I watched all of angel beats in a single day and I watched I think 20 FMA:B videos in a day and immediately collapsed when I stood up. Never again I limit myself to 5 a day now.

That's why you have anime marathon days with friends and booze. We decided to start the three never ending shonen shows, while mixing it up with other animes so we don't get suicidal. There is no way I'd watch Bleach alone.

 

As for longest gig, we finished Mirai Nikki in one sitting last year. Nobody came out pretty from that one.

This season has a lot of heavy hitting anime, but I'll be pretty surprised if many will be better at the end of the day than those two. Only Aldnoah looks like it could be, from where I stand.

 

Absolutely, i don't expect to find that many better than these two however that weather that says that these two will end up absolute monsters and rule eveyrthing or if the overall set of animes this summer just lack "something" Now not going to be that kind of guy and rather expect that the animes are just in need of picking up some speed and things will just be great! So far i have more animes that i'm interested in than during spring so that's something

The movie makes up for it though. The movie is great.

 

My favourite episode was the one with the least amount of Haruhi in it, so the OVA title sounds suspiciously good for me. We'll se next week. Or tonight, depends how potent this icecream coffee shake is.

I can watch 13 Bleach episodes in one sitting on avarage, I've been training for this moment all my life.

 

I would rather watch the endless eight continually like 30 times in a row then sit through that mind numbingly stupid series again (Endless eight has more variety in the plot tbh)

 

The only series I was able to binge in the last year and not go crazy as a result was Chihayafuru season 2. Watched 20 episodes in a row and wanted to cry when there was no more left to watch

 

I binged the entire Angel Beats at once too and it was just a bit too much.

 

Of course I can binge through the entire PMMM series/movies endlessly too. I could probably just watch that 3 times in a row this weekend and still love it

In terms of production value it's good. The animation and music are strong points, and admittedly the fights can be entertaining (that wore off after the first few seasons for me though)

 

But in terms of time investment vs payoff I have yet to experience another piece of media that wastes my time to the extent bleach does/did, especially the manga. Reading chapters weekly are painful. The story is completely and utterly pointless, which would be fine in a shorter series, but in one that refuses to end it's horrible.

 

I like stories that have a theme and meaningful characters, not one that introduces 50 new characters each arc and forgets about them 50 chapters down the road and is only aiming to keep the story going on 'one more week'. Bleach lacks both meaningful and well thought out characters as well as any theme that is worthwhile to even think about.

Each episode has like 12-10 minutes of original content, the show must make mad returns. We are near the end of the pillar fake town fight bullshit arc, and the formula is: preview, opening, previously on, 6 minutes, commercial break, quick recap, 5 minutes, ending. The DA2 of animes.

Nice, sounds like a huge step up from the manga in which you're lucky if you get more then 2-3 pages a week of actual relevant plot progression (sometimes you get less.. I'm not even joking either)

 

I was mainly just talking about Music and animation wise tbh. The plot is complete trash all the way around.

It's deep and meaningful™. Subtle social criticism story about misunderstood Hollow underdogs trying to overthrow the opressive, ancient establishment of the bourgeoisie Shinigami.

She's not eccentric, she's a sociopath who always gets her ways, well, because of the setting. Shame the premise is wasted on an episodic, higschool slice of life, there is huge potential for an interesting story.

 

But there is always Ergo Proxy for that kind of thing.

Time investment is the issue. The time it takes to finish Bleach compared to the payoff is not worth it, it's actually quite atrocious.
