Bro.. L is dead! He's pinning for the fjords and can no longer pursue Kira and Kira 2. I'm both a bit sad over his death but i can't help but feeling a bit sinister over what new kind of madness that now can be unleashed. L held the line for so long and now the gates to hell itself are open and i'm eager to see what might happen. Light is a master manipulator at the moment and his use of Misa whom i adore greatly against both L and Rem was genius if not insanely crazy and i can always appreciate crazy. In the end though i'll mostly miss his sitting and his amazing capabillity of downing coffee like a champion. Few people are capable of drinking those amounts of coffee but L did manage and for that he shall always have our respect! For L!

Best first episode so far, I think...

 

It seems cool, but then I've read about the show and it raised flags faster than a surprise visit from a foreign dignitary.

 

Mecha show with teenaged heroes getting involved in a conflict they didn't ask for? Sounds familiar.

 

Might check it out later though, with my mecha anime bias steamroller and whatnot.

I've just started out watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes, seems pretty interesting. I normally stay away from lengthy shows though. LOL. I guess there's always a first time.

I think I'm realizing what it is that made Clannad, especially After Story, such an engaging and emotional powerful story -- It's like watching a Miyazaki film spanning out for 24 episodes of television. Gonna continue writing an indepth analysis providing my thoughts and interpretations of After Story a little bit later today.

The longer I spend in here, the more piles of Shows I have to finish.

Apparently all of Clannad's First Season is on YT. Still working on Death Note, around episode 8. I kinda gave up on Stein's Gate, didn't grab me.

To combat the hydra that is my ever growing list of animes that has to be watched i'm probably going to blast through the last part of Death Note during today. I've managed to keep myself from doing this for quite a while but when the list start reaching towards the 50s and that's with me not even adding half of the stuff mentioned here. There's just so insanely much to watch and with an anime that got the length of Death Note i'll probably reach 60s before i'm even done and i'd prefer to not sit with one anime for too long even if it's a solid one as Death Note.

Besides, after L dying i just want things to move on. That coffee drinking genius was one of the main draws for watching the anime and with him rather expired it's just not the same anymore

I don't have a particular preference for or against mecha anime. But to me, some are clearly better than others.

 

They make great drinking games.

 

Get a bottle of wine, and take a swing when:

 

• There is a conflict between two sides going on for a long time
• The hero gets involved in it against his/her will
• They get in the very speshul mecha and do a good job piloting it the first time without experience
• There is a father figure whom the hero has a strained relationship with and he is involved with one of the sides
• There is a mysterious girl who is going to be a motivation for the hero (protect her/love interest/combo points for both)
• A wild rival appears!

 

Eureka 7 was the last mecha show I watched a few months ago, and even with its own spin on the genre you can still finish the bottle by the end of the first episode. I even tried watching Gundam shows, since it's how all began, and I couldn't handle it. It was like every mecha anime cliche I've seen distilled into one. Talk about Seinfeld effect.

 

I mentioned here before that its my least favorite genre, but paradoxically gave the most shows to my top 10 anime list, so that's why I don't stop watching them.
