So...

Hehehe.

YinxHei

To be honest, that's the last ship I thought of in DTB :D

I don't care how cool April and November 11 are.

Reezy, since you're here should I watch the OVAs before or after the second season? Because that's some character change on Hei's part.

The only question I should ask is concerning Suo's (sort of) inconsistency.

Spoiler

If I remember right, I think they go into this a bit more in one of the after-credits scenes. Basically, because Suou is becoming a contractor during her formative years, it's coming into conflict with her normal every day self. Also keep in mind too Amber's statement at the end of Season 1 about Contractors' ability to experience emotional growth. The Gaiden places this in a bit more context as well with Episode 3.

As you say, the Gaiden is really about Hei's transformation into the drunkard we see in S2.

My memory's about as good as a goldfish.

Good thing for you I'm gonna start them OVAs now.

As for the terrible thing. I just heard a lot of crap.

Might be people p*ssed off about some minor thing. I dunno.

I like it though.

Ah sh*t, just found out Gaiden isn't dubbed. Well time to hear Hei's sexy voice in Japanese then.

I think alot of this depends on your tolerance for Suou and Hei's transformation, the latter of which is pretty jarring if you haven't seen the Gaiden. Personally, I liked Suou alot and how they moved Hei into a background character.

When I finished Season 2, I couldn't put my finger on what I hated about it. I tried showing it to my brother after showing him DTB S1 so I could pinpoint just when my experience went sour. He kept asking me constantly "When does it go bad? When does it go bad?" so I assumed I was wrong with my first viewing. But on the rewatch, we both concluded it was about somewhere halfway into Episode 11 involving the Madame Oreille character.

It might not seem like alot of time, but from that point alot of weird stuff goes on, but without the emotional resonance of S1's ending. Basically, things happen but providing very little satisfaction. It also doesn't help that S2's ending would indicate the existence of a S3, which far as I'm aware is never happening. Just my two cents.

Well, just in time for the new AC game then, it seems. My timing is impeccable!

Personally I think both seasons had weak endings, with that Evangelion motivational moment in season 1 (well, everything about Amber isn't the best) and the sudden appearance of Golgo 13 and other stuff in season 2.

I think 'overarching plot' is one of the weaker points of the show, though season 2 gave that aspect a better effort and still fumbled at the end. Still like the show for other Reasons.

That's an interesting way to look at it (as you say, let's stay clear of S2 spoilers for Sim's sake). Personally I always kind of thought that Hei's "contractor persona" was more his attempt at acting the way contractors are expected to act. Almost like a facade. Looking at Hei's black Reaper persona, it's very much similar to how he acts during the South American Crisis, which (I believe) Amber points out was largely Hei's attempt at dealing with the atrocities he had to commit in order to stay near Bai.

Where other contractors might deal with certain physical and psychological ramifications from being altered by the Gate, I always thought in Hei's case it was more his mind/societal expectations forcing him into that role, which is why he seems to get so offended when Havok/Carmine points out how he's a very odd example of a contractor. It was one of the few genuine moments early on where he stops pretending to be either the Black Reaper or Li and exposes himself to others.

Exactly the ship I was going for.

Plus, she's such a f*cking babe it's not even funny.

Guess Yin makes for sense now.

Well... kinda.

Anyway gonna finish of the last OVA today then head to S2 again.

This is what happens when there is anomalies in your system of 'magic.' Far too many questions get raised. Just like Naruto where Chakra's become nothing more than simple magic. It used to have some sort of logic behind it, but now I've seen people replacing limbs with it (I gotta talk about the last few episodes I saw.)

I'm pretty much happy to accept that both Hei and Suo didn't attain their powers like other Contractors so they retained some sort of humanity.

I don't buy the whole "brain is still developing" crap since Suo's brother doesn't seem to have a problem with being rational and her buddy Tanya too. Tanya does look a little older, but I think that's just puberty and her huge t*ts since they're in the same class together.

Anyway, as for the focus being on Suo... well, I don't really see it that way. So far that is. It's alternated between the two, and the dynamic behind their relationship is what the focus really is about. It seems that (indirectly) Suo is bringing back Hei from sh*tty hole he's dug himself in since what happened to Yin.

It's episode 8 now and they've parted ways. Maybe now where the whole focus on Suo begins. Which I hope it doesn't. Suo can be as interesting and well written as she wants to be, but I've invested my time more with Hei than anybody else.

P.S

I don't like the way Mao/Mau whatever, has become the comic-relief character and that's it. Sure, he was funny before, but now they've just gone too far with it.

Still, it's not so bad that I'll sh*t on S2 because of it xD

But yeah, so far I've been really enjoying it, and apart from the Hocus Pocus Magic BS the only question I have to as is why July went off with Hei.

So, Naruto...

Yeah, surprisingly it's been good. The Sasuke Retrieval arc has had development for a lot of the side characters. Shikamaru proves to be awesome once again, and the rest are competent for me not to seriously facepalm.

