Now don't get me wrong. I'm an advocate for sex in any narrative that wants to explore it or use it to expand on the contents of the plot. But the goal is not to distract from the narrative itself, rather, enrichen it or bring new elements to the table. Using erotica for the sake of erotica which has no other purpose but the turn the reader on is just as bad as having unnecessary violence/action or drawn out dialogue that leads to no where.

 

Keep reading. Just wait to see how they "develop" Saki in the later portions of the story

Shin Sekai Yori has within 2 episodes caught my interest. I'm very intrigued about a lot of it and it doesn't hurt that the anime has nailed the eerie aurea to 110%. 

Went with Toradora because.. well I had to pick something and hopefully it will continue to be a nice compliment to Yori. Started of alright so got hopes for it. Spice and Wolf is later down the line at some point. Maybe November or something...

I reached Gintama season 5 and I'm surprised with 16:9.

 

But my impression of the first episode was like this:

 

 

Then I realized what's going on in the next episode! So I've watched 203 episodes, but I'm gonna reserve/conserve the rest for the future.

Shin Sekai Yori has within 2 episodes caught my interest. I'm very intrigued about a lot of it and it doesn't hurt that the anime has nailed the eerie aurea to 110%.

Be sure to let us know your thoughts on SSY. It takes a while for the story to start pulling everything together but once it does it's brilliant.

Saki is one of my favourite female characters in anime.

I freaking love her character.

Yeah I completely agree. Saki was one of my favorite female protagonists in anime as well. Her final decision and scene with the antagonist can literally bring me to tears even to this day.

On a related note, tried to introduce my brother to Gintama. He just said "meh it's ok" and continued watching FMA:B

And I'm so glad she did it.

Seriously, I do not know how this anime isn't so popular.

Still, many great things aren't in all mediums.

And what I really love about her is the source of her strength. It reminds me so much of ASOIAF in the sense that, her strength lies in her attempts (which are not always successful) to overcome her many flaws and yet remain in conflict with them rather than suddenly overcoming all and turning into a bad-ass for no good reason. Her "bad-assery" is very human, therefore flawed, and not at all out of this world. Which is ironic given that the Cantus powers are actually god-like.

She is a very "human" character in that she is flawed but she really tries to make the right decision with the information she has. For me what makes her so amazing is her will to discover the truth and yet to still try to remain moral despite being caught in an almost impossibly morally grey situation. I'll probably toss you a post on her when I get home and have a better chance to discuss my views on her because there's quite a bit I could say on her character alone.

I will say this. That final choice she made really brought the series together for me. It's genuinely a powerful choice that couldn't have been made easily for her and I have a great deal of respect for her for making it.

And yeah she was a total cutie. Definitely had a crush on her character.

True. I myself reached a point were I could only enjoy myself if a series was truly great in every proportion, to the point that I got really picky with games, literature and shows. So I changed my mindset and just try to acknowledge whatever I am enjoying for what it is. Still, I tend to get a bit worrisome when I expected something rather "lighthearted" and it suddenly delves into something more "serious" than what it initially started as. Had such worries for Gintama in certain episodes, but glad that they have proved to execute them adequately so far. 

 

And lol @ Ghost in the Shell. Yeah, people on the web tend to recommend for everyone into anime, so decided to see for myself what the fuss is all about of it. Gonna be interesting.
