Watching the last of Clannad After Story with my mum. Probably the last anime she'll see in a long while. I'm trying to convince her to keep on going man.

Even if I know how it ends, I still end up sobbing anyway ffs.

Spoiler

God I couldn't hold that sadness any longer.

Clannad is definitely one of those things you just GOT to watch before you end up in the Dead Book.

Yeah I'm going to get my mom to watch Clannad too, she gets even more emotional then I do so I suspect it will destroy her.

I still start to tear up just by listening to the dango song.. >_<

Am i the only one who thought that those who go into the ground should stay in the ground in Clannad?

._.

Happy endings are nice and all, but come on that blatant resurrection trope?

It's funny that I'm more sentimental, but it still managed to get her.

And yeah, I was holding back the entire freaking time, and by holding back I just mean tears coming out of my eyes. But then that scene came out and I couldn't hold that sh*t any longer, man.

I can't wait to finish it off tomorrow. Jaysus man, it's killing me. That feeling you get after you watch Clannad After Story, ugh. I didn't need to go through that crap so soon.

Is this David Gaider, Dave of Canada, David from the land of heroism and characterization, or someone else? Perhaps your own Zach?

Clannad is one of those anime I haven't watched because I don't think I'm ready for that level of F*** Your Life. Another one I was looking at recently named "Anohana" sounds similar.

Dave of Canada of course.

David of heroism is someone who doesn't like me.

Not that the Canadian does.

But I pretend he does anyway xD

Don't Worry about the "**** my life" factor. Clannad is an EXPERIENCE. That's the best way to describe it.

The Mako pic was a nice touch lol

It's vague enough that it probably won't be a huge deal. It's just Clannad is one of those ones that's much more effective when you don't know what to expect.

She's a weird character, but to be honest, I'm glad she's the big bad. I kinda had a feeling that all was not as it seemed in the Academy, so it's cool to see that I was right.

I enjoy Nui more though, she's amusing :-)

I agree! Things are much funner that way, besides why limit oneself? On a somewhat related and yet unrelated note I find anime has really helped to broaden my horizons in a few aspects, particularly in what kind of genres I can enjoy and am willing to check out. I was not a huge fan of romance or slice of life animes a few years back, now they are some of my favorite genres.

As for Sakura Trick, its good, but in a very fluffy kind of way, which is what I liked about it (its a nice contrast to what I usually watch) I should warn you it has a ton of gratuitous kissing fanservice, and a couple swimsuit episodes that are slightly questionable, but otherwise its main focus is just on the relationship between the two friends as they slowly fall more and more in love without even fully understanding what love is. What surprised me most about the show is how well it wraps things up, the ending manages to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the conflict that comes up, I was expecting things to remain either unresolved or resolved poorly, luckily that is not the case.

One of the main 2 character, Haruka, amused me to no end. A sexual deviant if I ever saw one. She spends all her time at school and at home fantasizing about kissing her best friend and shipping all her female friends together, its hilarious how dazed and excited she gets at the mere thought of yuri :D

As for Akuma No Riddle, its already one of the ones I'm planning on watching as its airing. Me and my RL anime friend usually pick 3-5 series each to watch together and that was on both our lists so its definitely something I will at least start watching, and continue if its any good. I like the art style and character designs from what I've seen. I kind of wanted to check out a few chapters of the manga to get an idea of what to expect, but on the other hand I also like watching a series when everything is fresh.

agreed, I grew up in a rather narrow-minded/secluded area of the US, so I was constantly looking to media for other opinions/influences etc. I can definitely say that anime among other things has helped to keep me open minded. and being open minded is my mantra :D

about sakura trick: i don't like a lot of fanservice, but i will probably watch it anyway. and i don't mind 'fluff' since i don't think it hurts/helps the story, but at times when the anime has nip-slips and other gratuitous things floating around with no purpose to them, i just can't take the show seriously. unfortunately i can count on one hand the number of anime that take female love seriously :( that i have seen anyway

though if sakura trick focuses on the love aspect between the two main characters i should like it.

and if it had a really good conclusion, was it set up at all for a second season? i mean did it feel like that was possible, or is it a closed book?

i am really hoping that ANR will be good! i really like the premise, though i am sure it has been done before, it is still a good setup. and with the right amount of character development and romance i can really see this becoming an awesome show!

i saw a couple of your posts on chihayafuru isichar, and from what you said (about the main talking points of the series being character dev, and romance) i will probably really enjoy it! though i have to ask one question... does it leave you hanging at the end of the second season?

so isichar, who is your profile pic of? sorry, i really have no idea who that is :(

and when someone finds a good quality link for pmmm: rebellion online, post if for me please!

