The series is a good read. Hopefully the anime will follow suit too.
It better. I'm not interested in watching anything else (outside of Fairy Tail) that's out this year so it needs to be good.

Hmmm, no that's all well and good I'm sure there are plenty people that don't like it, I just haven't found as many. I thought Moeka was one of the coolest characters, for instance, so liking or really not liking her would have a fairly sizable impact on overall enjoyment of the show, so what you say makes sense. Also Okabe is all right, probably not my favorite necessarily, but that's balanced out by Makise for me.

Just a side note one day in the future I'm going to dump a book on you about SSY because holyshitIlovethatseries and I love talking about it whenever I find someone new who has watched it.
The amount of brainpower I have directed to that, TRS and the Zero Escape games this year is completely ridiculous.
P.S. also you should try reading the manga sometime. I could see you possibly finding it entertaining since they pretty much turned it into a straight up hentai. I mean why have meaningful character development when you have have loli lesbian sex amiright?

<Spoilers> That was an interesting comparison/analysis there on Moeka and all, I'm kind of just fascinated by extreme characters I guess, right or wrongness aside. When they had that scene in her apartment when she is just fiercely texting away all by herself, nothing in the room except like a ceiling fan basically, completely ignoring Okabe, it was a legitimately Evangelion-esque moment in what I thought was potentially just another anime. Plain or tame characters kind of freak me out, to a degree, but I'm just backwards like that.
I thought really Amane, Makise, Okabe, Mayuri, Ruka, all of them had their moments. I also enjoyed Okabe towards the end more, with his ridiculous laugh. He was always more aware than he gave off I think.

I finished season 2. Waiting on season 3 on netflix since that's where I watched the rest. I could just be like hook and sail the seas of piracy but I don't mind waiting a bit unless it's going to be super long.
I guess I should really make a post on my thoughts of season 2 here on the forums when I get a chance. I did like it, many of my thoughts are similar to season one although I felt like this season was a tad bit stronger. Not a huge fan of cliffhanger endings on a season finale but I admit as far as a cliffhanger goes it did intrigue me a fair bit.

Absolutely. Okabe had fun acting foolish which is what makes his character development into someone who was dealing with many of the things he joked about so satisfying. And yeah that laugh was pretty priceless ![]()
I get what your saying on liking extreme characters, even if I personally don't feel that way. I like it when they take a character who initially comes off as stereotypical and then uses that image of them to break away and give them some more down to earth characterization (which well I know hardly anyone here has played it, the Zero Escape games did fantastically in that sense) when characters start acting a way to such an extreme that part of me that takes it seriously just shuts off which is a shame because many of her qualities I get just not to the extent she takes with them.
been watching more FMA: Brotherhood
"Well, I'm not Superman, that's for sure. And I'm not Batman, or Spiderman, or Aquaman, or a merman, or a wolfman. I'm not a brahman, or common, or ramen. I'm not a caiman either, so you don't really need to worry about anything. My name is Phi. I guess you could say... I am no man."
Phi was cool.

I swear... Once you beat 999 and VLR you feel like you've joined an exclusive secret society of gamers. That series is basically my Madoka Magica to gaming.
And yeah Phi was awesome ![]()
It would probably take me an hour to do a top characters list from that series due to how wtfamazing some of them are though.. K, Luna, Phi, Zero, Tenmyouji.. There's just too many good characters in that series I tell ya!
I've been thinking about it and those games honestly had some of the best translating and VA I've seen in a western copy of a Japanese game to date. To this day I still go back and listen to lines from Zero the Third which puts a smile on my face :')
Yeah the series is the best VN series there is.
And you don't even get to f**k anyone! That says a lot.
And yeah the translation was great.
Part of what made Phi cool too.

I was reading up on some of the ways they worked around the Japanese honorifics and such and it's actually quite innovative, like the Zero the Third puns (which I love to death X3) or the nicknames he gives everyone. It's one of those times where you can tell the people translating it genuinely put in an effort to make it good and it really showed. There's not a single bad VA in the entire thing, and between both games there's really only one moment the translation causes an issue
And yeah it's funny how despite being a VN there's really no romance going on (well I guess there sort of is, but we both know it's not the main focus) actually SIgma hitting on all the girls in VLR is hilarious in retrospect ![]()
Ani was the one who convinced me to start this series and I think she may have raised my expectations a bit too much for VN's as a result X3
also...OH GOD WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT GAME NOW?! sgdfhshfhhfdds
Yeah all that.
And I really want them to make the next one.
![]()

So Shiba was holding back?! ![]()
This guy...

