Just finished watching Squid Girl. Cute and fun show. Kinda reminds me of Nichijou.

Death Note? I kinda though Light had metric craptons of luck on his side. There was no need for L to expose himself. Or tell Light how he tracked him down in that TV reveal. He could have just used the same method to narrow down the search more and more, without Light ever suspecting he was being investigated.

I finished Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Anime has needed a show like that for a long time. It's one of those shows where the less you know about it, the better. 10/10 would slay witches again.

Almost reminds me of Evangelion, in a way. They were able to take a well-known premise and go in more creative/dark directions. The story structure hints that things are a bit off, but it's about the second half where it becomes far more apparent. Homura's story arc in Episode 10 is brilliant, and tragic. A Sound resolution, though not without bittersweetness. There's too much to talk about, I'll leave it there for now.

So, are you prepared for your precious Black Lagoon waifu to be insulted by my cynical opinion about inconsistent character development and pretentious moralizing, just so you could knight her and protect her honor and purity in a gentlemanly duel of words? At midnight. UNDER THE FULL MOON?!

 

I just couldn't like the gang, no matter how hard they tried. Rock dodges a bullet to the face point blank, then he gets owned by highschool girls, what the actual duck. If you view some episodes as fillers and disregard any of his weak ass antics, then he indeed makes a turn from naive newcomer to a character somehow adjusted to the criminal life in a proper character arc, otherwise he's just zig-zagging all around the lame-badass spectrum. Revy had no saving grace in my eyes whatsoever, she's just there to cause mayhem in hotpants. Her backstory is the usual basic dark story for female characters. I loved the side characters more, the CIA nun chick and the chainsaw girl for example.

 

And the other facepalm worthy thing for me was the constant lamenting about how dark our world is, while they do nothing exactly to improve it. I think it might be some message about apathy, but it didn't really came across the gratuitous violence.

Really glad you liked it and as xAmillion said, watch the Rebellion Story! It would be a really great shame to miss it

Might aswell keep writing these novels, if anything it's at least entertaining to write and gush over PMMM with more than gifs every now and then

Spent some time thinking about of course Kyoko because that will always happen and then thought about Madoka a bit and realised besides the little time they spent together trying to reach Sayaka in the series that they otherwise don't interact at all. Kyoko get quite a bit of time with Sayaka and Homura and i've read that she have interacted with Mami on numerous occassions in the past. Naturally it would be impossible to have everyone interact a decent amount of time with each other and i'm pretty cool with Kyoko and Madoka not interacting that much because in potential future content that it's possible that they do, or they don't but at least the chance is there and they both do care about Sayaka so it's not like they have no reason to ever see each other. Especially considering how close Sayaka is to Madoka and that her friendship with Kyoko is growing quite well. Once again i do have to thank Homura for being such fantastic character for reseting a lot of stuff and giving the chance for even more amazing things to happen and more feels to be felt. Without our lovely demon it wouldn't be possible so arigatou Homura!

 

Don't think i've really given Madoka enough praise for just how absolutely amazing as a character she is throughout the series and TRS. It's easy to get dwarfed in the company as the other Puella Magi but she's the beating heart of the group and it's impossible to not notice just how vital Madoka is to everyone. That she's in some sense still is "Godoka" give Madoka one incredible amount of importance in what can happen in the future. It's clear that status quo that Homura has achived through her "caught you" scene wont last forever and that Madoka will play a role as important as before if not even more important and against a person that she genuinly care about. Outside of all these things Madoka is a character that make being nice an actual strength that can be counted on. She doesn't own stuff by being the strongest, the fastest or the smartest but being more in touch with her genuine and nice side. I really can appreciate that she made it so very clear that her power is not the one you tend to expect in a lot of characters but she make it work and oh dear does it work insanely well! It's even more impressive that she manages to remain that nice and have her very positive and optimistic outlook on things when actually bad stuff happen. It's a solid foundation that has so far survived everything and that stuff has not been weak at all. Madoka doesn't strike me at all as a hero that might fall from grace due to not only her niceness but the people she has surrounded herself with. Mami, Sayaka and Kyoko are all very capable of standing against everything and with such friends Madoka will never be alone.

I tend to see her feelings more like "wow you're so awesome" etc like than the same as the other characters feelings but the fact that she's like 14 or something makes it very awkward