I love that song, and is that even animation? really, that looks way too good to be animation. lol

i think lana del rey is really one of the best unsung female vocalists (no pun intended), and i mean excluding the edited song that is heard on the radio in the US.

Sakura Trick could go on for a second season, but it wraps up the main conflict that came up in the first season, so there's no worry about it feeling like it leaves the story hanging. It's a cute story and if you don't take it too seriously you should enjoy it. Fluff is the key word here.

Just curious have you watched Strawberry Panic yet? Its much less fluffy then Sakura Trick, meaning it treats the romance a bit more seriously and has less fan service too. I ask because I think it may bit a little more along the lines of what you're looking for.

For Chihayafuru, the show revolves around the sport of Karuta and a club of high schoolers playing it in competitions. Each season covers one year of school, and 2 Karuta competitions each held annually. The first competition is the team matches and the second is the singles matches. The seasons basically end when the singles tournament ends. The show does not really leave you with any kind of cliffhangers, and you will get a good degree of emotional payoff, but its clear that the story is intended to continue on. So far they have only developed the romance and love triangle, theres being no payoff with that yet, but I get the feeling that it is going somewhere. Most of the emotional payoff comes with each characters individual growth throughout the tournament and how they resolve to become even better the next year.

What I love about the competitions is that no two characters is treated equally. Everyone has different skills, different strategy's, different physical builds and the show loves to emphasize on how anyone can play. Even though the story has a handful of prodigies, it does not like to exclusively favor one character over the others, meaning that the main characters can and will lose just as much as they win. Whats great about that is you get to see how everyone actually improves over time. By the end of a season you will have gotten to see that characters strengths utilized, but they will also see their weaknesses and have a clear sense on how to improve. Even the prodigies that are in a whole different league of their own somehow manage to grow and improve in their own ways.

Basically long story short: The Karuta competitions and individual character arcs get satisfying conclusions, but the romance is still unresolved. Which is fine with me because the show is bending over backwards to tell me that the guy I'm rooting for ain't going to win. The third season (if there is one) would cover the third year of high school. I'm unaware of whether it would wrap it up with that or if there would be more after that.

Oh and my profile pic is actually a character from Chihayafuru, her name is Shinobu Wakamiya (don't worry, pretty sure no one here knows it :crying:). She's the best female player in the series so far, which in Karuta is referred to as the Queen. She's pretty awesome in a bitchy badass sort of way. She kind of acts as the antagonist, but I use that term loosely since shes not really "evil" per se, more just as one of the main obstacles to overcome. She can be a ****** though, the sort of character who if someone below her skill level were to ask her to play a game with them, she would tell them something along the lines of "I'm not good enough to play with you yet, I need to practice and improve more" in the least humble way possible.

(P.S. Shes holding a card with a love poem on it, pretty sure most people are going to mistake it for a cellphone or something :pinched:)

And yeah, fingers crossed on ANR. That and Mekaku city actors by shaft are my 2 most anticipated ones coming up.

So I finished it...

That was one hell of a ride. I never expected THAT from the first two episodes I saw. It went to amusing, to enjoyable to fan-f*cking-tastic. Trigger seriously has the potential to make some god-tier anime, is there anything more from then at Kill la Kill's level? Because as much as I enjoyed Attack on Titan, it was no where near as fun as watching Kill la Kill.

Spoiler

Uggh -.-

Now to go through post-awesome-anime feels. You just don't stop thinking about it until you freaking move onto the next.

Oh well, the OST is fantastic too

I have no idea what the rapper is doing but I'm glad that part never showed up in the series.

Don't worry, I also watched the show and knew right away who she was.

I prefer the chubby version though.
