Maybe it might just cover the new stuff. I know it says it's a remake but honestly, this is the only way I can see it not failing miserably. A shame they're going to besmirch such good characters with this.

And according to the persona thread, no Troy Baker to play Kanji = ![]()

Yeah, Troy Baker is done playing Kanji. It's the same for Persona Q and ultimax arena I believe. This bothers me much more than it should. :l

The only hope for Golden is if it has a second season. I already did the math in the Persona thread. One rescue would have to be one full episode. That's six right here. The intro it self with Chie's shadow would be two episodes. That's already 8.Then there's December 3rd and the things that happen after. That right there would be three episodes, that's 11. Then the true ending that would need to be two(P4 anime one episode was not enough) We are already past 12 episodes and I have not even added the golden content....

Can't really say if he's gonna play Kanji or not in the Golden Animation since it won't get a dub.. at least not for now.
We know he won't be Kanji in Ultimax or Q though. It's just enough proof that Atlus needs to move on from Persona 4 before they completely mess up the consistency

Yeah, there definitely has to be a second (and maybe third) season. Otherwise this is going to be worse case of 'dropping the ball' than Brazil today... okay not quite, but you get the picture.
Yu better romance Naoto this time around :l That **** is cannon.

Well yeah, they need to move on from that one too but I'd say Persona 4 is the larger issue at hand -- Persona 3 is not at the disadvantage point of losing any of the old voices either, with the exception of Theodore.

Finally watched Ghost in the Shell.
As expected, the animation is superb, the atmosphere spot on. Alas, these kinds of stories just don't resonate much with me.
Still, good stuff. Easy to see why it's considred a great classic.

Are you talking about the 1995 movie? Yeah, its definitely worthy of the praise it gets. Its one of my favorites.

I've only watched 3 of Mamoru Oshii's movies (GitS, GitS2:Innocence & Angel's Egg). Can't say I'm a huge fan, but he does seen to have a knack for nailing atmosphere and creating some really powerful scenes that stick with you.
I'd probably never recommend Angel's Egg to anyone unless they were really into symbolism and philosophy, and I'll probably never rewatch that movie, but it's going to be burned in my brain forever and I definetly don't regret watching it.

Hmm thanks for the responses people for the KLK AOT SAO question. I'm sensing a lot of diversity but people seemed to agree the first arc of SAO and at least a few characters and specific elements of KLK were pretty strong.
I guess maybe I'll try KLK, but who knows maybe I'll try the others eventually. Basically I saw a lot of fan art for each of those anime at Anime Expo so I felt like I was missing something in one or all of them.
Also for people who have not seen Puella Magi Madoka Magica I liked it more than probably Evangelion so that's my take.

If you haven't, well you should watch both.
The reason being that the studio that produced Kill la Kill rose out of the ashes of Gainax (ok, they technically still exist, lol) and Kill la Kill is often seen as a spiritual successor of sorts to Gurren Lagann.

I watched Roberta's blood trail tonight. I was not disappointed. It was a pretty awesome end to my favorite arc of the series.
Still wish there was more Black Lagoon though.

I enjoyed the ending to PMMM and Rebellion *flees*
I can forgive PMMM, since MAGIC, but Rebellion?
Didn't even the developer more or less apologize for how that turned out, since the change in timespot meant he was forced to rewrite the entire first quarter of the season to re-introduce everything again? Then there was the general collapse of the mecha combat factor as they went from 'those cool rollar skating robots' to 'the flying robots who pull out a new weapon every episode to win the battle', until the very last battle.
Nah. The last few episodes were a return to the original foundation, but as far as I'm concerned Code Geass is a one season show. The first, and only, season.

SAO's first arc is a sort of cheesy but interesting 'what if people get stuck in a video game' scenario, with a decent and plausible romance arc (surrounded by the main character having women throw themselves at him). The second arc, meh. It was pretty much an excuse to return to a fantasy video game with swords, but now it's the sister being another admirer both IRL and in the virtual world. I'm not even bothering with the new season, considering it just plain doesn't give a **** and is giving everyone badass guns.
KLK, though- that's an experience in absurdity. It makes no sense at all on a visual level, and goes through every effort not to, but that's how the ends up rolling. It doesn't quite have the power of Gurren Lagann's drill metaphor for progression, but there's a surprisingly deep theme about clothes and identity behind the mass craziness.

So, I finished watching Evangelion. Time for some impressions! I'll try and keep this short.
Spoiler free conclusion: Eva is a good series that explores some very good ideas, and deconstructs the mecha genre and certain character archetypes very well. Most of the complaints I had heard (especially about Shinji) really have no foundation. However, in the end its fails because of a complete lack of focus and cohesion between the start of the series and end. Coupled with a frankly laughable ending, I can't think of Eva as anything more than an interesting failure.
7/10 simply because the parts I liked, I liked quite a bit.
In comparison to the Rebuilds, outside of a few specific episodes or character arcs, I see no real need for the series. The Rebuilds are more focus and coherent, and while it doesn't put as much emphasis on the level of analysis into the characters psyche, that's because its telling a different story, and I think they are doing a much better job at it.
/opinion
I'll watch End of Evangelion soon.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention

I liked Rebellion's ending. I thought it was pretty perfect. What did you dislike about both?

Perharps it's because I watched End of Evangelion immediately after finishing the series, but I've never considered the two apart. Much like Firefly and Serenity.

Since i wrote a smaller novel about ONE part of The Rebellion Story's ending i'd say it's safe to say that i adored the ending itself immensly and that it really did so many things so very right for me that it might be one of the more approved endings with me. Could it be better? everything can in some way but i personally can't point out anything that i would change or remove.

While I personally thought the originals ending was kinda average. Mainly because it left so many things unanswered and kinda rushed through things however I loved rebellions. Well I hated what happened but loved it as well.

Maybe it will work for me better once I've seen EoE, but I intentionally wanted to watch and consider each thing separately, using the Rebuilds as my baseline.

using the Rebuilds as my baseline.
Well that's interesting. I've watched the series like a decade ago and didn't see the remakes yet since they aren't all out, but watching the remakes first feels weird to me. Guess that's why I'm not into comics, if I'm super OCD about something, then it is about continuity order. I know the Rebuilds aren't sequels, but since it is NGE done properly with a mentally healthy director and proper budget this time around, comparisons are bound to arise.
