Well, I finally watched SAO's first season or, should I say, what I thought was SAO's first season. Spoilers follow.

Here I was, placidly watching episode 14 as Kirito and Asuna re-joined the Brotherhood for an assault on yet another boss. I was suspicious when the battle ended rather quicker than I would've expected and was proven right only moments later as Kirito realizes that Heathcliff, the leader of the Guild, was actually Akihiko Kayaba, the game's creator who had imprisoned them in the first place, and a duel ensues. This is neither here nor there because the part I take issue with is when Kirito asks Kayaba why he did this and his answer is... that he doesn't know. Disappointing doesn't even begin to cover it. The episode ends with Kirito waking up in real life, despite having been killed in the game, and leaving his hospital bed to find Asuna.

 

While a lot of fans would've cried murder if season 1 had ended thus I think it would've been the best choice, particularly in light of what is to come. In the following episodes we're introduced to a cartoonish villain, Asuna is trapped in yet another game, and Kirito is forced once again to crack open his NerveGear in order to save her. I have yet to finish watching all 25 episodes of SAO but this transition between the first and second halves was done rather poorly to my mind. Other than that I'm enjoying the show. It does a good job of pulling at your heart strings here and there and I'm not afraid to say they got me with the Yui episodes. It's a pity that we didn't see how most of the secondary characters evolved in the game and only a couple make return appearances (Klein and Agil). I hope we'll get to see them return in Alfheim as well as Silica and Lisbeth.

So, I don't even know if people consider it an anime, but Adult Swim has reignited my interest for Samurai Jack. I've been on that lately.

Yeah, I think it's one of those that I have to file under the "really good cartoon" file along with Avatar, Teen Titans and the animated Batman series.

 

 

...I think I'm going to now go watch some of the Batman animated series.

Not a huge anime fan but there have been several series that I've thoroughly enjoyed. Such as FMA (both series), Gurren Lagann, Gantz, Rurouni Kenshin, Black Cat, and Berserk. I do remember Bleach being pretty good, though I stopped watching that long ago. That's pretty much all that I've enjoyed really. Most other anime/manga that are suggested tend to annoy me to the point that I start feeling bad for the people that do enjoy it. Such as Sword Art Online, I had to stop watching that because Kirito was trying too hard to be an edgy loner and then that cringe-worthy romance plot started to kick in. I'm planning on starting Attack on Titan mainly because what I've seen of it really reminds me of Gantz.

I seem to recall reading something about Japan considering The Simpsons anime.

 

Course I'll never see it that way, but y'know. East, West, that sort of thing.

Nah, there are animes for kids. I think its more based on inspirations for art styles, topics, little details, and things like that.
