Just finished Sakurasou No Pet No Kanojo and it was every bit as entertaining as i had hoped it would be. To the brim full with crazy, silly and light heartedness! Lovely characters that are very entertaining to watch and while perhaps 2-3 of them are memorable the others do their part in making these 2-3 characters stand out very well. The anime start of with force and never really lose energy at all during the 24 episodes and there're constantly something happening within the story that is built up from previous episodes. The anime feel very much alive all the time and not much screentime can be considered wasteful. The art style is phenomenal and i especially love just how they draw the characters and give life to them. Soundtrack is not that special at all but it got solid opening and ending tracks that i can recall from memory so not bad at all.

Looking for something silly, light hearted and rather crazy then Sakurasou is a very viable option to watch!

I apologize. But when I said I cried for an hour and a half, I was being very literal. As Isi well knows, character deaths in games, books and TV really have an effect on me.

Real life?

I think I was the only one to look at my watch during my grandmother's funeral.

Yes, I'm royally f*cked in the head, but that's how I am.

So yeah, it's totally my fault. But keep in mind I was an emotional wreck. I looked at the screen dumbfounded, hoping for a "I'm not dead yet" thing... but then that f*cking narrator had to speak and BAM. I stood there motionless for like 5 minutes starting at nothing then I just broke down.

Sim you *have* to play Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons eventually. You're the only one who might get what an effect that had on me.

Lesson learned: Stay away from this thread to avoid spoilers.

Bye

Don't do the typical 'BSN' indifference thing.

We're 90% of the time REALLY good at keeping things in tags.

It was my fault for the spoilers before, so I apologise for that. But seriously, the BSN is like a warzone and you're standing on Switzerland.

Aldnoah has alot of potential to be fantastic with the crew working on it. Gen is a fantastic writer who feeds off our tears.

Sometimes has a hard time finishing off things. Fate/Zero and PMMMMMMTOOOMANYMMMMMSS both had strong starts, but were brought down a bit by their ending parts. Fate/Zero in particular was heavily rushed.

I'm not sure how outstanding Aldnoah can really hope to be either. Puella stood out because it was such a direct and intellectual deconstruction of a genre with a general sophistication target of 'idealist children.' It could stand out by contrast to the expectations.

The mecha genre, by contrast, is all about deconstruction. Deconstructing heroic wars, government interests, intergenerational responsibility for the state of the world, and the countless other mecha animes that came before. It's a much more trodden environment. If Aldnoah is a narrative about supremacism and conquest and resistance to corrupt and oppressive governments, it's not going to be innovative: it's going to be a less stylish Code Geass with differences.

And if it tries to deconstruct the deconstruction by being a reconstruction of the genre, in which there's an imperfect but better good faction against a humanized but decidedly 'wrong' faction, it's also not going to be a novel thing: it will just be an update to the original gundam.

None of which is to say that the series will be bad in any way. It may yet be amazing. But even if it's amazing, it's highly unlikely to be a trailblazer like PMMM.

Get on that. Chris' analysis' are like crack for my brain.

Please do play it eventually though, 2 hours to beat and it's the 2nd most a piece of media has ever made me cry (Clannad being #1 obviously)

The only downside is you need a controller. You can play on the keyboard but I would ***strongly*** recommend using a dualstick controller.

Since the Golden Animation just showed up on Crunchyroll, I'm wondering, is it a complete remake or just some additional stuff? Golden Animation is only listed as 12 episodes compared to the first which was 26.

And I thought Gurren Lagann was the mecha reconstruction. I don't see Aldnoah going in that direction. :P

It's a remake.

It's a remake.

I guess it's heavily truncated then? That's only about 4 hours of animation to cover the whole game unless the episodes are longer than usual.

Well, that did it for me. Finally put the lid on that one.

I finally found something I love as much as FMAB and that scene in LotGH did it.

Spoiler

What a f*cking show. I love Babylon 5, but I think this has it beat by a little.

Seriously, watch it. This has a bit of everything inside. You simply cannot class it under anything. Romance, politics, heroism, war, philosophy, a great cast and a great story that spans 110 episodes.

I only have like 23 left. And it's going to be a sad day when I finish it.

The original animation had some severe pacing issues -- Perhaps 12 episodes is a good thing but then again, maybe not. Persona 4 is not really a game you can base an anime on. The Persona 3 film is fine though I suppose for what it did capture but it's left out a lot of neat stuff from the games that it ultimately don't carry the same impact. So yeah, maybe it'll just generally cover the new content of Persona 4 Golden though from what they've showed and said so far it indicates a remake.

Yes, you do! And don't worry I will get on with that Clannad stuff tomorrow since I missed out today. I already wrote a bunch about Persona 3 in the Persona thread come to think of it. Will probably post it on Tumblr as well.

I'm seriously looking for media so I can buy it. Books, manga anything. The DVDs are too expensive for me to buy, but I'm thinking of doing a little project to download the episodes, put them in discs, then make up a personal 'series box' for it.

I would buy the DVDs, don't get me wrong.

But I'm not paying 600 dollars. I would. But I can't.

Of course Sim is posting people having sex instead of focusing on Persona 3.

Golden is only going to have twelve episodes? Yeah, that makes total sense. The original anime cut out a crippling amount of the game so they're going to do it again with more content to fit in but with less than half the episodes? There goes my hype.

Its either going to have to be super focused, or just gloss over everything.  The latter is guaranteed  to fail, but I think there is still at least some hope if they go with a very focused narrative.

Know idea how they'd pull it off though.
