You haven't read lots of manga then. Most artists work with a lot of shades, or lighten up the picture by not saturating it with black, instead just adding black spots onto an image surface to simulate a less intense coloring.
But Berserk looks like someone spilled an ink pot over half the pages I've seen you post here. But that is hardly relevant, because I was expressing a personal opinion here, nothing more.
I love how he made Suzaku a likable character.
Suzaku.. likeable!?

Now I just have to watch the videos!
Finished Maoyuu Mao Yuusha (Demon King and Hero). It was quite an excellent show. It really delves into politics, economics, war strategy in a deep way and gives war scenarios a different approach than what one is normally in to. The romance aspect is also sweet. So anyone who are into that I would recommend to. I of course am no expert on these aspects, so it is possible it isn't as complex as I found them to be, so would definitely be interested in hearing what Chewin, Dean and simfam might think of the show since they seem to know their stuff when it comes into things like these.
Conflicted on what show I should watch next. Chaika seems interesting, but considering it will air its second season soon, I might push it til it has finished. Don't like watching shows on a weekly basis. Might watch Sword Art Online and enjoy it for what it is if I don't find something else.

This says more than anything I could ever write.

Anyway, to give a more serious response, it's basically how it's supposed to be. The inking varies from panel to panel depending on the situation or the mood.
Right now they crossed into what you'd call... err... sort of like Limbo from Planescape Torment or rather, a realm that is not their own. It's dark, it's gruesome and it's horrifying. The art reflects that.
And anyway, despite all of it, you cannot deny the sheer detail that goes onto everything. The only other manga I've read so far that matches it is Vagabond. And even then I think that Berserk's detail surpasses that. But it's not fair on Vagabond since its style is totally going for something else.

Watch the first half (seriously don't watch the second half) of SAO then watch Chaika when you're done. It will probably be near completion when you're finished.

Sh*t just go real.

ASOIAF is a political drama as well as a story about humans and the human condition. LOTR is certainly a heroic fantasy, but touches on tragedy and war too.
I wouldn't label ASoIaF as a political drama. While it certainly involves political components into the series, it's not a defining factor and ultimately portrayed in quite a simplistic nature. This is mostly due to the series centering mostly on its characters, with a number of them getting entangled into political events, but not what the show relies on.

This one?

I can see the irony in that pic. Sounds intriguing, though. Might give it a watch after I've finished Fate/Zero.
Sold.
yay! Go for it!

Yeah, heard the first half is great and second crap. We'll see though. I generally tend to be rather fast in watching animes, but I might start with it either way.
@Chewin
lol, ironic indeed. But yes, do take a look. I am sure it is right up in your alley of enjoyment. ![]()

Hehe, years of discussing the politics of ASOIAF have really warped my view on it xD
It's all I ever did in the ASOIAF fourms ><
But ultimately you're right. Compared to the Accursed Kings books, its politics is far simpler. Law, banking, the economy, agriculture are things it touches upon, but never covered into full detail.
However, at least it does know how to handle it properly. It isn't 'dumbed down' rather, it's just not the sole focus of the series.

Certainly. Don't get me wrong, the series handles its political side that it delves into quite well and has aspects which are quite astute and diverse in its approach, but as a whole it is not that praiseworthy as a lot of people claim it is. But then again, few people actually understand politics that well.

And I count as one of them.
Though I love the subject, I've only ever become familiar with it a year ago ![]()
So I might be talking out my arse here, but though its politics lacks where Accursed Kings doesn't, the intrigues of lords (especially Littlefinger) is written really well. There are a lot of things you miss out on your first read when dealing with ASOIAF, then you go back to re-read it, or discuss something on a forum and they'll point out some minor line that foreshadows EVERYTHING.
It's hilarious really xD you think to yourself "how the hell did I miss that?"
But anyway, ASOIAF isn't a discussion to be held here.
Saying all this though, I can't wait to hear your opinions on LotGH when you get passed Season One (where basically all the incompetent are thrown out by the competent.)
Suzaku.. likeable!?

I kinda like Suzaku more than the duche leluche.

Just wait until the new book comes out. Lots of people will be renewing their oath of fealty to the Lord of Death that goes by the name Martin.

HOLY **** WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEIR BACKS!?!?
Steroids. Just be glad they wear pants. You don't want to know what steroid abuse does to things usually covered by pants.
