Anyway, enjoying Rin so far. I like the main character, and the fact that she's gay is refreshing. I don't really know how to put my finger on it, but what would be considered typical 'fanservice' doesn't really feel like it in, Rin. The setting is supernatural in the same way Vampire the Masquerade is, everything that is out of this world is really just kept incognito. So the unpleasantries and complexities of the world are very much there. So sex doesn't factor out of the equation, it's part of real life and so, it's there. It's no more fanservice than the sex scenes in A Song of Ice and Fire. It all flows naturally with the narrative and general setting.
It's only been two episodes, but the relationship between Rin (the protagonist) and her lover promises a lot more than just 'lol Yuri.' And anyway, so far all they've done is kiss, and even then it was 'off camera.'
I'm only focusing so much on that aspect here because normally 'ecchi' would put off people because they'll immediately think of Highschool of the Dead, but when what they're really missing is a good detective anime, mixed it with supernatural elements that don't make you scratch your head and say 'waht?'
Rin is also a badass xD
P.S - it's kind of hard to follow the plot at times since its in subs so reading + listening and paying attention is a lot more than just listening and paying attention. I forget names mentioned before since normally I'd associate them with language (if that makes any sense at all.) If they were to mention a Mafia gang in English, the moment that name is said again it'd trigger the connection faster. But that's something personal I lack, nothing to be worried about.
