Of all the things i expected to see this morning this was not my first option but it's clearly one of the better things that i could watch!

I'll never stay silent when it comes to what Homura did, i will always mention that without Homura everything would eventually go somewhere so very dark that dark holes would be bright. Her action made hope possible, a future possible for everyone INCLUDING Madoka and while it's alright to believe her action was selfish and that i got no problem with people thinking but i'm less inclined to stay silent when the action is only painted with the blackest of black and when the actually good sides get ignored. Homura is alright with taking on the role of "evil" for the sake of everyone else and that is one of the most noble things anyone possibly could do. I'll rant, ramble and gush in her favour just so that her side is always multi-coloured!

 

Just thought I'd comment on this one paragraph.  SUPER MASSIVE PMMM REBELLION SPOILERGEDDON BELOW!

I have to disagree, Homura did not do what she did for the sake of everyone.  She's always had only one goal, and that was to make Madoka happy, at the cost of everything else.  In Rebellion, this amounts to tearing Modoka's human form from her god form, then kidnapping and brainwashing her and the others to place them in her new world.  All because she genuinely thinks its the only way to keep Madoka happy, disregarding Madoka's desires and those of the others.  A great example of "I'll make you happy whether you want it or not."

 

Homura's actions are 100% selfish, and though I wouldn't necessarily call them outright evil, any good that comes of it though is definitely just a beneficial side effect.  Look at Sayaka's mixed feelings at at the end.  She can't believe the terrible thing Homura has done (being the only one who remembers), but at the same time is kinda happy to see her friends again. 

 

In my opinion Homra's actions are a very interesting take on the Yandere (hence I like to call Akuma Homura the Yandere Demon Goddess).  If Madoka's god form represents selflessness, then Homura's is the complete opposite. 

 

But you know how it is, opinions, opinions.  This is my take on the her character.  I really can't see any of her actions as noble, though I doubt anyone will deny that she started her journey in the series with good intentions.

And finished the 5th anime of this week, guess that happens when you follow a few ongoing animes that end within days of each other. 

Mekakucity Actors was enjoyable to watch but it took a quite long time for me to be able to appreciate it and get used to how it wanted to tell things and for a very long time i really had no idea what was happening and had to re-watch a few parts to catch what was said. That said once all confusion was gone it was not bad at all. Very interesting art and a storyline that i usually don't encounter too often so it felt fresh. Characters all had their quirks and had a fair amount of screentime. Could've used a few more episodes though to actually establish everyone so it wouldn't be as difficult to remember them all since they are quite many. All in all an interesting watch that certainly was something very different from anything i've watched over the last few months. If you got time over then maybe consider it and pay more attention than i did and it might not be confusing at all!

Its a thought provoking show, and one of the few I've seen that others here are quite passionate about.  So its fun hearing and sharing opinions.

 

In other news, I watched the Evangelion Rebuilds, and I actually really, really liked them, especially 2.22 and 3.33.  Note I've never seen anything Eva related before this, but I think I can say that safely say that I am a fan. 

 

I'll probably have to watch 2.22 and 3.33 again to get a full grasp of what happened, but it was very enjoyable.  I read some of the opinions older fans had on the movies, and while I can kinda see where some of them are coming from, at the moment I can only guess most criticisms must be coming from preconceptions of what Evanelion should be based on their experience with the original series. 

 

This is exactly I decided to watch the movies first, to get a different perspective.  Kinda like watching a movie before reading the book.

 

Anyways, I'll be starting the series today.  I hope it can live up to the movies.

This is the other thing that excites me about this little experiment I'm doing.  There are SOOO many strong opinions about the series ending.  I take it you weren't a fan of The End of Evangelion?  I'm going to watch it after the series.

I wasn't aware there was any debate about the state of the actual series' ending, though...

 

I mean, I think eroeru might have defended it once, but I mean... it's eroeru.

Gotcha. Either way, I'll report my opinion once I finish it all.  I've never seen any debate here, I'm mainly referring to the fandom in general and arguments in other places I've stumbled upon via google.  I feel like this place is pretty tame when it comes to things like that.
