Watched HSOD once, got a laugh, but I'll never watch it again. It's pretty much a one time action fest that's fun to watch once but after that move onto better things. KLKs "fan service" does not bug me that much because at least the characters are well written and fun to watch, HSOD is just as he says, one dimensional characters kicking ass while boobs are being shoved in your face.

There's also an OVA floating out there, which my buddy described as basically Soft-core porn..so yeah, gonna avoid that.

Isn't Gibraltar a huge ass strategic British naval base (most during WW1 to WW2) and exclave?
Used to be, yeah. But now it's a simple colony where military ships do come from time to time. It's huge as a base, but it's tiny as a settlement xD

I started watching Dragon Ball Z as a sort of trade with my fiance. He always loved DBZ and I always loved Sailor Moon. So we agreed we'd take turns watching an episode of each. I still love Sailor Moon, but we ended up abandoning it and breezing right through DBZ. I never thought I'd love it so much. I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho after that but haven't gotten through it yet. I am enjoying it though.
Hmm... I might give it a chance then. Been reluctant to watch it because... well... typical shounen stuff doesn't really interest me that much. But then again, it might be freaking awesome.

Yup. And it's on the list. But I'm binging Legend of Galactic Heroes before I do anything after those exams get out the way. I've had that on my mind for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

Since i just finished it i can safely say that it grows crazier by about 12000% towards the end. It's "sensible" for maybe the first 20ish episodes then it just get a lot more crazy by the episode until the final 3-4 where nothing was impossible

Ugh fine
If you do watch DBZ for the first time then - go for Kai. Its remastered and all the filler is removed (Which is a big plus)

*brofist* Growing up with LOTR was the best decision I've ever made... aside from buying my L shirt xD

I've heard that. But is the filler in DBZ that bad?

Yeah, sort of. But personally I wouldn't touch Kai with a 10 ft pole. Kai changes up the voices that I grew up with going on 16-17 years now. It also replaces Bruce Faulconer's work, or so I hear. And that's just wrong.

But he never grew up with the voices, so Kai is perfect for him. As for the Bruce Faulconer's OP songs - who cares? He can listen to them on YT and just skip the OPs in Kai.
Go for Kai, Sim. Just do it. The filler isn't worth you're time.

I have an image in my head of tiny people standing on my shoulders telling me what to see xD I'm still gonna leave DBZ 'till after Legend of Galactic heroes though. I've heard too many awesome things about that anime to NOT obsess over it.

Look at it this way.
The original DBZ has 291 episodes. DBZ Kai has 97 episodes. You'll be done faster with Kai than DBZ original. Think of the time you'll have left for all those other anime's ![]()
Also, I remember you talking about having issues with AoT's pace, am I correct? Well, in the original DBZ, it sometimes took 5 episodes for a character to charge up because of all the damm filler. Trust me, if you think AoT had a slow pace then you don't want to touch the original DBZ at all.

I wasn't actually trying to convince him to not watch Kai. I was only adding to the conversation my reasoning for not watching it. I didn't tell him to watch the original series or anything. I think I agreed that the filler is indeed a waste of time.

Hmm... 5 episodes for a charge up? :S
Yeah, Kai does sound more appealing really. If the dub is crappy I'll just go for the sub and that's it. If I love it that much, I'll go watch what I missed with Z.

Noooo, whatever you do, don't watch DBZ in subs. The dub is perfect.
