So, I'm watching Toonami right now while I wait for Eureka 7 to come on, (Bleach is on now) and I can't help but notice how bad Bleach has gotten, even though the animation quality is significantly better than it was back in the first season.

Reminds me of a lot of western shows too. It sucks that as the shows begin to look better, they actually get worse.

I know it'll never happen, but it'd be kinda cool if they remade old episodes of shows using the new animation techniques. To see the old stuff with the shiney quality of the new would be pretty amazing.

That's the end of my rant.

The manga and the anime usually look the same. Companies that make the anime wouldn't get much money from those die-hard manga fans if they screwed up the art-style. So the reason my album has mostly anime pictures as opposed to manga is because it looks exactly the same, except one's in color.

The characters still look perfect, which is why I'd have to argue with you about it "not counting".

With the smiles it just looks like you're trolling. Which is why it irks me so much.

And I answer that with my statement above. It just always looks like you're trolling, and the fact that you usually take things literally. It seems like you're trying to pick fights with everyone. Especially in a debate. The only time people smile when debating is when they're trying to be snide.

An anime that comes from a manga, never 100% looks like said manga. But you are right they don't(and shouldn't) get money from the die-hard manga fans, since they do screw up the art-style all the time. You have even said the Bakuman anime does not look as good as the manga. So yeah the characters don't look "perfect".

Also the only manga pictures you have in your album are colorspreads, and the anime of those looks nothing like the colorspreads.

Anyway, my point was that you don't have enough manga pictures to show what is the "usually" style.

You should know by now, that I am not a troll and I don't troll(much). I don't really pick fights with everyone, I do point out when they say wrong things, but that's it. If it goes into a debate, that's fine I like debating.

"The only time people smile when debating is when they're trying to be sinde" You sure about that? I have seen people smile in debate for many reasons. Some people are just happy to talk about what they believe in or just getting their message out.

@J. Reezy True but this is the first time someone has said I "enjoy being difficult". I know a lot of people and they have said a lot of things about me over the years but never that. What do you think of me? No really. say what you want about my personalty, I won't judge you.

Of course it doesn't look 100% perfect 100% of the time. Now we're getting back into that "being way too literal" thing again. Most of them are pretty close though. Just look at Death Note. Some of the scenes in the anime look EXACTLY like they did in the manga. That was the point. They wanted fans to point and say "Fudge I remember that!" (or something less stupid, but you get my point.)

We'll have to agree to disagree then, because I think a lot of them are pretty spot-on.

My point is that the manga and the anime usually look the same anyway. Not 100% the same 100% of the time, but very close. Close enough to the point where you'd just be nitpicking if you chose to complain about it.

"Debating" and "discussing" are different, and I much prefer the latter.

No, people smile while discussing because they're happy to have a discussion. Debating is more a battle of facts and opinions. When someone feels like they're winning, or being smart, they smile. I've never seen any occasion that played out differently.

I would say none of them are close. Yeah some of the scenes are the "same", but the style is still more Madhouse than Obata. Its the same with Hunter x Hunter, X or any Madhouse anime that comes from a manga.

And yes it would be nitpicking to complain about it, it's why I am not complaining. I'm just pointing out they don't look the same.

But whatever I am done.

Like I said, I have seen people smile in debate when they can at least, get their message out. But of course you are right too, people do smile when they feel like they're winning, or being smart. Nothing wrong with that.

Not that this speaks for anime as a whole, but after watching Ga-Rei Zero I started reading the manga (Ga-Rei) and the art style is NOTHING alike. Now the anime is a prequel to the manga, but still, they look waaay diff.

Thank you. Being informed is something people have said about me in the past. My motto afterall  is "Read about everything, learn about everything, then you will have the power to find the truth in everything". A bit silly of a motto but hey, being silly is something that I hope is one of my personality traits.;)

It's really just that - throwing terminology around. I smirked and enjoyed it for the pretentiousness, though I kinda understand if people dislike such name-dropping (Derrida? Husserl?? LOL) and technical language usage.

