Quite a shame that Fate/Stay Night was delayed by a couple of hours. Means I'll at very earliest will be able to watch it tomorrow after work if even that. Ah well, instead I'll have more Chihayafuru which will always be an amazing thing! About halfway through the second season now and it's very cool to see how Chihaya has changed so much in her Karuta and in the last episode I watched the viewer got to see her adding what she learned from Oe and take cards that her speed or hearing never would've let her.

 

 

It's like they actually managed to develop her character and make her grow.. through a cardgame It's achieved what Yu-Gi-Oh always tried to do.

The Slayers is a classic. Another huge contributor to what originally got me obsessed with anime. I don't know if I'd love it the same way I did as a kid, although I'm sure at the very least it would still be incredibly entertaining. I still remember lines from that show that make me laugh even to this day (it's being about 12 years since I last watched it too)

Indeed, she still got so much to improve but the only really glaring weakness right now is that she's possibly the worst at staying focused of all of the Karuta club. She need some of Mashima's mental strength to not let quirky or unimportant events grab her attention. Against Megumo she lost at least two cards for being too happy about winning 2 cards in a row. It's seeing her deal with these kinds of things that make up so much of Chihayafuru. I mean the episode where she will manage to stay focused for at least 50% of the match will be one really memorable episode

Slayers is the kind of show where the main character gets hired to defeat a monster terrorizing the town and she ends up blowing up the whole town in the process

Their mental states during the game play a role in how well they play too. I've seen Chihaya lose games she should have had the skill to win at her A game but she just couldn't concentrate or keep her game up. I like how they all have flaws and weaknesses with the game none of which necessarily win out over other qualities. It's all situational. Sort of like how Taichi can keep track of every card that has been played and that is left remaining (which is incredibly useful for the dead cards)

 

I don't know if you've gotten there yet but Chihaya is basically just struggling to combine the Queens and the Kings style of playing, which if she manages to pull off she'll probably be unbeatable.. The Queens speed and grace alongside the Kings ability to know what card is about to go into play just by reading the tone of the readers (which is pretty wild tbh)

This guy skill is so overpowered I'm tempted to call it cheating. I like how the Kurata officials hate him and want him to no longer be the master but he's just so much better then everyone else that fat chance of that happening

 

Even the people competing on the highest skill levels can't touch this mofo. I think it said that many of the players in championship matches will just give up against him at some point.

The last 2,5 episodes have been Chihaya Vs Megumu and they've been absolutely amazing. It's really the first time where Chihaya has been able to at least for some moments feel like she's grasping at what the Queen and Master do right. So far taken perhaps 4 cards by Shinobu's accuracy while taking about the same amount of cards just from the confidence Komano gave her for having 20 one syllable cards which makes her not "too" far from the Master. She's come such an insane way since the start and the changes really started to happen after Dr. Harada temporarily forbid her to use only speed to win.

 

One interesting thing about these last few episodes is that they've given me plenty of time to study Nishida and Taichi. Taichi just need to realise that he's awesome at Karuta and not cursed, that's his largest weakness at the moment. Nishida need to become much more even, he can crush an opponent just as often as he almost crumble facing an opponent with a lot of confidence like he do right now where I'm in the show. Really the one that impress me the most right now is Oe. She's so quiet that one could easily miss her and she has learned and developed a ton in the background. She understand the card better than anyone and with practice she's actually rather scary.

Oh I adore Shinobu a great deal as well She has mastered the art of snark and backhanded insults. I like how there's a large focus in the story about Chihaya's friendship with her. She also plays a significant part in Arata's development later that season too.

 

Nishida and Taichi are both great and two of my favorite characters. Taichi is absurdly good, I don't even think he realizes how good he's actually capable of being. One thing I notice is the doctor (Chihaya's mentor, forget his name) seems to have a great deal of respect for him as well, in a way that is a little different then many of the other characters. I get the impression he relates to Taichi more then you'd think just looking at the two.

 

Did you get to the part where Nishida and Taichi have their d'aww moment? I just like that Nishida calls Chihaya out on something she did that drove me nuts, and even better is how Chihaya actually ****** listened this time X3

 

Also did you see the "holy **** Desktomu 0_o" part yet?

Nishida did at least try to have Chihaya contest cards which she has done once so far. Then she reverted back to giving up again.. ah well! 

I still got half a season left so PLENTY left to happen
