That is certainly pretty out there. Beats Prison School in sexual acts for sure, but on the other hand, this manga shows fan service in more explicit, almost gross-out manner
Prison School. Charles Darwin. Reeeeeeeeeeeeead
That's pretty damn impressive.
@Hats
Gotta ask him to link that xD

xD
Anyway, there was like a 2 year time-gap. Is that meant to be, or are there any chapters in between?

I'll try and find it later, the best course would be to ask Dean about it (he might still have a link handy).

Which episodes? I need to check when I find the opportunity.

I'm reading the manga ![]()
so ch90-something (I'm currently at 97)
It's our job to get him to watch SSY.
THAT INCLUDES ANIMA AND BRO TOO!
Oh alright! I'll just have to land first and continue to process exactly what happened. Also might've found a show to watch now when I'm done with SSY. Kinda considering Ghost In a Shell and with the seasons having a decent number of episodes I'll reach the 45+ episode mark that I wanted.
SSY!
Morning coffee hasn't quite kicked in yet so there's a good chance this will make minimal sense but here we go! SSY related on the point of dialogue Rah brought up above:
Regarding Berserk:
I've had a passing interest in it for ages now and Isi has thoroughly hyped it in the past (since he knows we share a love of certain types of stories). I'm still torn on it though in knowing how rapey it gets. Still undecided what I'll do with it because storytelling hype is a really good way to hook me. >___< Claymore being a bit of a toned down almost analogue to it likewise piqued my interest, though from what I gather there the manga is the far better choice between the manga and anime.
Oh yes the novel, another thing that I'll have to take time to read at some point.
Got a friend watching Spice & Wolf, she enjoys it

Might also like Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, though that show isn't finished and it appears it won't be in the future. Which is damn shame because the show is pretty good. So if one can deal with unfinished series and liked Spice and Wolf, this one is recommended too.
Isi:
You know I adore Lovecraft and any sort of thing that successfully pulls off the cosmic horror vibe of his work (IE all my asfhaosfh about the Old Gods from WoW
), so that aspect most definitely appeals to me as far as Berserk is concerned. I mean don't get me wrong, you also know I appreciate worlds that are written where everything isn't sunshine, puppies and rainbows. I guess the main thing that holds me up is worry that the rape content is there just for 'character development', cause if there's one thing that makes me rage and that I feel is one of the laziest forms of storytelling, it's that. I mean I have a lot of useless information about series I've never watched or read just by my enjoyment of trivia and such. I could be wrong about this cause I've only seen it in passing but... Berserk stuff, no idea if Sim has gotten here so I don't know how to make the warning:
I know Sim laid it out nicely regarding Guts and Griffith's tropes and how they both defy them technically, which totally appeals to me as well. It's just a sort of storytelling that's always made me grunt and roll my eyes. Who knows, maybe I'll still finally bite the bullet and give it a go because the potential really intrigues me. I might just have to rage at you for a little bit to get it out of my system. ![]()

I was pretty crushed that Spice and Wolf didn't get finished, it definitely deserved it. I added Maou Yuusha to my watch list, it sucks when you have to head canon things you like because they didn't get the proper send off they deserved. Head Canon Ahead:
Isi: Deeerp. It was you. X3 This is why I'm not allowed to read lengthy discussions when I have a headache, cause my brain absorbs things wrong. My apologies. :S
But yeah, that spoiler pretty much does prove that I'm more than likely going to rage about it come that time, buuuut it sounds like you will too so we'll just wall of text rage til it's all better. ![]()
Compared to all the other emperor and political leaders in the alliance, Reinhard was a saint. Not only did he do so much reformation(there's a reason his own subjects loved him and how even Yang knew the empire was at its best), he had an admirably level of respect for his enemies like Yang.

Rape is a sensitive topic, and I don't really think there's an exact right way to go about it. Racism, prejudice and the rest of them are far easier to handle.
The only thing I can say (which might sound like a joke) is that Berserk is entirely apathetic as to who is the victim. So you can't really point out "BAH, HENTAI" since the guys get it just as hard too ![]()
Isi's issue is to me, a very intriguing part of the story. Not because it happened, but WHY. What enables the human mind to shut itself down after such a horrifying violation of what could be considered both the body and soul. It doesn't matter how strong you are (and Caska is pretty strong) it brings this tragic, yet human element to the narrative.
These characters aren't going to beat everything through sheer willpower. They'll break, run, cry; they'll give in to their instincts, they'll commit evils that go against their ideals. These characters are imperfect and that's what makes Berserk great.
So far, the more gruesome parts of the story have done nothing but further what Berserk is: a horror story. Not in the conventional "ooooh spooky" sense, but it certainly can class itself under the genre. Doom, despair, destruction and demon domination. It's a world that says f*ck you to the reader and f*ck you to the characters. It's merciless and terrifying and I certainly would not want to live in it.
I know 'rape' is something of a trope in anime/manga. Hell, it's used for freaking fanservice and when it's not: pointless drama. After the rape the victim sits down, traumatised for a chapter and goes on with life as if it never happened.
At least Berserk has the decency to show us just how cruel and horrible it is and what it can do to even the strongest person.

THANK YOU, HOUSE.
Yang saw that the Empire was the best way to go for the present. However, his reason to against autocracy was plain and simple.
To quote LOTR... "a lesser son to greater sires." It's exactly what Yang was worried about. A monarchy is only as good as its monarch. The moment Reinhard dies, what then? Will his successor be just as good? Will his policies be reformed back to the old ways?
It's simple. You don't need a degree in political science to understand that.
Hell, just read Accursed Kings *wink wink, nudge nudge.* Philip the Fair did WONDERS for France (albeit, made a few mistakes here and there) but overall, medieval France was the most powerful kingdom in Europe.
Then his son took over.
And doooooooowwwwwwn it went.

Anyway, I'm gonna go to my buddy's house to watch another 10 episodes of Naruto. Hopefully the quality won't go further down (and by that I mean Snake-Man being stupid again by doing stupid things for the sake of being mean.)
Anima. Don't let its barbaric nature put you off. It's a well told story that isn't afraid to be explicit. Politics, sex, war and violence. It shows us both the worst of humans and the best. I'd say give it a shot until you reach ch90 then make up your mind then (that's after the Eclipse
)
Ghost in the Shell and Chihayafuru. Just by looking at them that will be one interesting combination and neither really sound like anything that I've watch too recently.

Such diversity de geso!
I miss Squid Girl already
