Skip Death&Rebirth, compilation movies generally don't tend to be good anyways, and this is EVA we are talking about. Even the TTGL movies aren't good, original animation notwithstanding.

 

I say you watch the whole show first, then EoE. Seriously, those last two episodes are hillarious, I don't know how can anyone prefer sideshows of reused footage and coloured text to a full blown movie (I actually do, but NGE "toodeepforyou" hipsters are the worst).

 

Anything else apart from the rebuilds are like post-Mass Effect 3 ending DLCs. They are there, but not part of the phenomenom which set the world on fire. There's even an AU higschool manga ffs.

I've been searching for some mention of Chobits so that referring to it in someway wouldn't seem random, as I was watching some parts of it again recently, oh well I give up.

As suspected the princess survived and I'm very happy that she did, if she's too die it's still too early and something best saved for the second season. That is if it actually happen, she might instead end up being able to stay true to her wish to be friend in Inaho. I'd lie if I didn't say that I was a bit nervous about her actually not making it. Despite her incredibly noble and naive persona I've come to like her quite a lot and look forward to what she might do in the future. The scene in the showers where Rayet and the princess had a bit of a confrontation did its job very well and I really loved hearing Rayet say the words she did and actually get into the mind of the princess and actually have the princess admit that she perhaps had been a spoiled child and her role in all that has happened. I'm just as pleased to see Rayet at least for now survive since she's an element that add a bit of uncertainty to the entire thing which adds to the tension and the excitement. 

 

Slaine never really can experience a comforting situation it seems but that's just how he rolls, from one rough spot to another gives him a bit of a character and while i suspect he'll want to protect the princess and maybe this time not get shot out of the air I'm not too certain that's exactly what will happen. That said the coming 2 episodes got some very excellent promise that I do hope is realised. I got faith in Gen to make it happen!

Hey, Hey. Never said he was well adjusted. Dude is as deranged as they come, but at least he owns it. Every other character is a complete emotional wreck (other than maybe Kaji).

lol. It could go either way. Some people think it was groundbreaking in anime with more relatable(and arguably "sick" characters), and others think it's pretentious, too confusing, or something along those lines.

I personally think a regular anime fan should at least check out a few episodes.

Everyone in Eva is crazy.

Shinji being the biggest offender for a multitude of reasons I could sum up with one scene, and I'm pretty sure people know which one.

Depends on what you mean by relaxed, but good ones that I'd categorize as relaxed off the top of my head:

Aria the Animation (and its follow ups, Aria the Natural and Aria the Origination, which are arguably better, especially Origination. But they should be watched in order)
Kino's Journey (can be somewhat dramatic, also not exactly "fun", it's a pretty serious anime overall but a great one)
Mushishi (Like Kino's Journey, pretty serious)
Azumanga Daioh
Nodame Cantabile
Chihayafuru
Natsume Yuujinchou (again, a few episodes can be a bit dramatic, but they're the exception)
Shinryaku! Ika Musume

And that's all that comes to mind for now. Hopefully there's at least one in there that you haven't seen already.

Aldnoah was... meh. No real surprises this week. I can't even say it was exciting.

The Princess survived. Everyone who is surprised, say aye.

 

Ultimately it served as a catharsis/character development moment for most of the characters involved, and the utterly non-romantic relationship between them, but it kept waivering between almost plausible (the CPR/electroshocks in a dispassionate way) to the ridiculous (giving the loaded gun back to the unstable girl). It served enough of a purpose that the entire shower strangle scene wasn't wasted, per say, but the outcome overall was pretty predictable.

 

So, as a matter of fact, was the result of the Princess Broadcast once they got to the Earth command base- which is to say, nothing. The only people to receive it are the ones in on the conspiracy. About the only interesting note at the base was that it's intended to be a major refugee center and that the government is prepared/expecting the martians to conduct ethnic cleansing, making this base the Last Hope of Terrans.

 

Slaine got an episode without being beat up and/or tortured, despite having a pistol shot at his balls from close range... and instead got a shiney new mech. the Tharsis, apparently, as part of a 'you're free to do whatever, my debt of honor is repaid' from his current host. Slaine's state seems to be focusing on being disillusioned, but there's no doubt in my mind that he's still going to help the princess.

 

 

To finish up, the Conspiracy mastermind is going to drop his landing castle right on Earth HQ in a bid to end the war with a decisive battle. An episode (or three) of combat after our last few 'breather' episodes (pun intended) seem likely, but the result seems predictable at this point: mooks will be massacred, arrogant martians will be beaten by the power of analysis, Slaine will end up arriving to help the princess (but maybe fight with Orange), LT Marito will get back in a cockpit, and the Earth resistance will live on even if the base falls and lots of civilians die.
