Been watching Episode 1. It seems to be based on the Holy Grail War. The grail itself grants one prayer - like the triforce, but not quite as triangle-y. Seems pretty serious in tone and has a setting somewhere between dark ages and renaissance.Really need to check this out one day, because the fight scenes are gorgeous.

Finished Darker than Black. The only part which ever confused me was the technicalities of that Saturn-thingy which I'll just boggle down to magic and surreal story telling. But other than that, I'm really going to miss it.
Was going to head to Ergo Proxy then do season two afterwards, but since it's only 12 episodes I'll just wrap up DTB now. Might do Gaiden too if its dubbed.
Another LOTGH note.
What many (and by many I mean one poster who used to come here by the name of Storm or something along those lines) miss out is the factor of Space's size. So the entire nature of strategy is changed once you take in account that a charge (though in screen is around 2 minutes) might take 1 or 2 hours before the enemy is engaged.
This is why episode one's pincer attack failed because Reinhard used the size of his fleet as an advantage (he could travel quicker than the rest) and attacked each fleet individually. Something that would never work if we thought that it took seconds for each fleet to engage.
It's established early on that this is the case (with the whole four hours till arrive thing) but you can easily forget it later on.

Once all these douche-ass nobles are out of the way and the people with brains are pitting against each other, this anime becomes something completely different.
It punches holes in the democratic system, explaining why the current administration is so corrupt, whilst also counter arguing that it is the best system to live by...

Basically think that everything that you see wrong with the setting. Reinhard and Yang see it wrong too, and they do something about it.

As for DTB S2... it's become pretty clear I better watch those 4 OVAs first.

IIRC there is only one episode that's remotely similar to the toilet episode and the other one you and Chewin are fond of. So yeah, don't expect them types to come any time soon.
But that's from my recollection. I've already pointed out just how bad it is xD

So S2 is interesting so far. I'm enjoying this shadow war against the different intelligence bureaus in a hunt for BK201. Lots of questions still, and I suppose they won't be answered in S2, but maybe the OVAs?

I really enjoyed seeing Emiya in his assassin/black attire appraoching Shirou about living with him. It was a short (but sweet) reminder that Fate/Zero did happen and they are trying to build some continuity with it.
Agreed. Which I am glad that ufotable is doing their own version of Fate/Stay Night. This way there will be a stronger sense of continuation. Very much looking forward to how it will work with Saber. When Shirou introduced himself I liked how Saber picked up the name "Emiya". Really looking forward to how she will view Shirou in the beginning and reflect this on her relationship with Kiritsugu.

In general I could accept that. The exception here being I actually want to watch this show. More so to see how faithfully the animation and story matches up to the manga.
Well naturally that would create a problem, especially since I've heard NtT is rather good. Hopefully a better translation pops up, since I have a mind to watch it after it has run a few episodes.

It's almost getting a bit insane just how well Chihayafuru play its cards! Everything really is going the best possible way! The result against Akashi first girls' High School was great but what I really do love is that both Nishida and Chihaya, the class A players had the help of Oe, Taichi and of course Desktomu! Chihaya did so many things right this game and just like Megumu I believe both of them at least took 2 steps in their development and even Shinobu might have a bit a game on her hands at some point! Until then she can disapprove of human lungs and recite all the cards in a row
