Well i've managed to do a good job of avoiding Clannad spoilers so far or anime spoilers in general come to think of it. Perhaps it's too make up for having persona 3 and 4 spoiled for me.

I like to think they don't. It was more or less a thought that came to when I was watching the documentary on the Last of Us development phase, or at least something I was reminded when I watched it. Check it out there. It's interesting to note Troy Baker's feelings to the process of acting out one of the most powerful scenes in the game, and most emotionally draining. It takes true effort out of the actor too. Sometimes that's enough. In the documentary, it seems lean towards writing a story first, as they go along, and thus impactful stuff comes after or they come natural as it progresses. This is basically what little I know about it. I study narrative production and storytelling, but I can't say I'm an expert on the subject. I know that Naughty Dog tend to think hard on what kind of story they wanna tell, but I think it's during that process where the twists, the sadness, or powerful stuff simple integrates naturally. It's important to remember that no matter what it is, anime, manga, book, film, nothing is there by accident, everything has a meaning, everything serves a purpose, every shot taken in a film is framed the exact way it is for a purpose, not always as deep as one might think, but there it is.
I think that's what I wanted to say in regards to Clannad in my analysis, it was about how the best stories don't seem planned ahead too much in order to get the best reaction out of its audience. That's what I believe anyway.
I've had that bookmarked for ages but anime has kept me busy ^.^
And indeed, from what I can tell, the best stories are neither totally 'organic' or totally 'architectural' (terms I borrowed from Martin.) They are always a blend of both.
Perhaps Naughty Dog thought to themselves when writing the Last of Us that "it would totally great if he lied at the end" but later considered the meaning behind that lie.

Well, if you can recommend Anohana I'll definitely give it a whirl.
It's odd thinking back now. Because there's something I feel I missed out on mentioning in my review, analysis, whatever you wanna call it.
Clannad, despite it all, actually ends with a happy ending, and yet it fits so well? Isn't it odd? I think it relates to how the anime essentially said what it needed to say, in terms of its underlying message, and felt more or less like a strict lesson that Tomoya had to realize in order to grow as an adult. It's at that part where we sort of come to accept the supernatural, the other world, because it plays out a bit more like a psychological aspect to the psyche of the characters and their struggles.
It's hard to put more exact words on it right now. But yeah..
I wonder if you watched the 'extra' episode after the ending where Tomoya summarizes all his experiences to Ushio. It does seem that he remembered everything but isn't really sure if it was real or not.

If that's the case, I guess I never need to watch Clannad.
And it's all your guys' fault.
Good point.
But it was more like a troll spoiler.

Not watched this many episodes in one day and i'm not done for the day either but i am done with Death Note and as i said will write something more detailed than the little post i did before. Quite conflicted on some things and actually not sure at all what i would give Death Note in score. Either way even though Death Note isn't the newest of new animes i'll still write everything under a spoiler tag, if anything that will let me avoid making a post that will make mouse wheels catch fire.. that would indeed be bad!

I agree with everything there, bro. Though I do admit that the second half amuses me more than it bothers me, Death Note really ends at episode 25. It's saving grace is that you could easily end it there and forget about the second half having Light as the winner and the 'god' of the new world. It's not the perfect conclusion, but it's certainly better than what we got.
However...
I do admit that I have a very soft spot for Death Note and I'm very bias towards it seeing as if it weren't for Death Note I wouldn't be here in this thread talking about Legend of the Galactic Heroes and stopping at episode 82 because I can't bare to know what happens next.
Oh and these are my favourite tracks from Death Note.
All of L's themes
Near's themes
Kira's theme
And that awesome choir that plays all the time xD

Aye bro! I'll probably end up pretending that everything after episode 25 isn't as weak as it is or that it just didn't happen. Might even make up some stuff and float around in a dream world where it just worked out better.
Alright moving on!
Did watch Akame Ga Kill's first episode and at first it looked decent but midway through it suddenly got VERY interesting and towards the end i was hooked so Akame will be one of the animes that i will look forward to each week. More or less done now with picking what animes to watch each week and what animes to leave until they are finished, might add one more to the mix. Will decide tomorrow if i'll add Tokyo Ghoul since i've heard enough to peak interest.
and moving on one more time to actually figuring out what anime that will succeed Death Note. Got ungodly many to pick from. Animes like Code Geass, Fate/Zero, Angel Beats! and many many more. Picking is haaaaard!

