I also personally really liked the one TMH recommended: Serial Experiments Lain. That was one of my favorites when I could actually remember what happened in it, mind you it's... different.
Yeah, its a trip. I really enjoyed it when I binged through it last week. One of my favorites.

Yeah, its a trip. I really enjoyed it when I binged through it last week. One of my favorites.
It changed the standard for me when it comes to anime.
I will admit that it's hard to get into though. It took me three attempts to start it.

Its definitely one of those shows that challenges what an anime should be and what they should do. Haven't you ever looked into the game that came out with it? Some of the things that happen in it are pretty damn intense.
I will admit that it's hard to get into though. It took me three attempts to start it.
Had I watched it it when I originally came to the US, I wouldn't have made it though. But I'm definitely in the right space for those types of shows now. Its not what I would call a kids show, that's for sure.

I didn't know there was a game that came out for it. It might be time to fire up my old PS1 and give it a whirl. I can definitely go for some crazy SEL gaming action.
And yeah, Texhnolyze is another good one. It's even slower than Lain though, but there are definitely some good ideas in that one. I'd like to throw in Boogiepop Phantom too. That show is the bomb.

:') Awww. Someone else that likes Boogiepop. This pleases me. Texhnolyze is definitely good though, great soundtrack too. You have to be willing to deal with it being a fair bit of a slow burner though. That's for sure.

Will give it a try, though the art style isn't exactly to my liking. How many episodes would you say it takes to get a good feeling for the series?
I'd say around 10 episodes.
But it might take longer.
And who gives a damn about style when its plot is so damned good.
Oh, and what a f*cking horrible night. I was crying in bouts from 1:20am to 3am.

Sounds ridiculous.
But descriptions oft just scratch the surface. I mean, look at PMMM's
"She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time… Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader of Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn't know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. That doesn't really sound like "This show will not give a sh*t about your feelings" now does it? xD

It's true that I've put up with quite a few obnoxious protagonists and in some anime I might even consider good, but still, I'd rather avoid the pain if I can, unless I have everyone telling me it's awesome despite my impressions, like they would if it was Madoka-tier.

Since we're kinda on the subject and I've been really slow with watching finished anime, I'll say I was a bit annoyed with the second half of Ben-To for similar reasons. Too much of that "pervert" humor. I mean, with the pool and the hospital especially. And how they somewhere along the way decided to stop showing that minor character female wolf's face altogether to emphasize where his gaze was, lol. She literally became a walking pair of boobs.
But maybe I'm just being stuck up again. I say 6 or 7 for how much it annoyed me, but otherwise it was a fun show.

I didn't really much care for all that. For me, Ben-to was a massive p*ss take from the beginning so I had fun with it knowing I didn't really have to think.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. Anyways to answer sims question Date a live it's weird as **** but if you've played games with dateing elements it's funny as hell. I'm trying to keep only Aldnoah.zero and one finished anime going at a time.
