The only series I was able to binge in the last year and not go crazy as a result was Chihayafuru season 2. Watched 20 episodes in a row and wanted to cry when there was no more left to watch
Curretly going through Chihayafuru and loving it. Just watched ep39 and taking a break. And I decided to use my breaktime to look up competitive karuta matches on Youtube to see how much the anime exagerates speed. I was surprised to see that it's not as exagerrated as I thought. Started watching the 2014 Queen match, and they're really fast. It's pretty impressive. Taking a look at the master match now. I think there's been something like 6 dead cards in a row

Yay! +1 to you. That series deserves your attention. It's easily in my top 5 favorite animes (even though it's not technically finished..)
I was incredibly surprised at how much I ended up liking the sport since that's usually a genre I couldn't care less about. The level of characterization is one of the best I've ever seen in a show. It's amazing how it can take characters that appear bland and uninteresting and actually turn them into serious characters.
On a funny side note my friend just got back from Japan and he picked me up a bunch of stuff including a Karuta deck and CD so I'm tempted to actually look into playing a bit if possible.

Time investment is the issue. The time it takes to finish Bleach compared to the payoff is not worth it, it's actually quite atrocious.

Haven't seen OP yet (I won't even consider watching the anime at this point tbh, I'd go with the manga but I still can't comment atm) and DBZ wouldn't even make my top 50 animes list. I stand by what I say most series can't go on that long, the only way it can go for hundred's of episodes is if it's popular and the creator just doesn't care about ending it.
I'd still take DBZ over Bleach for 2 reasons: It's still shorter and it's less pretentious. It isn't trying to be clever.
In terms of time investment I still wouldn't really recommend DBZ to anyone who is actually looking for a quality story and if I did I would suggest the much more reasonable Kai or hell, even the abridged version over the original.
I like One Piece.