Angel Beats - very feely, and funny... the end though? Eh. Inconsistent or spiritual, you take your pick, bro.
Code Geass - another 'god tier' anime. Lelouch is 1000x the character Light will ever be. If you want some great action, some politics, and a lot of Death Note-like 'tricks' it's for you.
Fate/Zero - apparently VERY good, haven't watched it yet, but I'm planning to after LOTGH. I'll rewatch PMMM then head off to Gintama and Fate/Zero at the same time :-)
Akame Ga Kill/Kiru whatever... I talked about it a few pages back. Like I said: it's fun, but not brilliant. It's definitely something people will enjoy though
and wait 'till you meet...
DR.STYLISH!
"Prepare our Stylish Retreat!"
God he's hilarious.
Man I feel like re-watching Code Geass again.
Seriously. Light? I don't like him as a character. Sure, he's a great antagonist. But there's hardly anything to empathise with in the end. And it's not like it's a subtle transition from 'morally ambiguous' to 'batsh*t insane.' Basically, there was no fight for his humanity. He simply lost it.
Whilst Lelouch struggles with his hatred for Britannia and his own humanity. He is everything Light should have been and more. Though there is ONE case of inconsistency, but it's hardly something to cry over. You could interpret it as Lelouch's 'mask' giving in to its truth.
Honestly, I want you to watch Code Geass, just to see your reaction to it
, but it's up to you bro, I forced you into Death Note last time xD
P.S Code Geass (well, specifically R2) has one of the greatest endings in anime.

2am here, gonna go to bed.
But f*ck me is Vagabond great and addicting. Generally, I prefer shorter chapters to longer ones, but Vagabond's 20 chapter style makes things go VERY quickly. I'm not complaining, it's actually a testament to how great a read it is.

Just got past episode 20 of Evangelion. It's definitely one of those shows that starts out alright and picks up in it's second half. There's a lot of ideas swimming in my head about what's going on, but I'm just going to watch the episodes to see what's up.

I have not, actually -- I'll try to look for it. I feel like there's more to talk about in regards to the ending so I'll do that later today.

You should totally watch the dub -- Because Adachi-Yu is Lelouch and its got Laura Bailey & Troy Baker and pretty much all of the cool-gang English voice actors in it.

I've had that problem with kissanime before when watching the persona 3 movie. A good way to fix it is to download the video from kiss anime using this site.

I see a lot of Death Note convo. <Some spoilers> I would just throw in my random opinion also in that I found Death Note to generally be much more compelling in first 1/3 with the taut battle between Light and L, but after that cool FBI agent girl died I lost a ton of interest (episode 8). I didn't really enjoy the Misa and Light interrogation mini-arc thing from like eps. 16-23 or so very much either. I basically enjoyed the series less and less as it progressed, with the exception of 24-25 which were very suspenseful and intense. By 36, it felt like an insanely uneven experience on the whole; and I've never re-watched the series past episode 15 or so more than once or twice or episode 8 more than a handful of times.
Anyway, definitely agree on Code Geass though, probably one of my favorite anime ever, it has a killer beginning and ending.

His initial quest for justice had been decaying fairly long before that, in my opinion. It was probably the maniacal laughter that did it for me.
Misa is a bit of an anomaly in the roster. Through the all-too-serious dialogue for everyone else, you get the overly attached kira. Almost reminds me of Harlequin o.O Haven't gotten far beyond episode 17, so can't really voice much on that.
Eh yeah.. you know I was actually editing as I was thinking about it, it's definitely true they could of done more to round Light out to make him more sympathetic probably even close to the beginning.
Oh and Aldnoah.Zero, I definitely have my eye on that one since it has Urobuchi and Madoka was so cool to me. I think I might try and do the whole, wait until it's.done and watch all at once though.
Also isn't it interesting that Hiroyuki Sawano has done the music for like so many majorly popular anime now? Attack on Titan, Kill la kill, Guilty Crown, and potentially this one also.
