Taking the Japanese fucked upness artistic vision to the live action scene is the next logical step.

Hmm. The fanservice level of what I've skimmed from the bits of any of the Monogatari series (mostly from the folks I follow on Tumblr mind you) was my main stopping point of watching it cause it almost seemed... kind of obnoxious I guess? But you've got me rethinking that I might just put up with it, Puddi. Maybe once I get back to actually watching stuff, I'll finally start Bakemonogatari. Though I'm under the impression that it's a set of connected series, yeah? If so I'll have to research where to start and such.

In Bakemono it's not particularly obnoxious IMO. In Nise... yeah. 
Admittedly I've only finished the first arc of second season. Right, I should get back to that soonish.
Bakemono is the first if you just want to go in the order they were released in.
Also I'd want to point out since you mentioned, it might be kinda harem-ish, which is a genre I'm usually not too fond of either. But I think that might be more of a superficial observation from the fact that the protagonist is a guy and most of the cast are girls (except one other badass guy in season 1) because it doesn't really play up the usual harem comedy bs routine. But that's just my take, I dunno what you'd think of it.
