You think thats bad?
Try this

I do not think that's so very bad. I took Some Geth's criticism under consideration/fire.
edit: and the point was that the poachery and gluttony in Toriko is as much fantasy as the sexism in HotD. For the first Some Geth used the argument "it's not bad, it's fantasy" - for the second one I challenge his keennes in doing so.
So, for as much as I dislike
showing off sexist behavior, I dislike it in HotD (I do so) - and as much as I dislike
showing gluttonous poaching, I dislike it in Toriko. These "bad" things are not represented in the shows as
pure reality-non-related fiction. And thus my dislike for Toriko, which I base on the position that this type of poachery 1.)
is very bad and 2.)
is depicted in Toriko, is valid.
Though the fact the poaching or sexism or whatnot is not real as such does downgrade the relevant nature and the amplitude of the dislike.
Also, and more importantly, I'm fairly certain that shows like HotD would not shake the nowadays very strong pillar of a humanist understanding that sexism (in real life - as opposed to depicting it) is wrong. But the things that are bad about Toriko (which are also worse problems in themselves than sexism, imo), are not considered bad as strongly. Especially in Japan where they don't give a **** how the ecosystem (especially in the waters) works normally, they don't give a **** if entire species die out. Even in the west these topics are imo most crucial to grow aware of in the same way as we've come to awareness about sexism. Popular culture, depiction and any type of treatment of the topic has a large role to play in either 1.) mistreating the topic and by that holding us back or 2.) progressing it forward into normal common-sense ethics (as has happened with the awareness regarding sexism), especially if there's little to no actually relevant, weightful and widespread discussion about it otherwise.
Humans don't make the world turn. The rest of the world, however, taken as a whole, does so.
