But really what did you find stupid about One Piece? I mean it's above Naruto and Bleach in the sense that it has no plot holes or retcons, and you know has good writing.

I just didn't like the pace of one piece.  There isn't really a plot other than getting to the grand line but it seems like that will never happen. That, and it's too cartoony for me.

Why do you think I hate most anime? And yes it is a good point. If something is sexist, really sexist and/or pointless I have no reason to like it.

What about the story did you find stupid? What characters and why? There is no single art style for the show. What did you hate about the opening? and what does that have to do with the quality of the series? Just skip the opening if you hate it, I do that with tons of shows.

Well I think the fact that the anime "sickens" you is a bit unhealthy, but then again it's a Toei anime.:happy:

So far I don't think you have any real reasons for the hating the series, other than "just cuz". Not that I have a problem with that most of the time, but I do have to wonder now, how far did you get into the series?

@Arch there was only ever one time the pace was bad, the Fishmen Island arc it was far too fast with the pacing. And they have been on the Grand Line for 577 chapters and about 500 episodes, it happened over ten years ago in real time.. The plot is the adventures and the dreams of the Strawhat Crew, but it still haa a ton of sub-plots as well.

As for it being cartoony? That's a shonen gag/battle/adventure thing, Dragon Ball, FMA, Toriko and D. Gray Man. They are made for kids, so yeah.

Oh also just to add, the manga is far better than the anime.

Since this topic was bumped. I just wanna add.-

I suddenly got hooked onto this anime called Ergo Proxy since full episodes are on youtube thanks to Funimations channel. Weird stuff! Makes me think of humans or Quarians coexisting with Geth in the same society, but there's something weird going on. Don't spoil pls as I'm only a few episodes in!



I like the dark style and imagery.  And Re-l is pretty.  I like the character design, no big eyes, as is seen in many anime.

Yes, I hate it. I think everything about it is dumb. It baffles me that it's popular, same as Bleach and Naruto. I don't even like Dragon Ball. I know, I'm a horrible person.

Who's defensive? Did say I love it? We are having a discussing about something you dislike and I like to know your thoughts on why you dislike that something. That is all.

Now it's not hard to get why it's Japan's most popular manga. It's got fun adventures, nice heart to it, some good art, great characters that kids look up to and love, adults love that stuff too because they get nostalgia for things like the good old day of shonen manga. Oh I guess a lot of the adults were kids when they started reading it.

Bleach is not popular anymore and Naruto is, but it's been a mess for years. As for Dragon Ball, I don't know what Dragon Ball have you seen or read? I mean Journey to the West is kind of important to Asia you know?

And you have a sig that says "I'm just a white boy who likes to pretend he's Japanese". That's one of my pet peeves but it's got nothing to do with this discussing.:innocent:

I LOVED Ergo Proxy! The opening is really well put together and the atmosphere is incredably detailed.

Vincant Law is hands down one of my favorite anime characers.

Tbh for years i didn't read One Piece because of it's art style, in which i considered too goofy for my tastes. I forget why but i read the chapter with Nico Robin's backstory and i was surprised at how dark the story was despite it's art design.

Also what do you think about Toriko?

The bolded is the answer to your first question. You don't have to say you love it with those exact words, but you obviously do because you continue to praise it like it was sent down by God.

That's completely irrelevant. You brought up me saying "sickens", so when I said it was a pet peeve, I was actually staying on topic. It was in response to something YOU brought up. You just felt insulted, so now you're insulting me back, and you're no longer talking about the same thing.

So yes, I suppose you were right. Saying my sig is a pet peeve of yours DOESN'T have anything to do with this discussion. Bravo.

Oh I do like the series but there are much better manga out there. And I said that as reasons on why the Japanses love it so much. It's the same as saying why Naruto and Bleach were are popular in Japan, fangirls love pretty boys even when they are not pretty.

But what "Dragon Ball" have you seen? I mean in Japanese or English? anime or manga? Do you want me to go over why the Japanese like it?

The "sickens" and sig thing was me just being an ass(never felt insulted though), so yeah I give you that and I will say I am sorry for that one.

On a completely unrelated note. I've been watching a show called Shiki on FUNimation channel. Five episodes in and it's quite good. Some really creepy scenes too.

Of course One Piece has fangirls, I mean Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Law, hell even Usopp and Franky have them. When you have a fandom that is as large as, well Japan it will have all kinds of fans. I was just talking about the simple everyday fan since they are the majority, without getting into the hardcore fans such as fangirls. Go to Japan see for yourself.

It's not really like COD because not everyone plays COD. I was not kidding when I said One Piece's Japanese fandom is almost the entire country of Japan. Look up how many copies of the volumes are sold.

And yeah you should not like something because it's popular, that is just dumb. As for you not thinking it's well-written, that goes back to me asking why?

Dub and anime Dragon Ball is not real Dragon Ball.

C'mon Kakashi and Obito are not that bad (even though Kishimoto reduced Kakashi into Akatsuki's punching bag for half of the manga), but Itachi, Sasuke, and Madara made me hate the sharingan.

Gai, Lee, Raikage and Bee. I like them. Oh and Gaara before the stupid retcon with his dad, Zabuza and Haku before they became zombies, Hinata before she told Naruto she loved him, you know? Where Naruto more or less stopped talking to her after her Cyborg 16 moment of love.

@The Hierophant Kakashi was cool before he died and came back with that stupid "I don't want to be Hokage, but I guess have to..." gag. The moment it turns out Obito is Tobi(and he is, if not it's just a no name...) I will hate him.

And Itachi can't even tell his little bro the goddamn truth about that stupid bullsh!t with ma and pa Uchiha.

Tobi being Obito would make no sense seeing as Minato didn't recognize his voice, and Tobi was taller than 14 year old Kakashi during the Kyuubi attack flashback.(Please Kishi don't do this...lol)
