instead of working on what I haven't even started.

@Sim

Haruhi?

What order are you watching the show in?

Chronologically. I don't think my brain wants to start piecing things together like it had to for Bacanno :-)

Besides, I'm really enjoying it, and because of it, I've come to this conclusion.

Gay anime characters are freaking awesome. So far it's Akise Aru from Future Diary, the magnificent bastard Schnizel from Code Geass now its this dude whose name I can't recall atm since Japanese names are hard to remember.

There's a gay guy in Haruhi? I remember Koizumi invades Kyon's personal space a couple of times, but I wouldn't be so quick to say he's gay.

You will learn young apprentice.

And yeah, if we're talking about Koizumi I agree with Puddikoma, I don't think hes gay.

Oh I just realised what you meant by Endless Eight. And yes, it's pissing me off atm, is it worth going through all of them or could I just skip to the end?

If you want to achieve greatness you should watch all of them. If you want to wuss out then just watch the first and last one (also anyone in the middle, if your up for it).

So I just finnished Fate/Zero. I must say that I really enjoyed it! The ending was a bit confusing, but I overall thought it was well done. :)

What confused you about the ending exactly? Is it the whole thing with the grail? You know there's a sequel right (but its not nearly as good, they are remaking it this year though)

Yeah, the grail part was a bit confusing, but it was mostly because they kept changing scenery. Like for example suddenly Kirei is alive and well at the funeral of Tokiomi with Rin and her mother alive. Then he is suddenly back from the death with no heart beat. The whole thing with kariya etc. Just some minor thing. I understood the overall message that the grail never was what everyone expected though.

Huh, so apparently Crimea's new Attorney General, Natalia Poklonskaya, is extremely popular with anime fans. I the only one who didn't know about this?
