I haven't gotten to watch Chaika yet because reasons, but what did I just read Reezy?

I don't even know why I started reading it. I think I only picked it up in the last year and a half or so. The fact that it doesn't take itself seriously is definitely one of the reasons it sh*ts on Bleach for me. Plus Mashima actually utilizing more than 2 characters. Oh and dem boobs.

 

That lightheartedness is exactly why I picked up FT to begin with, I had recently read through Walking Dead, GoT, and Shiki. Needed something less...dramatic cause I kinda got tired of that narrative style. And yeah it's basically like you said, it makes you laugh plus actually spends time with the supporting cast. It might not be a revolutionary concept but at the same time it's not really trying to be.

Finished Mirai Nikkei / The Future Diary. Well if I were to be objective about the show, it is a solid 7/10 in my opinion, but it is still one of my all time favorite anime shows.

 

Why? I guess it had to do with the level of emotional impact it had on me and how much attached I got to it. The show made me laugh, it made me interested in the development of the story and characters, it mad me scared, and it made me cry on certain scenes. No other anime has made me feel so much emotions as Mirai Nikkei. I do love how well developed many of the characters were and I even felt sad for several Diary Holders. I loved Yuno, in a very twisted way. She was a rather interesting character, and time and time again I forgot while watching the show how very twisted her sanity is and what lengths she would go to achieve her goals. I hated Yuki in the beginning but I grew to like him a lot across the show and I was pleased that he had proper character development (many characters did). I totally shipped Yuki and Yuno throughout the show and I was really in tears in the last episode. Also in the OVA sequel, but that was tears of joy, which I rarely literally have.

 

The show has its problems, mostly its plot holes that it is riddled with, but I can't help loving this show. Despite it being a 7/10, it is easily in my Top 5 slot. I don't tend rewatch animes, but this one I can see doing in the future.

 

Have no clue what anime to watch next. Gonna look for a reviews and public opinion on something good. Kinda dig the romance aspect now so might check for some anime of that feature.

What am I supposed to do with you? I can't tell if you expect me to take you seriously or not.

 

Yeah, so non-spoiler spoiler. It ends in a cliffhanger. It's also not a very convincing one, considering what the focus of the show has been so far, and how they've already pulled a similar cliffhanger already.

 

It wasn't bad, and the rest of the episode as a whole was perfectly enjoyable, but my advice? If you haven't started watching it already, watch it in January when the series resumes. It's a stupid sort of cliffhanger.

Aldnoah. Zero

I'm rendered quite speechless about the finale. It just suprised me so many times over. It's really hard to say where to start but I suppose I can get the usual stuff over. That the soundtrack once again was brilliant and that art and animation was as to be expected of good quality. Now with that out of the way I'll try to deal with the finale itself.

GODDAMN IT SLAINE!

The fight between Inaho and the count was about what I expected it to be. The count with the cooler toys but Inaho with thinking and the result from them fighting against each other without inteference went the way that was expected. A bit predictable perhaps but considering what happened afterwards I'm not going to complain about a bit of predictability.

Obviously Slaine would face Inaho again. Now he managed to intefere with the fight between Inaho and the count right after Seylum had shut down the Aldnoah core of the landing castle. He finally get to see the princess and her aiding Inaho. Only to see her get shot.. more than once and she might be dead or she might be alive. I don't know exactly what to believe about that right now and I'll not be sure about it until the next season start. Slaine then lose everything and shot the heck out of the count. Slaine of all people knew that the count would kill the princess if he could.. and he helped the count at least shot her. Slaine never has a good time it seems. The princess getting shot was a bit of a suprise although something that was possible to happen. That Slaine directly afterwards shot Inaho and if Inaho is dead or alive I'm as unsure about as the princess but it wouldn't suprise me one bit if he's actually dead, you usually don't survive that kind of a shot. Then we get to hear a bit of a narration from I believe his sister Yuki Kaizuka and she mention that the whereabouts of the princess is unknown and not a word about Inaho is mentioned. That's our end of this season and that's one heck of a cliffhanger for keeping me interested and in very dire need of knowing what will happen next. This finale is not perfect but it blew my expectations out of the water and Aldnoah did after the last two decent episodes end this season far better than I had hoped.

