Just got back from my anime convention. Any guesses as to how much money I spent? XD

 

Man it was soooooo busy. 35 bucks to get in and yet I still spent hours just waiting in line to see the vendors and once you get in your shoulder to shoulder with other people, its too much for a poor introvert like myself to handle

 

So AoT was probably the biggest anime at that entire event, half the people were cosplaying as it and every 2nd vendor was jam-packed with AoT goods. Not one single thing on SSY though... not even a freakin pin. All I can say is ugh.

At a con, Travis was asked if he was angry at Bailey the day he had to voice that scene in FMAB, it erupted in laughs, which then resulted in Bailey trolling him after she voiced the scene(she did it first) so she called him up and said you killed me in her Lust dying voice.

I'd be thrilled. But I'm an AoT fanboy (even if I do think the pacing's a bit off.) But to have half the vendors filled with AoT stuff is a little overboard. Still, conventions are freaking awesome, the one you went to was in America, no? Well that must have been 10x the one I went to in Spain, but I had a freaking awesome time there.

 

So, what did you buy?

 

Exactly. I loved AoT but after 20 vendors of selling the same things you just sort of get sick of it. The convention I went to was in the majestic lands of Canada, and I'll tell you... its grown a lot since I remember going to these things as a kid, I remember when there use to be a few hundred people going to these things, now theres thousands..

 

I bought about 10 posters. 3 Mass Effect ones (one of each of my favorite characters: Garrus, Liara, and Tali) 3 KLK ones (One fight club Mako, one of Satsuki and Ryuoko dueling with a glorious close up of Satsukis butt and lastly one water-painting of Ryuko in Senketsu) 2 of the Legend of Zelda (one of Link facing off against dark link and another of just Link) 2 Madoka Magica posters (One of Sayaka and Kyoko together and another of just Madoka, admittedly I wanted more PMMM ones... ah well). I also bought the 3 Puella Magi Madoka Magica Different Story mangas and a PMMM mousepad. There was 1 other thing I bought buuuuut... I can't say what it is

 

I was really hoping to find some OST's or SSY related goods but no such luck there. KLK didn't have much in the merchandise vendors (probably because it was just released recently) but had tons and tons in the posters and artist vendors.

 

Btw just 4 more episode of Anohana left. I'm going to be finishing up this morning and then starting SKU.

I went over to a friends house and binged 9 episodes of A Certain Scientific Railgun season 2 the sisters arc. I haven't seen the first season or the other series it was originally based off of but I did rather enjoy what I watched. The animation of the version we watched was easily at Madoka Magica's level, and the opening is one of the best I've seen in anime. I'm not particularly bothered by the almost all female cast, and I'm mostly willing up put up with girls throwing grown men around like nothing, but this one girl looks like shes a 12 year old rich girl and shes supposedly a weapons expert? lol wut ? Apparently she's a martial arts expert too from what I can tell... My friend pointed out that often in anime you have children that are amazingly strong, which is true although I can understand them just being "naturally strong" more then them having mastered all these things. Its like if you saw a 12 year old doctor working in a hospital, it just wouldn't make any sense.

 

We didn't finish the arc but what I did see impressed me for the most part. It's one of those shows that has a "Oh **** just got real" moment which I like when pulled off well. I'll probably watch a bit more after SKU.

I would mention Gunsliinger Girl as another series where there are unusually physically strong younger (12-15 if I remember the ages right, been a while) girls but... there's a reason for that. At some point I do want to re-watch season 1 of that and finally make it through Il Teatrino (I was mostly watching fansubs of the latter way back when), but that will probably come in time.

Just got done with Ghost in the Shell, and man, one heck of a serie. The whole philosophical aspect was excellent. The plot just kept me on the edge of my seat, especially the final episodes.

 

I recommend it to anyone who loves Metal Gear and/or Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

 

9/10.

Just finished Anohana. Like Clannad I'm not sure how to even judge these super emotionally charged ones tbh but this was definitely an incredibly solid watch. I admit tears were shed for the majority of the final episode. I'll admit, the wish was a good down to earth sort of one, and no I wouldn't have guessed it.

 

Poppo's scene was probably what really started to get the emotions flowing for me, and then everything after that was just keeping them floating.

 

I'd say its better then Clannad in a few ways, especially considering my bias towards shorter series, even though it didn't quite destroy me emotionally the way one certain scene in Clannad managed to.. I just like how it was short, sweet and straight to the point.

In the convention I went to, my buddy got a Kyubey doll for his girlfriend. It's soooo cute and evil at the same time xD it stares into your soul and offers you weed for it.

F*CK YEAH! Ghost in the Shell! Go watch season 2 now, I preferred it a lot more to the first :-) there's a freaking awesome fight near the end. Yes, I know Ghost is more than just about the action. But this fight is freaking fantastic! xD

 

 

 

Aye, though Clannad does kill you, it really does make a huge gamble on its ending. Though I cry every single F*CKING time I watch it. I seriously can't even LOOK at it without crying, I'm still not sure if I even like the direction they took it all in.

 

Anohana is a lot more down to earth and manages to effectively portray the struggles of each character perfectly. In a way, it's a lot more deep than Clannad. And yeah, the ending just did it for me. I cried my eyes out with that. The music + everything within, it's really emotional and bittersweet.

 

The movie's aight, it's more of a epilogue, really, not worth being called a 'movie.' Think of it as a recap + extra bits

 

And Poppo is freaking fantastic, that guy is a legend through and through. The man was perhaps most at fault since he was the guy who could've done something to save her but didn't. In the end, he still manages to stay positive through-out, even if he's tearing himself with guilt. That's a strength you rarely see in anime.

 

A QB doll would just creep me out tbh.. Could you imagine waking up in the middle of the night and seeing that thing staring at you *shivers*

 

Yeah man, Poppo's scream in the final episode was the sort of one that just send shivers down my spine and cut into my very soul. I suspected that they would be taking him in a more serious direction before the end but I didn't expect it to be so... intense. I agree that the guy has more mental strength then you would initially give him credit for, living with that guilt for so long and hiding it the way he did would have crushed me, as it stands it seems like he could just barely hold himself together.

 

Ah... I like how you could have an entire cast of main characters sobbing onscreen like babies and me just crying my eyes out right next to them

 

There's a movie? I didn't even realize that, I'll have to check it out eventually. Although if it doesn't add much it probably won't be a huge rush.

I think that was probably my favorite of the bad endings so far. Now I just need the knife ending and I can move onto VLR.
