SnK answered one thing but now there's just more questions.

It answered what happened to Eren's dad, but didn't what Armin say imply that Eren's dad himself must have been a titan shifter then? So where did he get it from? If titan shifting power comes from eating other titan shifters, how does that propagate? And who was that female titan in the flashback? And was the flashback from Grisha's point of view because Eren ate him? (sure, I can pretend memory works that way...)

So now this guy is gonna have Historia eat Eren or something?

And why is Historia such a tool? (ok, that one's not really a question)

This is how I understand it.

Grisha had something to turn people into a titan as we saw with Eren(and I bet you that is what is int he basement). It's possible he was working on a secret experiment with the government(they do seem to know alot about Eren and such) I believe because Lod called it a sin that Grisha also injected Historia with it and she is also a titan shifter(she just does not remember it) and was the one who killed the entire family hence why Lod did what he did before he had her sent to the military with the name change. It's possible Grisha is in fact also from that village we have heard about hence why he had that knowledge. We know titans are indeed humans who lost their mind and where completelty fused with the titan form where titan shifters still regain their state of mind.

Pretty certain you could throw Chewin into an empty room with nothing but a table and a chair for 15 minutes and he would come out having written an entire essay on what made the room so colorful. 

 

Anyway, finished Angel Beats.

 

When I stopped taking the plot seriously and ignored the plot holes, I enjoyed it quite well. The humor had me laughing out loud several times (which happens rarely) and I enjoyed the characters a lot and the animation. Fun ride, but it should have been longer. I don't want a sequel, since the ending is perfect as it is IMHO, but should have had episodes to fill certain gaps.

 

Ok, Chihayafuru next!

I agree that no sequel or anything is needed. It ended the best possibly way. It's really the characters, the soundtrack  and art/animation that is what make AB a worthy watch. The OVA is the icing on the cake with lots of comedy.

How is Angel Beats! ?

 

It's on my potential list for gun porn and humor, but I heard it's plot could pass a test for swiss cheese with flying colors, so I am hesitant to try.

It is my 4th favorite anime, I've watched it all the way through 3 times. I would recommend it. The plot is coherent, but it breaks down a bit in the last couple of episodes with a couple of "lulwat" moments. It would have benefited from more episodes to explain things, it feels like it got rushed a little towards the end, I once read that a flood hit the studio that made Angel Beats! and they lost some work (I never looked into seeing if it was true or not), if that is actually true then it explains quite a bit. I am inclined to believe it because

the show originally was showing how the characters all died, but slowly moved away from that

. I think you should definitely watch it for the laughs and characters if nothing else. Also, the music is the best I've ever heard anywhere.

One of my favourite moments was when Akio (well, he's not called Akio but he has Akio's VA in the dub) was all like "pfft, you're lucky you made it this far" and then a second later you see him drowned in a pool because he couldn't swim.

 

I love stuff that comes out of nowhere. Spontaneous humour? Yeah, let's call it that xD

 

Kind of why I love Kondo-san cos everything he does is just "I did not see that coming."

really cracked me up, I could not stop laughing when he drowned. Another one that had the same effect on me was

I definitely love it when something happens and I don't see it coming, I've gotten so good at predicting things because they have been done before or it is how I would have done it. All of the surprises are one of the many reasons that I love Angel Beats! so much.
