Anyone here watch Bokurano? It's pretty crazy so far, four episodes in. If you like your anime a little bit rawer, then you'll like this series.

I'm not going to go through this entire thread to make sure someone hasn't suggested it - because I'm sure people HAVE. It's an incredibly new and very popular anime so I'd be shocked if other anime fans haven't seen/read it yet. But if you haven't, give the first episodes a go. If you aren't emotionally invested in it by then, well... then I guess you're not a human being.

Any of you guys know some long-ass shounen/slice of life manga that's complete and actually pretty good? All of my list is ongoing and after I finish Akira in like 45 seconds (because it's so short) I want to start something big.
However, most of these long-ass mangas are freaking ongoing and will be for the next 20,000 years.
P.S When I say long-ass I mean 100-200 chapters, nothing too huge like One Piece.

My girlfriend introduced me to Attack on Titan. It is the best thing since Game of Thrones, to me. I hope Wit Studios hurries and gets Season 2 ready.

It's great, don't get me wrong. I LOVE the thing, but sadly, some of the anime community prefer it when things aren't liked. The end result: tons of "Meh, it's overrated, Cowboy Bebop is better" comments. Which is pretty stupid since its a known fact that Cowboy Bebop is better than a ****** from Jennifer Aniston. xD

There're now only 4 episodes left for me in FMA:B, kinda bittersweet to be almost done with it but bajeeeeebus have it been a blast. Especially the last few episodes, so much awesome that it's hard to contain and enough awesome for me to absolutely consider dropping responsibilites. First thing when i get home tomorrow is to finish this. Mustang deserves it!

What did you think of 61?
P.S the end of 62 is sooooo freaking bad-ass and emotional at the same time.
End of 63 will make you tear up a LITTLE... depends...
End of 64 will just make you cry because you know it's the END of FMAB. Like, you'll never see anything new... it's soul-crushing... that's why I have a love/hate relationship with Tolkien's works ><

Ok I'm still on my 3rd playthrough of 999 and I picked doors [4] [7] [1] and I got to say Clover has gone from being a character I was indifferent towards to one of my favorite characters in this game. She's had one of the most emotional moments in the game and so far has had my favorite piece of dialogue with the Ship of Theseus and the Lockes Socks conversation. There's really not many games would be capable of impressing me this much after having already completing it twice...

The first dub epsiode of Attack on Titan is there on kissanime.com if you guys are interested.
I'll need to see just how much those 2min clips represent the quality of the dub as a whole. As you know, I wasn't really impressed by them.
So I skipped through it, and looked at the important bits, you know, like the end of episode one...
Oh god... this dub... I've seen hentai dubbed better than that.

I have walked in on too many EVA flamewars to actually participate in one.
Fair enough. : )
But my point was more stemming from that it's a bit absurd how series are meshed into genres with only facets and very superficial traits of em. It has mechas and children, so it's a "children ride mechas series", just as Gundam!... No. A series isn't defined on facets, it's defined on what it tries to convey.
So I'm really having a hard time handling the simplistic recommendations on most sites that deal with these.
If I'm looking for an anime like Neon Genesis Evangelion, I'm not looking into some "RahXephon" or whatnot. I'm looking for an in-depth classic-to-be, and for the feeling of it, like the existential conflict, and a bleak, sad, armageddon-type beauty. With cricets.
By the way, can anyone recommend me something like Witch Hunter Robin and Ergo Proxy? (these series are of similar type, for example - as are the well-paired Texhnolyze and Lain of a kind - it's mostly how it's all conveyed, from this stems what's conveyed, not from a taxonomy of beasts and disorders and classification of animations that appear)
I'm in the mood for some slow, silent yet quite smilingly sad type of anime with ennui-fated yet introvertedly alive to passion characters contemplating and watching leaves fall and whatnot. Could be besides an armageddon or the likes. Doesn't necessarily have to be vampires or dystopias or robots (that's completely irrelevant). Just something that feels alike WHR and EP.
Just found a baseball series that kinda goes there. One Outs. Though I'm afraid that's for its first episode only, and most imminently the OP. Not quite so for what's and how's animated though. If they'd have a more personal approach, with more personal and *human* portrayal, it'd be similar in the mood.
PS Oh, and that's a really important personal preference in anime - a so-called personal approach, not just things "objectively" happening, without anyone of a brain or soul aside or in the centre of witnessing.

Browsing through anime-planet.com's recommendations, some give pretty ok references. I'll check out Strait Jacket.
Also, I agree with the reviewer saying Witch Hunter Robin is (a bit) similar to Scrapped Princess. Quote on quote: "Shannon and Amon, in their quiet intensity are an aspect that make these two, with greatly different plots, have a similar feel."
Quiet intensity in characters is pretty great. Non-stupid intensity overall really.

Episode 61.. where does one start when describing this single episode. I can easily write essays about it and just how it resonated with me. But i'll keep it simple and say.. the best episode that i've seen in a long time, possibly ever. That track you talk about with what's happening.. unnnng

Just finished FMA:B! Episode 62 was really awesome but 63.. feels. Dem feels! Absolutely one of the more emotional episodes and it did evoke a misty eyed me. The ending to that episode was spot on. Then episode 64 really do a great job of rounding up this adventure and after some really strong episodes it treat the viewer with care because after episode 60-63 i sure wasn't the most tranquil person. FMA:B lived up to and beyond everything that i had been told about it, it's not often it happens but when it does it really stick with me. Now i'll have a hard time finding something to take this vacant spot, almost impossible to fill but the last episode did tell me something that i will follow.

Puddikoma: Yeah, funny story on that... Isi. don't read this spoiler. I'll make the joke to you after once you're finally done. X3
As for my viewing patterns, getting down to the last three episodes of Shinsekai Yori now. I can say that it's one of those situations where it saddens me to know that my time in the world is almost up. On the plus side though, the fan translation for the novel is coming along nicely, so in time I'll be able to check that out. I'll probably end up finishing the series tonight so either then or tomorrow I'll write something up about it.

I have to scoot away from my computer for a few hours and phone typing makes me extra derp so I'll wait a little bit to give some proper thinky thoughts on your post Puddi, but don't worry, you'll be left to your own devices as far as worrying about how VLR will mess with things. :3 With that out of the way, sure I can't speak for everyone but please, bother away! The game is super dear to me so I generally love hearing people talk about it. There's a really clever storytelling point that I want to quickly bring up (Whole picture after the true ending spoilers follow):

Just sad really, like you said there are some really good dubs, and some anime like GL where some characters where better in the dub(others better in the sub) then we have **** like this dub that just give dubs a bad name.
