Probably popularity is 1 part quality and 4 parts hype, as good as KLK was it was only popular because they knew how to whip their audience into a foaming at the mouth frenzy.

Just as good anime come out and go unnoticed because they didn't have the elements of hype, the savvy to take advantage of them, and a bit of luck for good measure.

 

I mostly agree although I think KLK was just an absurdly entertaining show.

 

I can't figure out for the life of me why Steins;Gate is as well received as it is http://myanimelist.n...253/Steins;Gate  I mean I can see why people like it but how can it make any top 10 list? What specifically did they do that raises them so far above any other story? I have yet to hear anyone actually attempt to go into an in-depth explanation as to what specifically makes it so good but apparently enough people think it is for it to be voted far ahead of just about every other anime made.

I'll be looking forward to all the novels just as I did back with PMMM! A lot of what you said has struck me aswell as I've slowly worked my way through SSY and I'm kinda happy that I only really watch 2 episodes a night to get the proper time to actually think before I get new stuff to think about. It's a show that get better the more I think about it and try laying a different kind of puzzle!

 

 

Alright went and finished Toradora as I said earlier. It's a solid romantic comedy that was by no means boring to watch. Perhaps a bit slow at times but the last 5-6 episodes or so were pretty awesome so instead of losing in quality at the end it actually improved which is great to see for once. It has a good set of characters that were enjoyable to watch and while I'm more than familiar with a lot of the tropes used they felt fresh enough to not bother me. It got its own take on a romantic high school comedy which it really had to have and it did well enough. Art/animation were solid but not exceptional or that impressive, didn't weaken the experience but didn't elevate it either. Soundtrack wise it had decent OP's and ED's but I can't say that I remember more than maybe a few tunes from any other track used during the show. If you're up for romantic comedies then Toradora won't be a bad choice at all! Expect a slightly different experience than usual but nothing revolutionary. It's solid in everything it does.

 

 

Now to pick something else to watch, certainly won't be anything like Toradora/Sakurasou or any of the far too many shows that I've watched that's like them.

I'll probably find something to watch, it really shouldn't be possible with over 100 shows to pick from. Might also start thinking on what to watch after SSY since I got 2 evenings left to watch there aswell. 

 

 

I'm ultra biased towards LotGH.

 

I'd put it before sex with Katy Perry for god's sake.

If my memory serves me correctly (it usually doesn't, it conspires against me) it is 13 episodes long and two movies that tie off the series. I found it to be unique in concept, it starts out with a guy suffering from amnesia waving a gun around in front of the White House while naked. No schools or High Schools

It used to be on Netflix, I don't know if it still is because I don't have access to it anymore. It caught my eye and is what got me hooked on anime.

That or Steins;Gate really is amazing despite Isichar's undying axe to grind. 

 

It's certainly not as bad as I probably make it out to be, although there are aspects of it I will argue to the death were just poorly written and contrived. Really it just comes down to the amount of recognition it receives.

Today I was told it was one of the best animes ever made

It's ok. I got so annoyed just thinking about it earlier that I made an account on MAL just to rant about how undeserving it is of it's score and recognition so I got most of it out of my system now.

Berserk is one of those mangas that I can't go more then a year or two before I just get the urge to reread it all. It's about as close as a story can come to matching my love for PMMM
