I'm not sure about the rest of it but the first part of that AoT dub Sim linked the other day was pretty bad, the ones with Pixis or w.e giving the motivation speech.

I don't even want to hear Hanji Zoe's English VA.. Nothing beats Romi Park /totalfanboyism

You seriously don't. I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOOOVE Hanji, she is weird, hilarious and badass at the same time. Romi Park got it perfectly. And it's awesome that she's Edward Elric.

 

I think I need to see a certain scene in the subbed version of FMAB just to compare it to Vic's. It's episode 26, the episode that had my respect for Edward blow out of proportion.

 

Watched it.

 

Prefer Vic's version but that's just because I've watched the f*cking thing 3 times so I immeditatley identify Vic's voice with Ed. But Romi Park was freaking amazing too :-)

Vic is Edward for me, just like Travis is Mustang ect, If I hear the sub I just have a brainfart, too used to the dubs cast. Not that Romi Park is bad, she's very good(only one role I did not like her in which is where Miss.Mysterious voice actress was outstanding in.)

Yeah, the English cast for FMAB were just brilliant. But I don't think I couldn't handle the sub. It's probably just as good, only a matter of just getting used to it.

 

As for your 4Kids comment... Imagine how they'll handle this dude...

But mainly, it's just that the VA is terrible. Forget the bad casting choices for some things, it's just the voice acting in general. Compared to other mediums, it's just horrible. They sound so forced and campy. It doesn't sound natural at all. The whole point of VA is for me not to realise they're acting, for me to get sucked into their characters and enjoy it.

 

The guys who deny L's brilliance are just the dudes who will flat-out refuse to watch subs. Like my gym-partner... the one's who obsessed with Freezing xD (though strangely enough he'll only watch Death Note dubbed just for L.)

 

And now I know what you mean... but I would never have noticed that really. I think I'll need another year of anime under my belt before I start having a sharper eye for stuff like that.

 

 

Dave Fenoy as Lee Everett = brilliant VA.

 

Whoeverthatdudeis as Eren = wtflol. Just compare his monologue in episode 13 to the subbed version. It's terrible.

Yeah just like most anime and the Death Note dub.

 

Whoeverthatdudeis as L = wtflol. Just compare all his dialogue in the whole show to the subbed version as well as every other role Kappei Yamaguchi has done like Ranma, Inuyasha and Usopp. It's terrible.

 

If you can't tell, I am trying to make a funny not that thought-out point here.

 

My true opinion on anime voice acting as well as subs vs dubs is this.

Yeah Alessandro Juliani is a great actor that's a fact. That didn't stop anime fans from calling him sh!tty tho. Because anime fans are awful. That's my main point here. lol

 

AoT dub has been fine so far when it comes to anime voice acting.

 

Papenbrook is not that great here I will give you that. He was good as Red tho. But it's easy to see why they went with him and the way they did. Anime Eren is very whiny in the first few episodes like I said. These guys cast based on the first few episodes. You do the math.

 

Josh Grelle has been the best one for me so far. Very close to how I hear Armin.

 

Mind you I have only watched the 4 dub episodes that have been on tv so far, as long as I keep watching it, by the end of the series I can tell you who was the best. I really don't see anyone watching AoT with the dub first and seeing anything off with it. They might hate Eren sure, but the anime itself didn't help with the filler stuff.

 

But anyways the dub is going to get more fans for the series and that's a good thing, so who really cares?

 

 

 

All this One Piece stuff here also makes want to bring up that Luci Christian is a very good Nami in the dub.

Just finished Black Lagoon: Second Barrage and it was absolutely an excellent watch. Good enough for me to find a new avatar that might actually stay for more than a week, crazy! It had good arcs with some very memorable characters and moments. Very happy that i picked up Black Lagoon when i did because what would i do without having meet Revy, Gretel and the rest. Crazy in endless amounts and some very good action sequences on top of everything and also an artstyle that i can appreciate makes me almost regret that i'm done so soon. Of course i got the OVA to soften the blow. If i gave out scores i'd probably give it a 9/10, it just was the right amount of crazy
