Oh yeah and JoJo too that's the most meaningful series ever.

Anyways stupid BGE are gonna shut my power off for the night soon so I better eat before I have to eat in the dark like Sim does.
So BYE.

Anyway Isi, give me a moment. Gonna take a nap and I'll be back to reply.
I'll watch this to get my brain power working again
My favourite diary in any thing ever. The prose for the monologue is just...
HUAHFAUFUHUduahdiuoahHAOIUFHOIFUU
Yes.
That.
Shakespeare hasn't got sh*t on me.
@Sim
As someone who is actually currently considering playing this game can I watch it safely without it spoiling anything major?
Also no rush on the response. It was written well my brain was all mushy anyways and I'm sure I'll probably just be tempted to drop another one on you when you respond anyways X3 You've opened the flood gates of talking about something that I'm not capable of shutting up over.
Guest_simfamUP_*
Oh yeah, you can hear that to your heart's content ![]()
And good, I need to gush over Berserk with someone.
I can't with that douche Kamen.
He didn't even gush about LotGH with me...
Even after he promised ![]()
Good thing House watched it soon after I did.
Listening to it now and loving it. It's like reading the dialogue in 999 where it just feels like something that is actually well written. Plus the voice is just easy to listen to.
I hate making promises to watch things or talk about them X3 Especially when I'm in a situation like right now where I'm watching like 1-2 episodes per week.
Madoka and Watemote are my personal favorites from that list.
Add Shin Sekai Yori to that list and you'll make me a happy camper
I did your work and got him to watch them.

I still haven't watched Sekai Yori ;___; (#Liar!)
@Grav
Tis a win for anime as far as I'm concerned.
Gonna see about trying to put Katawa Shoujo on my tablet before bed btw. If I do I'll make sure to let you know what I think in the game thread.
So far I'm thinking of seeing Rin's path. What's your suggestion?

It's ok. Hardly anyone has.. ![]()
Damn yo Sim! You have no idea how badly I want to play this game now.. I was already considering getting it and that was just fuel ontop of the fire.

I really like her path, and her overall path story is good and interesting. But that might be because of how it hits close to home. If you'd like, I could post a guide on how to get into a characters path, but always answer Yes, not Maybe when the doctor asks you a question.
Maybe only brings more pain.
My first playthrough I'll probably just do what comes naturally and see where that takes me, but I may ask for that guide after that. I suspect there might be pain, followed by tears of manliness.

I shouldn't say there's no strong female presence in the series after the eclipse, it's just noticeably less. There's 2 main female characters you still have to meet and I find them both interesting, they're just not strong the way Caska was. I'm interested to hear your opinions on the 2nd set of characters you meet with the post eclipse.
I've been thinking a lot about this series today so I'm going to dump some thought's on you here.
Even though the eclipse was the most memorable moment in the series and one of the most important you still have so much greatness ahead of you that I can't help but get a bit excited just waiting for you to get to certain parts. The world of Berserk begins to change significantly which will become more and more apparent with many aspects of the story as you go on.
Spoiler
P.S. excuse my bad grammar. You should be use to it by now
What I loved about the Eclipse was its build up. The foreshadowing wasn't really subtle, however, everything from the moment Griffith takes that wagon, the entire atmosphere becomes so eerie and foreboding that you are constantly left at the edge of your seat, even if nothing in particular is happening that could really be called 'exciting.'
I love this since it furthers their duality. Though the rift between them now is huge, and Griffith's contrast is far more apparent (which in a way, I dislike, but only because my love fore subtlety in writing) the effect remains the same.
To be honest, I doubt I'll ever try to wrap my head around the 'how.' And yet again, like you, it does make me question Gatts' role in causality (or however these dudes call it.) If we are to take into account the conditions behind Griffith's transformation, was his absolute and utter downfall necessary?
In some way, Guts is the cause of this. The only man to have never bent to Griffith's will and stand equal to him. Thus Griffith seeks to reassure himself through the complete seduction of the princess. It's purely a emotional act, hardly the pragmatic one we've come to know Griffith as. In a way, it's totally out of character.
But for a commoner to sleep with royalty... well, it's pretty evident as to how this would assert his control over people.
And so then there's Guts.
Is he an anomaly? Or does he exist within causality? If the latter, then would the duality be stronger? Maybe, on a cosmic level, having them bound by fate is a romantic a tragic relationship can be. If you can call it a relationship.
But now, I like to this him the former. He wasn't MEANT to survive, but he did. Griffith never had something he could trust and look at like Guts, he was beyond his own destiny.
I'm glad to hear that world change is gradual. But even if it wasn't, I wouldn't have felt it contrived at all.
Ass pulls are only ass pulls if they lack foreshadowing or any sort of logical explanation that supports the shift in narrative. The same goes with any twist or other 'shock' devices that come with narrative.
Let's use ME3 as an example. If we were told in ME2 that something was being dug up in Mars, the Crucible would never have felt like such an obvious 'I don't know what to do next' ass-pull.
Of course, you cannot compare the Eclipse to that, but it serves the same point.
As for the other chapters... like I said, I haven't. Or I don't think so. But I do want to read them but I'm too afraid to go looking for them in case some ass-wipe goes "LOLOLOL VADER IS LUKE'S DAD LOLOLOL."
Oh btw, don't you think Dark Souls is inspired by Berserk in some way? xD
Just a thought.
And never worry about bad grammar with me.
I'm only a Nazi on Tuesday.
P.S
VTMB is certainly up there with Planescape: Torment when it comes to sheer quality of writing.

I'm just about to head off to bed so I'll read and respond to that tomorrow as soon as I get a chance. I did see a question well I was scrolling down about whether dark souls was inspired by it, not sure but they definitely share similarities. If anything I think of Super Ghouls and Ghosts when I think of possible inspiration for Dark Souls.

So which one is your favorite in One Piece season one?

I like how the abridged series is constantly pointing out how everyone is cheating.
The power of cheating!
I haven't watched Evangelion in about 12 years so I can't really meaningfully comment on the level of depth in that. When I talk about having more creative freedom I'm talking about being able to show "messed up ****" like what me and Sim have been talking about with the manga Berserk. Watching GoT is a picnic compared to going through Berserk as far as I'm concerned.
Eh I thought Berserk kinda sucked also though, to be honest. A lot of the 'messed' up is kind of just tame in retrospect. For instance, <spoilers> I thought the first time oh my god the eclipse what a screwed up moment how is this happening. In retrospect though, most of the characters that died were kind of flimsy and it felt like they were set up to die beforehand, Ricket, etc. Plus, the band of the hawk was falling apart from really much earlier than the eclipse, many of the people had already died beforehand. I'd argue the more powerful and messed up moment was when Griffith rapes the princess, it's there when that tension between Guts and Griffith falls away completely and is replaced by Griffith the directionless killer. Plus, all the main characters survive the Eclipse at least, Casca, Guts, and Griffith, although each bears fairly deep scars and all, they still survive.
I mean, relative to what you see in anime generally or in media generally, sure, it's a lot more dramatic than that, but the limitations are there from my POV. Consequently, I'm kind of like... well... maybe Chobits (or whatever) has the edge on Berserk. It's not trying to be messed up, but it's just so cute it's hard to resist. The edginess in anime seems very contrived and manufactured for the most part. The heart though, is another story entirely.

Killing characters isn't what made the Eclipise an impressive moment for me. It's the simple fact that it was such a "wtf" moment without feeling it was trying too hard to be "wtf." Berserk forewarned you about it, you knew that something was coming. But never in your frickin' life would you have expected that.