These types of anime are good even if only for the brain function it envokes, doesn't matter really what they were trying to say (and they mostly do try to convey some very hazy, more felt than clear/narrative messages).

Some Geth wrote...
@eroeru Is it that interesting? You don't even know what my story is even about?[smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png[/smilie]

Yeah, I'm more interesting in what is conveyed in anime, in a meta perspective rather than the story or action or happenings in themselves. And your description sounds like a manga I'd enjoy, if well enough depicted.

I don't know about Ergo Proxy being philosophical.

In fact I don't even remember what happened in that anime. It didn't make any sense to me and that tsun-tsun goth girl didn't even get naked.

Yeah, it's really not philisophical in the strict sense, but it can very well inspire interesting and original themes and topics to think.

Well my story is just going to be a normal old book, but thanks all the same.

Anyway the review is coming along well(I hope), but it's really long so far. I hope a thread page can fit it.=]

The review of the first chapter is a lot longer than I thought it would be. It's probably because I am doing a sort of play-by-play of the pages, then adding my thoughts. :/

^^ Aah, yeah, forgot that you were talking about a book for a moment there. Sorry.

Sounds interesting all the same. :)
The concept of letting the boring guy live and having manga-like awesome characters die all around sounds especially intriguing, no really...

Maybe you can team up with a manga artist, or try making one "old book" like story into a manga (and I bet you can draw - so maybe experiment and try uploading it as a web-comic of sorts? Idk, just throwing ideas to be hyped about). I'd be interested and think there's at least some potential. Speaking of which, western culture really need japanese-like manga introduced to it. I mean, to keep the mentality, narrative style and whatnot, but to bring the art style, and deeper stories into it (Logan Cloud, up to it?).

Can you maybe recommend some manga that has more of a "literature" feel to it?

edit: yay for the review!

Thanks but that's not really my path. If my books do good, it would be nice to have a movie, show or comic book adaptation though.

Besides I really don't have the money to pay someone to do the art for a web-comic. Later I will give you a PM about the story, see what you think.

The Walking Dead comic, besides being in black and white has a manga feeling to it.

Any manga from my favorite list, has a "literature" feel to it. Like Nausicaä and Lone Wolf and Cub.

Am I the only one who thinks that having the manga in black and white makes it incredibly hard to follow? Especially in series with similar looking characters. I'd like manga more if it came in color. I'm weird like that.

Also that picture of Snoop Dogg doesn't really look like Snoop Dogg 0_o

As for the Snoop Dogg picture, it's a caricature.

Yeah, fair enough on the Snoop Dogg thing. But yeah, the only manga I've really ever been able to get into is xxxHolic. I find anime to be a more natural medium for the stories, even though I know they started out as mangas.

Watched a lot of Anime but stopped after Soul Eater of late. Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Samari Chapaloon, Grave of the Fireflies, Samurai 7, anything from the dude who made Spirited Away, Death Note, and a few others are really only the memorable ones to me. Stuff like Naruto and Bleach just don't appeal to me; it gets kinda confusing with so many episodes.

Also dug The Last Airbender but that's not really anime persay.

Guess I prefer anime that requires a little thought to watch instead of just mindless violence and boobs. Not to say that's I can't enjoy that sort of stuff but it gets kinda repetitive if you catch my meanin.

On that note, if I am going to watch animation it's going to be anime. All western animation tends to either be heavy computer done or poorly done hand animation. Anime is at the for front of this medium imo. Used to be Disney back when I was a kid, now that's all changed and that's fine by me.

Try other Clamp manga than just Holic, and then see how you feel.

I am someone who likes manga more than the anime adaptations, because I just can't take the bad filler and pacing. That and I like good art.

I just prefer animation. *shrugs*

Filler is skippable, therefore it doesn't upset me too much.

And what about un-skippable filler? The kind where they put it in the episodes that should be canon. And still bad pacing can hurt an anime just as much as filler.

Honestly, if I don't read the manga I probably don't realize when the anime is diverting away from the cannon while in the middle of an episode. Unless it's really obvious. Even then anime is just an adaptation. Somethings always bound to get screwed up in an adaptation.
