I wanna see the other MAPPA anime, the samurai one. Bahamut Genesis is visually praise worthy, and the main characters are pretty likable, but something about it just feels off to me.

Yeah. But then again they might surprise us. Having little in the way of source material might have allowed the staff to get creative. But that might just be wishful thinking.