Just watched the first episode of Hitsugi no Chaika. Bloodier than I expected. I need to find somewhere else to watch it because the comments on gogoanime about it are stupid. Some dude actually complained about antagonistic unicorns messing up the positive legend of a fictional creature.

I made it to...episode 4, maybe? I wasn't that big of a fan.

Yes, the ending cliffhanger kinda came out of nowhere, but it didn't set my heart on fire. The best part in the series so far, for me, was watching the Martians first land on Earth at the end of episode 1. That gave me absolute chills.

A few people spammed some kawaii gifs and pictures so I figured I should check it out. Not sure where it's headed after one episode but the characters seem interesting enough.

They were ok, but it just kinda lost its appeal once I hit episode 4. Granted, that could be entirely on me.

Remember back when it seemed Aldnoah was going to be global in scope, an epic war between two sides?

 

Yeah, I forgot about that to. There's nothing invalid about having a story about a small group of people in a much wider context, but it certainly lacks a little 'oomph.' Especially when most of the character arcs to date have been isolated, rather than building upon eachother. Strong character building Aldnoah has not.

 

It's hard to call a deliberate decision a 'weakness,' but there's certainly a feeling of missed opportunity when it comes to all this. This really would have benefited from being a 50 episode series rather than 25: as it is, we had 'the invasion', 'the first major terran victory,' and about eight episodes of padding with minimal skirmishing between them.

I liked Chaika a lot. It's just my sort of thing I suppose. Though many of the characters that aren't part of the main 4 are severely underdeveloped. Vivi and Gillette are good but the other members of the shave brigade are kinda meh.

What, you don't think he'll survive it? It will turn out to have been a graze, or something. After all, Princess has died... what, three, four times now?

 

I get that we're supposed to believe he's dead, but that's the problem here: we're supposed to think that. Kind of like we are supposed to think that the Princess is dead, just like we were the previous two times. And there's already serious debate about whether she got a fatal shot (my bet is no). They've pulled this card so many times already, it's not particularly credible- even with the blood from the headshot. Aside from my skepticism of killing a character, it wouldn't be the first time they played fast and loose with the animation either- remember the camera drones that magically appeared in episode 3 after being absent in episode 2?

 

This is why my reaction to the episode is a big sigh, rather than suspense. I can see it playing out either way- and that's the problem. Considering the time already invested in the three main characters (who have between them gotten about 85% of the screen time and character development), I have a hard time seeing them actually ditching two of them. Especially the Princess, since without her the Earth has no Aldnoah tech and no real diplomatic card to mix things up.

 

Of course, they could just kill one of them, in which case Inaho is the most likely. I'd find that disappointing, because besides not having a good replacement in for him (cue the accusations of over-powered), he's actually been a surprisingly refreshing (and subtly fleshed out) character. He's a rare character with a personality that's actually subdued, rather than non-existent, and even without any romance subtext his relationship with the Princess was one of the primary characterization devices of the series so far. The only thing comparable to Inaho's relationships on the ship with the Terrans has been Slaine's trauma-of-the-week with the Martians.

 

Of course, it could all be legit and they may have thrown away a majority of what little development the series has right now. In which case my opinion of the series will go down a fair bit, and there won't be much to keep my interest. They'll have to build characterization from ground zero unless they radically expand the ability of the supporting cast, and they'll likely struggle with that as well.

 

My gut says Princess is alive and Inaho dead, but I'll hold out a string of hope.

I'll probably pass on S2 and wiki it at the end myself if Inaho isn't back. Actually, consider me pre-emptively quit just on the expectation.

Who is at least still alive but I doubt she'll move from side character. Now IF she became the new MC and followed in Inahos footsteps on being logical(not totality losing her emotional side but becoming harden after his death) I would dig it, but Slain? Nope, Slain can honesty go burn in a fire.