... was holding back.
And now he's been unleashed.
OMG!!!!
Yeah all that.
And I really want them to make the next one.
This is the problem with amazing stories not getting the recognition they deserve.
If they ever put it on kickstarter I would throw my entire wallet at it.
Started Season 2 of Spice & Wolf, just as good as I'd hoped
Oh, and just signed a petition that was made a few weeks ago hoping for a Season 3, hahaha
I just finished gurren lagann a few days ago and wow. What an amazing series.
I know I luv it!
Yeah, Gintama should always be saved for when you're down in the dumps.
I should have saved it for when I was down in the dumps during my exams.
Might have actually let that one dude live.
I think I should finish season 4 and avoid watching season 5. It's too good to be finished and put aside. Rough days might come.

You're cooler.
Incidentally...
Who's Phi?
@Steelclan.
You should be watching that everyday 6 days a week as part of a healthy lifestyle.
@Isi
As much as I love hentai, I wouldn't want my SSY to become that ![]()
Might check it out for the lolz
Unless it's hentai that retains its depth
Then I'll certainly go for it heueueueueeu
But yeah, give me all the books you can muster.
And we have to sway Chris so we can get our dose of brain-crack.
@Prince
THE PETITION IS A LIE, IT'LL NEVER COME ![]()
@Kaiser
Good idea, but I doubt you could get into anything else without having Gintama in the back of your head xD

Meanwhile Holo's like
I think she'd enjoy the fact that I'd walk to Mordor carrying an overly obese nun just so I could stand where she urinated the night before.
Yeah I'm even creeping myself out.
So I'll stop.
There are lines even I can draw.
But I can't draw lines so they're more like twirly things.
You read my intentions well from what gifs I used. Toradora is a show I've had in mind for a while and might aswell go with it now. It's a good a time as any and need to save glorious Gintama for those darker fall/winter days
I just finished Toradora it is my favorite anime (granted, my list of watched anime is pretty short). I was going to watch the Dub after I finished the Sub, but I couldn't stomach the voice acting, I definitely recommend the Sub.
@Sim
Phi is a character from the game Virtues Last Reward which is a sequel to Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors (999 for short) in the Zero Escape series for the 3DS which fyi is FANTASTIC. Little is known about Phi other then she's cool, smart and that she is no man.

As for Shin Sekai Yori's manga it does have some genuinely good moments but the gratuitous sex is just way too overdone for it to be taken seriously, which is a real shame imo. Don't get me wrong I have no issue with sex in a story, but in this case it's not tasteful, it takes away from the characters and it's so clearly done in the name of fan service that it has no place in a story meant to be taken seriously. And honestly it's pretty much written like something you'd expect in a 2nd rate hentai manga. The people complaining about the sex in GoT would laugh at how timid that is compared to this. Anyways that's my little rant on that. The good news is that both the TV series and the manga originate from a novel (which is not trashy like the manga) which a group of fans have currently being translating and putting online weekly so that is definitely worth checking out.

Man, I'm already neck deep in them Spice and Wolf novels, but I'll certainly consider it ![]()
Oh, and I think Geth will like Gintama's title for ch436...
"New Sentai Sentais seem to start out as things you could never approve of, but by the last episode, you don't want them to go away."

Oh and just checked out the manga... as much as I love this kind of sh*t it's only cool when you don't mess with something that tries to explore sex and sexuality maturely.
On it's own it's f*cking great for a perv like me.
But considering Shinksekai Yori's depth... THAT wasn't what it was trying to do.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm an advocate for sex in any narrative that wants to explore it or use it to expand on the contents of the plot. But the goal is not to distract from the narrative itself, rather, enrichen it or bring new elements to the table. Using erotica for the sake of erotica which has no other purpose but the turn the reader on is just as bad as having unnecessary violence/action or drawn out dialogue that leads to no where.
