you can blame Kubo's slow writing on that. The anime purposely make some of the fights drag on longer to give Kubo time to write the Manga.
That's why the Bleach anime is temporarily cancelled. Kubo was tired of them making fillers that made no sense in the time line so he cancelled the anime until he's done writting the manga
That's how it is in Japan.They don't have " seasons " like here in America. Everything is just ongoing... which makes fillers inevitable if the manga isnt finished.
Still... it's quite annoying at times

Though Cal's transformation as a character was pretty cool I thought her appearance change was too weird. How do you go from a little girl to a full fleged teen in the matter of two years? Especially when Ein didn't change at all.
Soi Fon and Hitsugaya only lose against Aizen. and Rukia only looses twice in the show to Grimmjow and Yammy. the other fights she wins. the rest I agree
Wait... you're right. I thought Soi Fon lost against that one Espada but she just lost her arm. I vaugely remember Toshiro getting into a fight with an Espada, but I don't remember which one and how it worked out. Rukia's been in about four (cannon) fights and she's lost two. Not a good track record.
The fights do drag on. I'm not lying when I say that pink haired guy lasted over 15 episodes. I remember it because it pissed me off so much

Yeah.....I know he lasted WAY too long. I hated him soooooo much. That's why his twisted death was so wonderful. We owe this guy for killing this ****
As far as hitsugaya fighting an Espada, Hitsugaya beat Harribel (no. 3 espada) but then Wonderwise revived her. So technically Hitsugaya won that fight.

As far as Rukia goes....yeah she is 2 and 2 with her canon fight record.....but at least she fights and does something useful unlike someone I know who just yells Kurosaki-kun every other second <_<

true story tho I seem to remember this happening with his boss hollow mask on....
He was fighting Demon-Ulquiorra tho....so I guess that couldn't be helped

Bleach got cancelled thanks to bad rantings, that's all. And with the show gone, the manga is going down, really down in the rankings. So besides the fact he doesn't have the power to end the show, why would Kubo end the anime? That's like me throwing away my food money.
If anything he would want the anime team to make more filler episodes.

I'm curious, why do writers put talking during fights? To drag it out? To tell a story. I've never fully understood that..
