This is probably why the episode was such a focus on her, they did the same with Sheele too. But dam Chelsea is so fricken kawaii in the anime, this is going to suck Plus Bols family is appearing in the next episode....

So I watched the latest Aldnoah.Zero

How many times is this show going to keep "killing" the same character. I can only see the same character die so many times before I just become numbed off to it. This will be the third time we've watched the princess "die" it seems to be becoming a thing.

 

I had to slow clap Slain there. He couldn't have messed up any worse. He ran into that battle with absolutely no clue on who's side he was on (personally I thought the right choice was obvious.. but eh) and got everyone killed (or so we think) as a result. Sure he couldn't have predicted where his actions would take him but he obviously didn't even attempt to think about it beforehand so I can't say I feel much sympathy for him. Curious as to how his Aldnoah drive powered on.

 

I'd give the first half a 6.5/10. It's entertaining and has some cool moments but as it stands it really hasn't done much for me yet. I'm not very invested in many of the characters atm, and some of them kind of annoy me. I do hope the 2nd half picks up a bit more as I still think it has the potential to be even more.

 

I read some /a/non's evaluation of Slaine, and I'll post it here as it really makes a great deal of sense in explaining his actions. Pardon any language that gets throught the filter, I was too lazy to edit it.

"Honestly as much as I am an Eggfag, Slaine's actions were understandable, the ****** was raised as a slave, he has a mentality of a dog, the martians are his master and the princess is the little girl that played with him, he's an emotional extrovert and sees stuff from a personal perspective, the only time he tried to side with the earthlings he got stabbed in the back which is enough for him to loose his trust and treat them like an enemy, Shazam treated him good and provided him some comfort, he became his leader and master figure, he was stuck in a middle of a chaotic battle, Slayne can't do **** for himself and Shazam is the only one he knew there, a martian showed a bit of a kindness for him and his "allies don't shoot each other" words got into him, so it was natural for him to defend his master and not help the earthlings who shot him down."

 

That said, I still feel that

Inaho was foolish to draw his pistol. In that situation he likely wasn't fully rational, but that seemed like a classic example of suicide by cop. Also, Hime is definitely alive. Calling it now: Slaine takes her back to Mars to recover and goes full on subterfuge to overthrow the martian empire, Hime wakes up and sees the monster Slaine has become in his quest to avaenge her and is forced through circumstance to murder him (remember the first OP, in which she reluctantly raises a gun at an unknown opposite).

Slains actions are in-character, that does not mean you have to like it or not get upset at him for it. Me and rah have talked about this on steam(where the cool guys talk)

Personly I do believe the princess will be revived by Slain, this would explain why her body is gone. Inaho I do think is dead. While the shot he took might not kill him the blood loss will and I doubt his sister or Inko will get him the help he needs, this will make Inko the protag as she already showed in the final episode that she had started to walk the same road as Inaho(as she wast he one to calm down his sister and agree with Inahos ideas, this shows she is adapting the logical mind he ha, with her own quirkiness. I think if Inaho does die which is most liekly the case she is the best character to take that mantle because she hsowed that she was following in his footsteps and does have a big connection to him. Still sad that he is probably dead though, he was a very refreshing protag

Since bro, isi and everybody's dog seems to be kind of 'meh' with Aldnoah I'll wait for the second half to come up before I watch it. Hopefully it turns up a notch and becomes an 8, maybe a 9.

It's not really meh, it's more that after episode 3, it kinda lost it's track and potential, while I do think the last episode was very solid, so do others for the most part, laot of the episodes(more so ep10 and 11) where very lackluster. It might have to do that after 3 it was a new writer going off a guy(Gens notes) so that might explain it. Not want to act like Gen is the master of storytelling, he is just a fantastic writer and you can easily see the change in quality.

That's why I do think he's dead which sucks, I just say maybe just because well we still don't know who died and who is still alive The only characters we know for sure are still alive is Slain, Inko and Inahos sister. Inaho probability of survival is 0.01%, Princess has a 50 50 and everyone else is a giant mystery.

Seems to me Slain didn't have to get involved in the battle at all which would have been a far better idea with him being so confused about his allegiances.

 

Personally I think he had better information to act on then just about anyone else in the series in that he knew why this war war happening (basically a personal vandetta) and for him to actively help someone who is out to kill a girl just to keep a war going because they have some semblance of honor seems ridiculous to me. Are his beliefs so weak that they could have been so shaken just by discovering that the people pushing this war have some degree of honor? This was a person willing to be tortured to protect the princess, it seemed pretty clear that helping saazbaum was directly putting the princesses life at risk, and then he acted shocked when the person he helped got exactly what they wanted? Don't go into a live battle without knowing who's side your on or your just going to get everyone killed pointlessly.

 

Slain gave the antagonist EXACTLY what he wanted because he didn't put any thought whatsoever into his actions and he as a result got the person I was under the impression he was trying to protect killed. I see his actions as being understandable in the same way I did for Suzaku from Code Geass, his ideals are interesting but only a complete fool would willingly ignore the reality of the situation to keep those ideals. The man was in a live battle and he chose the side of a psychopath perpetuation a war over his own vandetta even if he didn't realize his actions would have such immediate consequences. 

 

I always thought he was loyal to the princess, not mars, not earth but her, but now I don't think he's even thought about it.

Me and Ani tend to keep our book posts to private chat where we are free to derp out a little more and go more offtopic. I often joke that we have our own language of gushing and that we can tell what each individual stupid noise the other person makes means I know you wouldn't mind listening to us gush and derp out in the thread but it's probably best we spare many of the other users having to listen to pages and pages worth of talking about how amazing Romi Park is, or eyeball licking jokes, or which crack pairings are our favorites and so on and so forth.
