3 episodes is all it will take

 

I'm watching episode 5 and this series has become.. difficult to watch. This could very well end up being a 10/10 for me but god(oka) damn is it a hard one to recommend for a number of reasons, still its one I think is worth watching.

 

I should warn you that these are not the kind of feels you enjoy, but rather the kind of ones you can appreciate, if that makes any sense.

Actually its entirely possible you never trust a single recommendation from me again after watching Kaiba   Oh well, this series deserves a bit more recognition, so having another person that's viewed it is a good thing.

 

Thought I was listening to a parody for the first minute tbh. Why is it I can take the abridged version more seriously then the dub?

Watching Haruhi has left me with only a desire to strangle that witch.

 

My personal headcanon is that Haruhi has been retconing the past and changing all the other people so that Kyon would eventually choose her.

 

Everything disfunctional or preventing Kyon from hooking up with anyone else is a result of countless iterations of Haruhi failing.

Which oddly enough is why I actually enjoyed Amagami SS, which is itself based off a dating sim and so would normally be assumed to be trash. Only instead of trying to crowd in all the characters simultaneously, the format and continuity reset every four episodes gave every heroine a chance to be the heroine of their own route. You got a number of shorter stories of varying tone, characterization, and emphasis with a specific finale rather than one drawn out inconclusive mess.

 

I confess- Amagami has a sweet spot in my heart. Between predating the moe/extremely young looking character trend of the now, and actually having romantic conclusion, it's the only romance anime I can point to as having enjoyed as a romance series. Sometimes when I'm a bit too cynical and jaded, I pick a random character and watch young love that doesn't need epic drama or adventure or angst to come together.

I don't think it's really the Harem genre that is bad per se tho I will say most Harem series are bad. I have a soft spot for the Tenchi series.

 

It's the moe and incest pandering crap that sucks.

The first half of Black Lagoon: Second Barrage has been pretty damn amazing. Liked season 1 but compared to what i get to see now it stand no chance. The crazy twins and now Jane and the rip-off church finally got some real screen time. Heck even Benny got some "action", now if Rock only would switch out that criminally ugly tie everything would be just excellent.
