I do understand. Poor tastes. And PLOT. Lots of PLOT.
Hey I watch it for the humor and action! If I wanted plot I could go watch highschool of the dead or something.

Eh... Lotion called Reinhard a absolute d*ck, but I'm inclined to disagree. Unless Griffith becomes something completely OTHER than a magnificent bastard, It'll be little chance of me hating him.
I didn't say absolute d***.
I said d***-ish because of his insatiable desire for dominance and ego. He HAS to rule everything.
Aslo, is it just me or did Guts magically shirnk? Wasn't he like twice Ceskas hight? He was a HUGE mofo.
I've only read the first Berserk manga. The one that is about that princess that has a monster father. The father wasn't a monster but he became one because the real monster was the wife of the father... Dat Biotch.

Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are both great directors and at the same level. jk-lol
BTW choose your favorite directors in my recent poll in the 'last film you watched' topic.
I just finished watching the first four episodes of Cowboy Bebop (welcome back to 1998, everybody) and spent all of episode 1 and most of episode 2 trying to place Spike's dub voice and then it hit me, Steven Blum. The man's in everything
Have you ever wondered whether these themes are intentional or not? It's obvious that some authors do want to convey a certain message, but other times, it feels to me that the author simply wrote the story he wanted and the themes we connect with the narrative are a consequence of the author's unconscious mind working the story he wants to write.
Honestly, I personally believe over-analyzing a piece of work is as big of an issue as everything else.
Humans WANT sense and meaning. They search for it. They connect dots. All dots. Any dots.
They can FIND meaning where there isn't any easily enough.
I remember reading a disseration about Super Mario being a capitalist propaganda piece or something like that.
Which is why I don't bother too much with symbolism and deeper meaning. A work either emotionally gets to me or it does not. Simple as that.

I just used the first appropriate image. But fine, just for you, I added another one to the post. ![]()
With 600% more plot.

1997-2000 was an awesome period of my life. It's a shame I didn't know lots of cool stuff (games, movies etc.) if I knew it would be an epic period.
I think Lotion had a hard time in Yugoslavia in that time though.
God I wish I had that picture in school.
God I wish I had that picture in school.
Me too, I actually copied and saved that picture. Never know when it'll come in handy.

But Super Mario is capitalist propaganda.
Also you can't knock that kind of shenanigans as a way to get some enjoyment in the essay writing. For one paper I compared the Star Wars trilogies while trying to argue that the second trilogy was shaped by predominant cultural trends favoring openness and democracy as compared to the cynicism and totalitarianism in the 70s trilogy, with the resulting implications for natural law.
Basically, I watched the last fight in Star Wars Episode III and went WHOA AWESSSOME.

Muahaahha
Just remember - Keiser Rainhard is a d****.
Anyway, ego? God, for what he does he is the most humble man in the galaxy. The dude's a military genius as well as politically competent. He rose through the ranks of a nobility that detested him. He reformed the Empire, focusing on social policies and making that damned half a better place for everyone.
His conquest was a promise he made. It's not out some unquenchable thirst for power, rather, a goal he set himself since he was a kid. If he were that, he'd have obsessed over Iserlohn when the last remnants of democracy took sanctuary there.
So sure, he has to rule everything. But that hardly makes him a d*ck. Man, the dude ALWAYS fights on the front-lines. Even when he was
So less of a d*ck and more of a freaking idol. A man beyond men.
Now, if he pranced around with his army and bombed the sh*t out every planet, laughed as he murdered thousands and twirled his little moustache I'd agree.

ETA:
THIS IS TOO MUCH
I CAN'T HANDLE IT ANYMORE
THIS IS LIKE, THE MOST EPIC THING EVER
Epic is not the word I´d use for anything related to the Eclipse. It makes the Red Wedding look like a picnic by comparison.

Hold on! This place is rather relaxed about NSFW images and manga site watermarks, isn't it?
That means I could post a bunch of pictures of Prison School and get away with it?
YES! I'm gonna do exactly that because you people need to see how god damn amazing ecchi comedy can get. It's ludicrous and twisted, escalates amazingly, with an artist so great at his rather realistic art style that he can easily draw a lifelike portrait of Charles Darwin!
Spoiler'd for size

I've posted some KissXSis here before.
This place exists in a realm beyond the BSN.

That is certainly pretty out there. Beats Prison School in sexual acts for sure, but on the other hand, this manga shows fan service in more explicit, almost gross-out manner
Prison School. Charles Darwin. Reeeeeeeeeeeeead

The Eclipse is one of the most memorable moments in anime/manga for me.
In a way everything in Berserk sort of revolves around that moment. I'm curious to see if the manga version Sim is read has the 2 extra chapters in it. Supposedly they were removed because the creator thought it gave too much away too early on.
I think I'll have to read it all again, just to process everything. It was terrifying, it was seriously terrifying. Not that I was scared, but when you're so sucked in and then THAT happens?
This manga has gone from The Witcher to Lovecraft in like, an instant, and it never felt contrived or out of place.
And when you thought Gatts couldn't get more badass...

He does.
In regards to reading too much into things. I remember Dean writing a parody post about Mass Effect being pro fascist or something, it was pretty funny.
