I enjoyed the Persona 4 anime, one of my biggest praise was the art style though. The characters looked much better, plus certain scenes like the battle with Yukiko I felt where handled better in the show then the game(which makes sense considering both are different mediums and have to tackle this thing differently)
Also makes sense somethings where cut or changed because they have to condense a game that is pretty dam long, not to mention alot of content in P4 was optional.
Huh. Thanks kindly for the write-up Dean! I am rather curious how they handle one of my favorite visual points in the game
SpoilerMost of the complaints I heard were on a forum I was a part of years ago and it seems like they maybe wanted a shot for shot version of the game in anime form. I admit that I am super pleased at the idea of proper interaction between Yu and Nanako in general.![]()
I'll more than likely end up checking it out at some point, save with the P3 movie that's due out! :3
I couldn't say- I left overseas right after the summer mid-point, and and never got around to going back to finish it. Plus, I have my own head-canon/fanfic of how Persona 4 should have worked, which has always left me with my one true end- the Bad End.
No, seriously- the first time I played through the game, I didn't spoil myself and let myself take the first Bad End. You know, That One. It was tragic, appropriate, and such an utter heart breaker- and then I did an entire New Game Plus rather than reload the save, and picked through the entire game again with increased stats and character attributes and carelessly let someone get killed, sending into a time loop two weeks back to do better, and it was an amazing experience to take my flaws and have to redo the time.
Ever since, I have convinced myself that the protagonist is stuck in a New Game + time loop in which resets every time the player fails, and will keep doing so until the protagonist solves the mystery. The reason you're so capable and familiar with how to get on your companions good side after that first playthrough? It's because you remember doing this all before.
Naturally, my own head-canon fanfic takes this to an even dark place in which Yu tries to exploit the cycle after countless failures and deaths at the hands of his friends around That One Boss, and it backfires horribly and amazingly and has a happy ending despite Yu being strangled to death being considered being a marginal improvement. (Because, for the first time in countless cycles, Nanako lives.)
