It's a 110 episodes long space opera epic, and most of the action happens in the command room. So yeah, it can be considered slow.

TTGL has pacing issues in the first few episodes for sure. After episode 7 iirc it gets on full speed.

Yeah. Doesn't seem like my kind of show.

LOTGH has alot of talking, when it does battle scenes, the battles are amazing but if you need a battle scene every episode then ya. LOTGH is not for you. Most of the conflict in LOTGH is done in the command room or in a office.

Yeah. I won't add that one to my list. I prefer comedy and action oriented Animes.

I was not prepared. Not even close, nope.. not in the same galaxy kind of close. Not even with all the time in the world would i be close to prepared for Angel Beats and what it had in store for me. So yeah i did finish Angel Beats and it completely floored me on every possible level. I got more feels than any media has brought me before. It's almost a never ending stream of feels right now and i just got no idea what to do with myself anymore. I'll try to say something about the usual stuff that i tend to do when summarizing a show. It's just going to be harder than usual, only PMMM has made me so uncertain on what words to use and that anime required a few novels in the end to settle me. Angel Beats got an absolutely brilliant story that at first held a lot of promise but that promise turned into reality and so much more as the show went on. By episode 9-10 i was absolutely convinced that the story just couldn't possibly get any stronger since it had already peaked insanely well at that point but it did even improve from there!  The story really did more than i had any right to even dream of it doing and that's one of many reasons why i now absolutely love Angel Beats. The characters.. oh the characters in Angel Beats are together of incredibly high caliber and it's the synergy between them all that make them stand out. Some characters are amazing while others can easily be forgotten but when you add each and everyone together there's not a chance that they can be forgotten. The cast of Angel Beats isn't the best one ever but certainly one very memorable one!

The art style used in the anime looked awesome on images and promo stuff that i had a look at before watching but it was only when i actually watched it that i was blown away but how absolutely gorgeous the anime looked and it never once did disappoint me in this area. It's perhaps one of the most beautiful animes that i've watched so far and while there are many more to watch i don't think i need to be concerned that Angel Beats will be just one in the group in a very long time, well done to the artists because the world look gorgeous! Now to the soundtrack which together with the story what i hold as the strongest points of the anime. The anime is absolutely full of soundtracks that are all ranging from solid to taking over your life kind of good. Been posting over the last few days in the anime music thread soundtracks from Angel Beats and it will continue to fight against PMMM on what soundtracks that i will listen to the most. It's a worthy opponent for certain and i've not even listened to them all in their full glory!

Angel Beats is and will for a long time be one of my favorite animes to watch and it will be too long before i can watch it again and again and again. Angel Beats is one of the very few animes that i will write down when people ask for general recommendations. It did just that well!

I'm conflicted at how much I should say it impacted my opinion of the story since it was so heavily focused on the emotions (which were amazing), but Angel Beats did have the some really blatant plot holes I couldn't figure out after I watched it.

I can say that I didn't really think much of the plot holes until I had already finished it so that's definitely a good thing.

Just curious Rah have you seen Anohana? It's about the same in terms of emotional impact for me, maybe even slightly higher.

Finshed Code Geass R2.

It is...dissapointing.

It throws too much, too fast, with not enough thought put into in. The super-robot and weapon escalation, the avalanche of coincidences and the WTF stuff (most of it poorly explained or not at all).

Also Leluch is a moron...his final plan is redicolous.

It's on the list somewhere. Did add it a little while ago but not sure exactly when i'll get around watching it, especially considering i'm going to work my way through After Story for the coming weeks. Perhaps sometime closer to fall when i've had something very different inbetween to not overload on feels

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann or Legends of the Galactic Heroes?

LOGH is like an amazing classical composition. Beautifull, eternal, and takes time and experince and patience to fully appreciate.

TTGL is like ...well....someting simple, energetic and popular, but not really deep.

I don't really care for the deep stuff. If I watch one that happens to be deep, I am fine with it, but I don't seek them out.

All hail the obligatory post-NGE mecha anime mindfuck bullshittery!

But Zero Requiem saves it. Shame you didn't appreciate the last scene.

Well I guess you haven't seen the Gainax mecha shows in order. They are basically taking apart their own shows and they manage to do it while both parodying and playing straight the genre at the same time. That's not deep, but very clever.

Yeah, I had mixed feelings about Code Geass. I suppose overall I enjoyed it, but there was definitely some wacky s*** in there.

You mean the same one from episode 1? (and others)

Spoiler

I believe that is a different version of "aliez," with Mika Kabayashi singing. Won't hear the full version till the soundtrack is out in September.

Finished LOTGH. Dam, what an amazing series and great last three episodes. My far one of the best shows I have ever watched, easily in my top 5 anime list. Also one of the best space opera stories I have ever witnessed. So many great moments, happy and tragic, but the journey and destination was worth it.

Yeah, that's the one, though it's even more epic when you see the trainer mecha rise to battle the martian one. :)

Sim got banned in that thread about worst animated movies because he insulted me outside of this thread like an idiot.

He wants you all to know that he will be back soon and that you are all f**king ugly and should die.

I am a good person and friend for passing this info onto this thread.

House, I'm so happy that you enjoyed LotGH it's truly one of the greatest (and for me, THE greatest) anime out there. And I cried throughout 82 and 83. Yeah, I just couldn't believe it. I even went on the wiki to see if the narrator wasn't trolling me.

I'm dropping LOTGH. It's not a problem with the show itself it's just not my thing. Simply put if you like stuff like the witcher or game of thrones you will like this, if you can't stand stuff like that same as me don't bother with it.

Right time to watch something else perhaps a comedy.

GINTAMA BABY!
