YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POST UNTIL YOU GET RID OF THAT THING CALLED YOUR AVATAR!
Oh.. okay, sorry about that, I'll just use the default one.
YOU MONSTER!
I was reluctant since it's 70 episodes. I don't know how a series will go about 70 episodes without dragging on at a slug's pace.
So, it seems Lotion has watched it. Any thoughts?
9/10.
And I don't give 10's at all.
So highest reccomendation.
The Fugutive meets Silence of the Lambs.
Can't describe it better than that.

Well that sounds great. How is the dub?
I watched the sub, but I did see 1-2 dubbed episodes. Seemed OK.

I'll check out both. It'll probably be better in subs, but the thing is, I can listen better with dubs, and I suppose Monster is one anime where you'll WANT to absorb all the dialogue there is.
Posts the Sadist Goddess in A&M thread.
No questions.
Today was a good day.
Barefoot Gen sounds a lot like Grave of the Fireflies. (vice versa I guess) I watched that movie on accident. It was a really depressing accident.
Yeah a bit.
Where Grave of the Fireflies was trying to send its message to younger Japanese people that they should respect their elders because of the hell they went through. In some ways I am sure it did that. But for most of us in the west, we view it as a great anti-war film but that's not what the director was going for so uhhh yeah.
Barefoot Gen was mostly about the creator of it. Whet he saw as a boy. The hell that was Hiroshima after the bomb hit. The movie is the face of anti-nuclear warfare for a reason. And with the manga that came out first many years before the 1983 film as well as Barefoot Gen 2 they go past WW2, showing what life was like back then.
It's all very sad stuff but with a bit of hope in there too and that matters a lot I think.
I took a little binging break myself but I'm working to finish up Battle Tendency tonight. Just finished 23 so it won't take me too long and I'll probably edit this once I'm done provided nobody posts while I work on 24, 25 and 26. Just going to quickly say that so far the Pillar Men have really surpassed what I was expecting. The episodes to take down Wham were wonderful and Cars is just fantastic once the gloves come off. I know I've said it before but so much is mentioned about how ridiculous the series can be and I feel like it often overshadows how generally *good* parts 1 and 2 have been. I can't really put one over the other because they tell two different types of stories (and I can figure that continues on considering what I've skimmed of the other parts).
Alright, I've waffled/fangirled enough. Time to finish up this arc. I don't know if I'll start Stardust Crusaders tonight or not. That will depend on how I feel once I finish up. I'm definitely going to try and track down the soundtrack too. It's my jojob to make more progress!
ETA: Finished up. :') Both Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency ended on notes that I felt were all too fitting for the sort of protagonist they each had. It's definitely something that I hope the rest of the parts carry on with (though I'm not exactly worried since it hasn't let me down yet). Also, that stinger. Time for spooky boxes!

The end of the Joseph arc had me in tears.
P.S The part where I laughed the most.
Just the whole ordeal with the spaghetti plus his reaction of Ceaser's flirting...
It's why Joseph is just amazing xD
Am I the only one who can't help laughing out loud whenever Shion does? Hella contagious tbh.

So I just watched the first couple of episodes of that Gallactic Heroes you are always gushing over Sim and uh... I like it but all the Admirals, Commanders ect are complete idiots. Example: order our ships into a spindle formation and charge straight at the enemy fleet because they would never think to A: split into 4 formations and encircle us or B: just let us pass and then set up a large kill box behind us lol. I tried to overlook it I really did but are these Commanders unaware of the fact that space is not a two dimensional grid maybe they should require all Commanders to play Homeworld on their PCs for a couple of weeks lol. Because I know what I would of done if some jack ass tried a spearhead style attack on me it's called a claw formation it gives you're ships 5 different firing angles as you encircle the enemy's entire battle group. But with that said there are things that I really do like such as the art direction they took their Battleships actually look like warships and the small fighters were given very unique designs that make sense I loved how the Empires fighters had gimbal turrets that could rotate and follow a ships course why you flew in a completely different direction. I will continue to watch as I do believe that the characters, setting and ships are rather interesting. PS: Please don't send Satsuki to kick my ass I'm not man enough to handle her Sim lol. As I said there are strong positives that more then make up for the writers lack of understanding when it comes to battle tactics.
I think It's the Grand Strategy not to release every ship to do whatever they want to avoid a huge mess. There will be divisions consisted of few admirals and captains etc. and their ships who follow a certain tactics in a battle when their other comrades in other ship doing something else. Also Stockhausen wasn't actually a genius of Space Wars. Reinhard, Kircheis, Yang Wen-li, Reuenthal, Oberstein, Mittermeyer and a few others are.
There is 3D dimensional tactics in the series too.
Charging is usually done to completely break up the enemy formation and their command structure. In other words, one usually relies on the enemy organization crumbling (if the charge is fast and hard enough), thus organized and planned resistance crumbling fast too.

Also you have to factor in technology and the VAST amount of numbers. Later on in the series, the Admirals Reinhard chooses are far more competent than those of the first episode. Still, going back to that. These battles number in the tens of thousands, and so each Admiral has control over its own forces. If a charge is strong enough, then it'll break the command structure entirely.
Think of it in the terms of a Heavy Cavalry charge in the Medieval ages. One of those (if effective) can really tip the scales of battle.
Still, if it's a few episodes in, then you've only met the 'dumb dumbs' of the Imperial and Alliance fleet. Look how things changed when Reinhard and Yang were locked in battle together in the first episode. Reinhard was co-operating with dumb-asses and Yang didn't have control on the fleet until that Admiral died.
But still, I'm not going to assume the role of an expert of strategy xD that's something to discuss with others who are more familiar with that field. Mostly I love the politics ![]()

I started the first episode of Stardust Crusaders before needing sleep this morning. Already the Stands are exactly as intriguing as I was hoping, so I'm excited to see more of them. I don't have much of an opinion on Jotaro yet, so I won't say much there.
And with completing Black Bullet i've now finished every ongoing anime i started watching in the spring season, it started with BB and it ended with BB.
Now to the last episode. The set-up for it was suprisingly well done and the preview for it actually made me very excited to watch the episode itself and the episode didn't disappoint. It didn't overwhelm me either but it did what it was supposed to do and left plenty of room for future seasons if they decide to make them which i personally do hope since i quite liked BB and i've not been able to point out exactly why i like it to the extent that i do. The art style is very fresh with striking colours and deep colours that just give everything so much more life than they would've with weaker colours. The story in the anime is a mixed one with very high points and some very deep low points. The high is in the first and last thirds where as the middle is not that good at all and it felt like not much happened for 2-3 episodes. While i don't know why i like it as much as i do i suspect it got something to do with a few of the characters. The characters in the anime might not be that remarkable themself but i've really fallen for a few of them and even had one as my avatar for a few weeks which is a great credit to that character. The development of these characters do happen alright but at some points it felt like some of the characters reverted to who they were a few episodes ago which did become a bit annoying when it happened too often.
Would i recommend people watching it? I would but more as something when people might want to taste something else than the really high quality legends that are frequently mentioned in this thread. Black Bullet is good, maybe even great but it's really not something that everyone would like. Give it a try perhaps and maybe you'll like it!

I'm not going anywhere near Stardust until its done or else I'll be waiting weekly for an episode AND I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT YET! xD
Oh and yes