Each fight has had them 1v1 these really powerful dudes and it hasn't been easy for them at all. I think (because it's alluded to, but this is Shounen so whatever) two have died in their struggle and two more are really having to use their all to even lay a scratch on these guys. So it's not just "we're the main cast so we win" sort of deal.

Each fight has been different and kind of interesting. So yeah, that's cool. But they drag on for way too long. I hate that, especially when they start f*cking talking and explaining just how awesome they are for doing x and y. This only works if you're JoJo because JoJo can pull of anything it wants to and do it with a 10/10.

Now, Snake Man has changed bodies and so I asked my buddy "the question." Which is "if this all it took for him to get his arms back, why didn't he do this in the first place?" To which he replied "he hasn't got his arms back, they're still sealed." Which is good. Unless he's wrong. Then it's bad. Waaaay bad.

Snake Man's number one fanboy Kiri-something (I'll call him Kira for short) has made an entrance. He has a nasty-ass bloodline limit which enables him to use any bone in his body. Don't know how that works, but hey, it's magic.

You could tell they weren't using their resources since Naruto did his replicating technique against him and poof they went.

So it was a solid 6/10...

UNITL LEE CAME!

F*CK YEAH LEE!

LEE IS THE BEST!

FUUUUAAAAARK.

Everytime this ugly-ass dude comes in... man things just become 8/9 out of 10. Why wasn't Naruto centred around this legend and his legend of a sensei?

Lee just kicked ass, the entire scene was f*cking AWESOME with his whole 'drunken fist' fight (he took sake instead of his medicine.) Kira looks like the chivalrous type because he gave him time to drink it.

Anyway yeah, Lee just f*cking rocked this arc out the park and Gai's explanation to Tsunade was hilarious.

The arc ended with a (kind of) twist with the Sand Dudes coming to the rescue and there is where I left it.

God knows how they found Naruto and company (this goes for Lee too, but Lee is god so all is forgiven.) But they found them. I guess Ninjas can track and sh*t so it's not so unbelievable.

I think I only got 10 episodes before the filler comes in. Then I'm just skipping that and heading straight to Shippuden to laugh at how terrible it's supposed to get.

Shinobu is just too awesome. She hits that sweet spot of being innocent and yet kind of a ****** at the same time which works rather well, sort of what you'd expect from a prodigy who's skills are naturally above that of those around her. Plus she is drawn to cute things which make me smile. I like her relationship with Arata. He's one of the few people actually capable of dealing with her in her own terms and I think they do a lot to help each other break out of their shells.

Your right on about Chihaya being the heart of the team. I think it's pretty obvious she's the main reason Taichi plays, and also the one who convinced Nishida to start playing again. I doubt the team would have ever even happened without her.

Sorry to hear you only have 8 episodes left. So you're finished with all the team matches then?

Think that is one of many reasons why I really do love her. She's by no means a bad person or even being awful to someone else. She just KNOW she's better than almost everyone in Karuta and she KNOW that even on a bad day she'll crush most people. She takes being confident to a whooooole new level and I'll be here approving all the way! And yes her liking cute stuff and the exact same kind of cute that Chihaya like is really awesome and make Shinobu be much more than just a karuta goddess. Shinobu is talent and hard work combined and it's really noticeable.

Indeed, Taichi wouldn't play without Chihaya and Nishida got his fire back thanks to her. Komano and Oe both managed to fall in love with Karuta thanks to Chihaya never giving up on them. Heck if one want Chihaya inspiring someone one only need to remember that Chihaya made Chitose give another shot at being an actress which she had all but given up on. That stuff is what will make Chihayafuru memorable with me!

They are playing in what I assume is the last one with with Shinobu in the crowd!

@Sim

It interest Isichar that doesn't usually like to watch sport and it makes your bro who love to watch most sports interested aswell. It really got what it takes to appeal to many different kinds of people. That and card games!

Seeing as how I'm like Isi and detest watching sports (they bore me to no end) I'll love to see how this keeps me interested.

Card games will be cool though. FF had awesome card games :D

But to be honest, I'll be watching that just for its romance.

I love me a good romance

P.S

Episode 11 of DTB S2... I'm not sure how to feel about the whole thing, I feel kind of conflicted. I'll talk more about it once I'm done.

Just a quick note since I'm at work.

Rah that is a great gif! *_* and I'd say you nailed it about the queen.

Sim you should watch 5 centimeters per second *evil laughter* it's only 45 minutes long and is freaking beautiful (animation wise) some of the best animation I've ever seen tbh and it's a romance.

Welp was at last able to get to watching the first episode of Psycho-pass 2. Overall a good solid episode. Loved Akane and how she not only kept her development from the first season, but is building from that. She's a badass now, but still has that soft, gentle side of her. Also like how ep1 mirrors some parts from ep1 of season 1.

My only complaint really is the villain so far. I know it's only one episode but it lacks that aura and first impression the main villian of season 1 had. I'll give this guy a chance but I doubt he'll even close to him.

5 CM per Second is over an hour long.

I'm pretty sure he meant Kotonoha no Niwa (the Garden of Words).
