Suzaku is probably the only character i really have issues being around. Usually got issues with characters that walk the moral high ground and spout pretty words and nice phrases about what is right and how things SHOULD be done when their view of reality is so different from what's been happening. There was a few scenes in the last episode i watched where my neutral view of him completely fell apart and got changed into genuine dislike. If he for once acted according to the things he said when it truly mattered i'd be very impressed but i suppose that's what will happen in the coming episodes. Considering how well the rest of CG have been i can't see even Suzaku not changing. The potential for a character that i can enjoy is absolutely there, just less pretty words and instead some pretty action and we're set!

So Aldnoah episode 2

Going to say right away that it was not as strong as the first episode but it was not weak by any means. I'd say it was a good episode that continued down a path that it really had no other way but to walk. The animations were smooth and the i found myself thinking that the mechs did look quite fantastic at times. The combat involved was entertaining and it was just a good episode that had to happen for greater things down the line which are all rather awesome i'd say from what's been shown so far. One concern do arise as always when the opponent, in this case the martians dominate as much as they do and should do, how will they get "defeated". Something that if done well will make the anime really memorable and reach for the heights i hope it will!

 

Now i did suspect the princess survived all along, it just felt off with her "dying" so early. I had expectations that her role would be so much more than being some easy catalyst for large scale kickassery from the martians. I'm curious however on the people that Inaho encountered and just what role they might play that's not as obvious as it could be. Now i do rather like Kaizuka Yuki so far and hope her role continues to grow in the coming episodes, that and the crazy veteran because this anime absolutely do better with him in it and yay for him not dying!

With that said i still am uncertain about Inaho and do seriously hope he won't be another emotionless protagonist that got as much character as a brick. I really hope he develop and gain himself a personality that extinguish him from so many other protagonists, a lot ride on him being memorable and after 2 episodes i've had to look up his name twice writing this because i just can't remember him.

 

Soundtrack was great, like super great! And i'm still excited for more Aldnoah!

Humanity can hardly benefit from their so-called entropy stalling if it's inevitably wiped out by through what must be a vicious circle of creating stronger magical and thus stronger witches.

Kyubei's puzzlement about not undertsnad deception is an outright lie. Not giving crucial informations whilst actively manipulating people into accepting the contract is the very definition of deception and most certainly not just a misunderstanding.

And the whole entropy reason it gives is a load of BS. Even if a rare few species souls' can theoretically be converted into energy at an entropy defying rate, wiping them out is ultimately contra-productive and entropy would still occur in the longrun.



I don't know if that's just plain horrible writing, or if Kyubei's species is simply lying though their teeth to farm that energy (or whatever it is they're achieving) to their own ends, or if they simply like destroying planets with the aforementioned vicious cycle.

It comes down to weighing the lives of 1 person/the entire world vs that of the greater good. It doesn't understand why it has a responsibility to tell them because objectively it's not in it's best interest to do so. Besides the parts where humanity nearly gets wiped out don't matter because in those timelines it states that it has already collected enough energy by that point (usually thanks to Madoka) that they don't need to care about humanity anymore.

 

The whole point is this: It didn't have to care.

 

In the working world I've met plenty of people that will gladly destroy other people's lives and they will justify it because it helped their position. It has nothing to do with bad writing, and everything to do with the "I don't care because I don't have to" mentality.

As expected Isichar did a much better job than i would've at making that post, knew waiting would be the better choice!

 

Now, watched episode 2 of GGO/SAO2 and it was actually much more to my liking than the first one and we finally got to see Sinon in action and we will see a lot more of her in the future so just happy go get things moving. Also rather impressed on how the team has managed to make wasteland actually look seriously good and not actually as barren is it usually tend to look. The last min or so of content in this episode was a nice reminder of past times that did make me chuckle. Maybe this anime might actually do better than i had hoped it would. Time will tell!

It's seriously the most godly epic I have ever had the pleasure of watching. GOT can go p*ss in the corner, and I LOVE that show, but this is on par with classic literature.

 

I wasn't joking when I said it's the scifi anime edition of War and Peace. If you finish it, you can wait for the upcoming new adaptation.

I want a 'Death of Shounen' show, in which a world of hot-blooded Power of Will and magic and all that supernatural teen empowerment **** dies along with all magic, leaving only technology. Let the story be the adjustment/rebalancing as the era of shounen heroes dies and is replaced by something more rational.

 

And then, when twenty masked men with guns go against one unarmed youthful martial artist, the one-sided fight is in the proper direction.

Though I am always happy if I can discuss with people and agree on disagreeing like civilized people used to do.

Kyubei had justified their method by saying they are saving the universe for everyone and when humanity joins the galactic scale, they'll benefit from the universe not dying.

All that is rendered false because evidently They don't care at all about the greater good if They are so at ease with just knowingly, even worse ACTIVELY instigating an entire planet's biosphere getting annihilated. That means They either flatout lied to manipulate, or their greater good only serves everyone minus those They essentially farm for energy, getting destroyed in the process. Hmm, such greater good for everyone ... not.




Also note that I didn't say it's bad writing per se. I said it's either bad writing (in case the author really thinks that's a compelling reason we're supposed to understand and accept), or Kyubei, They, simply didn't tell the truth about their motives.

Well greater good doesn't always include every little piece of everything. Humanity is welcome to the greater stage IF humanity manage to survive that long. It's kinda up to the Puella Magi to hold the line for that long and if they don't then humanity wont see the better days and the Incubators will just move on and it sucks to be Earth. Kyubey manipulates, withholds truth and does everything he requires to do to get results and well it seems that so far humanity hasn't gone extinct even though the incubators have been at it for a very long time. The incubators will naturally keep trying to fill their quota through means that still leave humanity a resource to be used and while the risk of ending up making humanity going extinct will always exist it seems that they are not pushing for the biggest and badest of witches just for the quickest fix for their quota and instead go for a lot of lesser witches. From what we've seen so far this seems to be the case and even if our heroines turned into witches it's really only Madoka that would become something rather extreme and that for reasons that got very little to do with Kyubey and really all about Homura and her 100+ tries to save Madoka.

 

Either way gotta thank you for discussing PMMM! Always a blast even when views/opinions doesn't line up and to be honest it would be boring if we all agreed on someone as Kyubey, he's kinda meant to set people apart.
