Yes but how many Tokusatsu shows have you seen? Because that's what really matters here.
None so far as I can tell.
I did watch Power Rangers when I was younger but I don't think that counts ![]()

You'll be crying for them soon enough. BL has a twisted talent for dem feelz.
And it's still the best romance anime.
Yes, BL really managed there with me. Felt more feelz for them and everything about them than i've felt in quite a few animes. Bloody hell! An amazing arc with utterly amazing characters that i will not soon forget, they might not have been there for the longest time but they absolutely left an impression on me. Crazy and i like it!

Now that my hate and anger and hate once again is out of the way.
Power Rangers counts somewhat I guess. I count it. I also count that new American Gojira movie. But do go out and watch the rest of all Tokusatsu.
So that you can make another big ass list.
I like big ass lists.
We fail to see this as a failing
Well, 90% of the main characters were girls. So...

Again, explain how this can be detrimental to a story, I am curious.
I just finished watching Kaiba episode 3.
This could arguably be the most dead inside I've ever felt from a story. Although I'll say this: it was as brilliant as it was soul crushing.
The OST in this anime is nothing short of astounding. Frankly it may end up becoming my favorite OST in an anime.

So you don't like girls then? ![]()
Did someone say Tokusatsu?
So you don't like girls then?
Not when it looks like they're in a kind of Harem.
There should be some balance between male and female characters. In action-y movies and cartoons, the men have the majority of characters though.

So does it bother you when there's tons of male characters? Do you see that as basically just being a harem catering to the opposite sex? I ask because I'm sure there are woman out there saying the same thing.
I'm all for a balance but it depends on the context of the story as well, and I don't see it as being a valid complaint until you apply those standards all around.
It's incredibly frustrating how I have these stories I could write books on my thoughts about how amazing they are people completely dismiss any thoughts on it because the cast is female, it just seems like such a weak standard to judge something by on its own tbh, like we are just suppose to assume that an entire cast of females pretty much = harem.
We might like the same art genre but like different sub-genres. BTW, maybe I like girls to be in a different kind of genre or form of art...

So, I've started Haruhi Suzumiya after keeping it on the to do list for a while now, but so far I'm not captivated. I get the feeling it's one of them shows you have to care about the characters to keep going or it's just random antics of highschoolers. I really want to like it, but it just hates me.

How far are you into it? Are you watching chronological or Kyonological? I can say there's a lot more going on in Haruhi than just a normal high school slice of life.
7 episodes in. I watch it chronologically to the Light Novels. I know it's not just slice of life, I'm not a "teh feels" guy, that's why I'm watching it.

You do have to care about the characters, but that's true of pretty much any show.
Not shows with heavy plot focus. Hell, I watch some shows just for the interesting setting and world building (like Planetes or Index).
Kyon is fun, I give you that. I love characters who respond to absurdity with apathetic resignation.

but I'd be hard pressed to watch one where the characters are all unnecessary, forgettable, unlikeable, etc. even if the setting is interesting.
A good adaptation of the Foundation trillogy should exist. Now that would be a great show without main characters. ![]()

YES YES YES YES AND F*CKING YES!!!
I don't think anyone has thrown out these two anime in awhile, if at all.
Who else here has seen Tiger & Bunny, in which Kotetsu aka Single Dad aka super hero 'Tiger' aka 'King of Tsundere' gets a partner in a Japanese take on American superhero society?
Or Library War, aka Toshokan Senso, in which books and censorship are Serious Business worth having a private library militia for?

CGI bananas, CGI bananas everywhere. I'm a sucker for clever parodies, Tiger & Bunny and Samurai Flamenco are both among my top 10 list easily.
Awesome, as it turns out, the second OVA came out in February, I'd better check it out!

Asimov sci-fi story from cold war age? Its motion picture version will never happen!

That depends.
Is that one woman character sorrounded by young, sexy men who all fight for her?
Japan has an unhealthy obsession with youth.
And there is no worse type of anime than Harem anime.
Hmm, well if you don't like it after the first six episodes, there probably won't be any dramatic shift that'll suddenly make it good for you. It's just more stuff like that.
You do have to care about the characters, but that's true of pretty much any show. Shame these ones don't grab you, I found Kyon's narration and everyone's personalities to be pretty entertaining.
Watching Haruhi has left me with only a desire to strangle that witch.
