Yeah I've never understood that about anime. They always portray kids as these sweet little innocent kids. Or extremely resouceful. The kids I know are disrespectful little twerps.

Well, Pino isn't a real kid. She's artificial.
As to the sincerity of kids - well, maybe you need remembrance of days past, nostaliga, or maybe a different eye but there is much more of it and freedom all around when it comes to kids.

Come to think of it, I cannot remember of one anime "kid" character who's enjoyable aside Pino.
I think the fact she's an android makes it both more believable and interesting.
