I will throw in more recommendations for FMA:B. I watched it recently and it suprised me at how good it was.

Going to have to agree with Khayness completely. As much as I adore Madoka Magica, I have this little bug nipping the back of my brain on being bothered about the idea of people starting with it, and then shunning the played straight magical girl series afterwards. I've given the deconstruction speech before though so I'll just stop right there.
I think Madoka Magica was my first experience in the world of magical girl animes. Ever since I watched it, I can't trust any mascot.

Hunter x Hunter and JoJo only don't count because they're eternal. (well, not as eternal as One Piece, but...)
JoJo is older than One Piece tho.
JoJo should be everyone's first anime and manga.

Jojo and Hunter X Hunter are on my list and will remain there for all eternity due to length.

The only reason I wouldn't start it would be the same reason I don't continue Naruto and Bleach. If I start it, I would want to finish it, and since it is so big. I don't want to stop watching all my other anime to even catch up to it.

I got a friend who reads Berserk and he's long accepted the fact that he probably won't see its end.
It's like the Japanese A Song of an Ice and Fire.

It's the not the ending part. It's more the catching up part from episode 1.

JoJo has less than two full seasons' worth so far (~43 episodes) if you start with the 2012 anime (which starts from the beginning of the manga).
But we are only on part 3, which is huge. And there are 8 parts of the ongoing manga.

It's always rather hard to write one of these pieces of text once i finish an anime. Some are easier and some are much harder but few have been super easy and Code Geass is entierly in the harder category. When i summarize it i'll add the two seasons together to make it easier for me. Code Geass is the first mecha anime that i've watched that i actually can say that i love. It had everything that i've wanted it to have and much more than that. It had a storyline that i felt was exciting all the way and it was rather full of engaging moments. Some moments might not be that excellent but in the grand picture they all fade away behind the overwhelmingly positive memories that i'll bring with me from Code Geass. Code Geass also brings an excellent cast of characters that during all the episodes grow and evolve while some of them remain a bit the same as who they were in the beginning. A very diverse cast of characters and it was lead by a protagonist that i grew to like a lot. Lelouch is a rarity for me since i very rarely actually grow to like the protagnoist of a story but he overcame that as he did with many other things. The anime also have a solid set of antagonists that keep things alive and do themself justice for the time they get to be on screen. Some of them were good and others will probably not be remembered but that's alright, not everything is worth being remembere anyway. Code Geass got some rather fantastic soundtracks and while it's by no means a PMMM set of soundtracks i've ended up having a few of them on repeat over the last month. The art style of Code Geass is probably it's weakness and while i didn't find it bad at all it was more like odd and some things just did look a bit off with enouch occurance for it sticking with me all the way. It didn't detract from the enjoyment once i came to accept it.
Would i recommend Code Geass? Heck yeah i will! It will be one of the very first animes that i'll mention to people asking for something to watch. I'm really happy that i waited with watching it aswell since it's really been the highlight of anyday since i picked it up and made some tiresome days end rather pleasantly. If you've not watched Code Geass please do give it a shot, it might be something just for you!

Wait so there isn't over 100 episodes? Looks like I may watch Jojo earlier than I first thought.

Ok. I thought it was longer the way people were talking about it. I thought it was more like naruto anime length.

JoJo episodes also go by really fast, just keeps you wanting more. Battle Tendency is so good it's over before you know it then you're left sad.

R2 is the second. Rest are spinoffs (debatable for fan riling purposes).

Yes everyone hurry and watch JoJo before part 4 starts.
As for the art style of Code Geass, it sucks for many reasons and yet I really don't blame CLAMP for it.
The long leg people worked better in something like xxxHolic where it fit.
And the order you have to watch Code Geass goes in like this.
Gundam>Zeta Gundam>Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket>Gundam The 08th MS Team>G Gundam
Tho you can watch G Gundam to start with too.

Yeh, I just edited my post, seeing that might be the case.
Go with release dates. Nunnally and Akito. Akito takes place between s1 and s2 though.

Ah ok i've got it now. Thanks.
They put mecha cliches in the bender, mixed it up and poured awesomeness on it, so some mecha cred might increase the enjoyement factor. Yer not the gushing type so I don't know what you watch, just putting this out there.
