Few things.
That is Luci Christian as Nami, not Ruff.
You got all the character names spelled right.
I agree with everything but I have never been a big fan of Toei's art style for the show and the pacing becomes worst than DBZ later on. If you are right with the Funi episodes, you are still in the mostly okay parts before the awful pacing takes over. But to be a little more fair to Toei, like with the Merry stuff, they did have their moments where they are great.
And the filler, the anime filler I would never call a selling point. lol But yes it is very much the journey, not the destination. And it really works with that in mind.
If you ever do have the time, do try to read the manga. Because better art style and pacing helps a lot.
I mean I know anime only viewers are not going to understand why the Skypiea arc is the best arc. Because the pacing did hurt it in the show.
Whoops -- That's right. It is Luci Christian come to think of it now, lol.
I think I worded it wrong. What I wanted to get across was that due to One Piece being a ridiculously long show it would inevitably lose me a bit because it would have to justify its length which doesn't always go well. It's a double edged sword in that respect. But it works because there's never really any grand goal, or overall red herring that signifies a beginning and an end -- The whole concept of the One Piece treasure is so obscure, and you could gather from things mentioned in the anime, that perhaps the treasure itself is a metaphor for the joys of adventure that is life.
Filler is usually never a good thing because it never seems to serve any larger purpose for corresponding main arc of any given show, beyond trying to distract you for a short while, until things that actually matter starts to kick off. Sometimes it can actually provide depth or a growth to certain characters, even if it doesn't advance the plot, but that seems rarely to be the case. One Piece is fun, because it's essentially the sort of show where you can just jump straight into one day where you're left with nothing else to watch -- It's not like it's a time-killer either because as we've established, One Piece, when it is best, provides plenty of drama, action and even comedy to at least provide the occasional chuckle, which would be enough to keep me satisfied at least. Although its length can also risk me forgetting certain stuff in the long run, and glaring issues of quality in comparison to earlier episodes can potentially become more apparent. At least that's my overall impression so far though. I'm sure you know more than I do it about it.
