I'm sure crazy's watched that though xD

...

I think.

My mind is everywhere now ><

If sociology wasn't occupying 3/4 of my brain right now I'm sure I would have understood that.

Sorry, Chris. It's more frustrating than anything atm. My love for literature and analysis is having to be cramped in a f*cking corner packed away in a trolley and thrown into the abbys JUST so I can focus on that damnable subject.

IT'S NOT EVEN THAT HARD!

But the naaaaaaaaaaaames, dude, it's the freaking NAMES!

The ironic thing is, give me a Tolkien book and I can name you the seven sons of Feanor the next freaking day. It's killing me slowly. My life is this kinda stuff, but in order to pursue literature in university I have to put up with this sh*t for another month.

This is why I've been avoiding any anime REMOTELY similar to Ghost in the Shell and just going for the lighter ones.

You're studying literature & sociology? Right on. I'm studying Multiplatform Storytelling within mostly the cinematic medium. Good luck with the studying -- can't say I'll make my posts any less confusing whenever I review or write about a show, film, anime or whatever I've experienced in the future. They usually always become big piles of text because I love to witter on a bit too much.

For laughs I'd go for Ouran Highschool Hostclub then finish that off with the manga. Oh the dub is brilliant.

For something short and sweet I'd say Time of Eve. A really great anime, and only 6 episodes long.

For a GREAT Slice of Life experience with amazing characters, a great story, and elements of just about anything INCLUDING good sci-fi I'd say go for Planetes. I think the guys in charge of Bebop did that too. It has a good dub too.

For a feels fest WATCH ANOHANA! Clannad's there too, but I don't know if you've already seen that.

Ghost in the Shell - but I don't know if you've seen it. Perhaps one of the best out there and its dated really  well. It's hard to believe it came out ten years ago. Ghost in the Shell is the epitome of mature anime. WITHOUT the need for excessive gore or fanservice. It's reaaaaly good and the dub is f*cking fantastic too. One of the best dubs out there, I'd say it's on there with FMAB in terms of the quality of the dub.

Plus you have this legend

batou.jpg

Just look at his smile. It's so adorable xD even though he could kill you with one straight punch hahaha.

Since the manga is so freaking great, another good slice of life which is VERY different from the typical highschool stuff is Silver Spoon. It's from the same woman who did FMAB so you know you'll get good laughs. Silver Spoon was one of the best reads I've had in ages. It's a down to earth slice of life, but it doesn't forget its telling a very character driven narrative, too.

Cowboy Bebop - goes without saying. But I'm not sure if you've seen this one. You've probably had.

Errrr.... what else...

I mean, there's tons, but those up there will not disappoint you at all. Whichever you choose you're gonna have a great time.

inb4 Isis...

PMMM is a great choice as well, hehehe.

Again, sorry if you've already seen these. My memory is being used atm for useless school stuff. Don't worry, once I get these exams out the way I'll be able to utilise it properly.

That's a winning smile if i've ever seen one!

I've added those that wasn't on the list to it now. It's a big list!

The ones i've watched are: SAO, Log Horizon, KLK, AoT, Seitokai Yakuindomo season 1/2+OVA, Free!, Sengoku Basara season 1/2, FMA:B, Oda Nobuna No Yabou and K-On! season 1. So anything that has not been mentioned i've either not watched or can't remember that i've watched so might aswell watch it again if that would be the case.

Feels animes i tend to watch in chunks since i might aswell ruin my somewhat calm and stable self at once so i might save a few of those for June when i'm entierly free for almost the whole month!

The new Ghost in the Shell movie is pretty awful.

The 1995 movie is still tops of *everything*.

Walking Dead, the show? I didn't like it at all. I'd recommend True Detective for someone interested in the inner workings of sociology indeed. Looking forward to those discussions!

Then add Black Lagoon to that list of recommendations. It's dub is brilliant, its characters are brilliant, its setting is brilliant and Revy is just too hot for words.

I like the show, but not for the reasons other people might claim. Basically...

I just like zombies. xD

Sometimes it does things great, but then it screws up later. But in the end, it's mindless entertainment :-)

But I'll keep True Detective in mind for my 'watch after the hell hole that is anime' series. Arrow and a few others are in there too :-)

In which case watch Shaun of the Dead -- Pure brilliance with zombies for sure. Or alternatively, High School of Dead where you'll satisfy the need for anime and zombies in one package, though with pure shameless fan-service, George Romero references, and a story which isn't as much good writing as it is vomiting through a pen. It's entertaining though. :)

In fact, this review sums it up

Which sane anyone with a remote interest in zombie flicks hasn't seen "Shaun of the Dead"? It's bloody brilliant!

As for anime, am going to start Gunslinger Girl. As for why, I just found this song here:

And saw it was the ending song for that anime, then did a short peak what GsG is about and it peaked my interest. If anything, the anime will probably be worth it for the soundtrack if it's anywhere as good as this one song.

I do hope you enjoy Gunslinger Girl, Aotearas! I just mumbled about it here recently. :P Great series imho, and the soundtrack as a whole is fantastic. There's a manga for it as well that goes into a bit more detail about things and as expected, story bits were cut for the series. It's one I definitely plan to go back to again at some point and was a great mix of action, fantastic music and feels.

Isn't Gibraltar a huge ass strategic British naval base (most during WW1 to WW2) and exclave?

I started watching Dragon Ball Z as a sort of trade with my fiance. He always loved DBZ and I always loved Sailor Moon. So we agreed we'd take turns watching an episode of each. I still love Sailor Moon, but we ended up abandoning it and breezing right through DBZ. I never thought I'd love it so much. I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho after that but haven't gotten through it yet. I am enjoying it though.

Yeah...Yeah that's accurate.

But that repeated clip of Rei getting slapped did make me feel very happy :D

(The fact I have marathoned the series is something I'll never live down for various reasons.)

*Warning, The following clip has fanservice up the wazoo*
