Well on Thursdays I say watch a few hours of subbed anime(any show you like), and you will get used to it.
Maybe you will get so used to it, you will then have the skill to read on other days, like Monday or Sunday.

It kinda is plot relevant. The story can be pretty confusing so it's episodic at first to help you piece things together much easily. You'll see as you go on what you are seeing now does matter
