Didn't you say it was weekly and changed to monthly before?

When we last talked about how cool the Magical Fairy was.

Was in Weekly Shonen Jump then moved to Ultra Jump which is a monthly.

PMMM (obviously.. XD) SSY, Kaiba and KLK are my favorites. Also anything done by Yuki in general <3

I could name about a dozen more that are also good. 999, Welcome to the NHK, Chihayafuru, Psycho Pass, Revolutionary Girl Utena and Fate Zero all had top notch tracks too.

Sh*t, yeah, there are tons.

Clannad has a great soundtrack that really hits it home with the feels. There are also the Openings and Endings of all these anime which are bloody fantastic.

*cough*

That closing sequence for SSY is perfect. So much hnnnnnnnnnging going on. I was thinking about Clannads music and as a whole the OST didn't stand out for me, it's just there are certain tracks that have a huge emotional effect on me so I'm a bit torn on where I'd place it. Still a good OST though. The 2nd opening and the Dango song are amazing though and I'd count those 2 among my favorite tracks in anime.

Yeah, you're right about Clannad. That's why I never mentioned it in my 'top of my head' post. Apart from the FEEEEELLLSS ones, the rest are nice, but nothing wow.

PMMM's soundtrack is consistently gorgeous all the way through though.

The monthly Jump being Ultra Jump.

Not Jump Square or V Jump or Monthly Young Jump.

Yeah I think the ost is pretty good.

Fits the mood of JoJo well.

And that's a hard thing to do.

Gintama > shounen Jump expect for when JoJo was Jump but now it's monthly so it doesn't count.

Anyway.

Speaking of Original Soundtracks, from the top of my head I'd say of all anime, these have the most memorable.

PMMM

Shinsekai Yori

Naruto

FMAB

Death Note (not that is was fantastic but I'll never forget L's theme.)

But I do feel that PMMM knocks them all out the part with its use of music. I never once got bored of PMMM's track. FMAB tends to repeat things a lot (but that might be because I've watched it four times this year) and the same goes with Naruto. PMMM, since it's short, really knows how to play with your emotions using music and its consistent through out the show.

I'm sure there are others that I've yet to mention or want to mention or deserve to be mentioned, but this is from the top of my head after a very painful leg day.

PMMM is easily my choice for best soundtrack. I mean it's what has been playing in the car on my way home from work every day since very late June and I'm not going to stop anytime soon. It's just not possible to get bored of a soundtrack where I ended up finding well over 30 tracks that all were more than good!

A lot of animes have 1-2 maybe even up to 5 excellent tracks, finding ones like PMMM, SSY or Angel Beats is rare!

Like SSY got probably my favorite ED track

I think you forgot this piece of genius, House.

SHHIZZZZAAAAA

I'm not sure if it's original or not though.

But damn, to hear Gintoki with so much emotion in his voice... dude, it hits that feel.

You can do anything. Doesn't mean you should.

I can try to make a serious, somber funeral scene and have clowns parade trough it.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't either. And your example is an extreme anyway.

Clashing tones, clashing visuals do hurt a show. But it depends.

Since it depends it means they do not hurt a show. They CAN, sure. But do they inherently? No.

The contrast between the so-called 'clashing' elements can help with the themes of the show. For example, all the cutesy holos in Psycho-Pass are part of how this advanced tech is used to keep the people placated while dominators are used to turn people into puddles of flesh.

Yeah, Puddi's right. Look at the Tachikomas. They were all fun and cutesy but never did they once interrupt the mood of GitS. They actually brought a lot to the table with their discussions on philosophy and whatnot.

Plus they were the real heroes :crying:

Errr... who else? Puck from Berserk is (sort of?) The comic relief of the show along with the other Elf who's name I can't remember, but they don't harm the sombre style of Berserk at all.

I get what you're saying, and you're right. They can just ruin the entire bloody thing like Jar Jar, But like Reezy said, it's not inherent.

Again, another example, PMMM. Everything is so f*cking cute in PMMM but it's one f*cking dark show xD and never does the 'moe' or whatever you want to call it seem out of place. It actually serves well as a contrast between the innocence of these girls and the price they have to pay because of said innocence.

Man, PMMM is just awesome.

PMMM is about as close to the perfect story as I'm ever going to get X3 anyways in regards to what lotion said I think it just comes down to the same thing it always has: context.

I agree with a lot of what Lotion says overall and I have similar issues with anime, although I think he generalizes too much and prejudges a bit unfairly regardless of context, but hey we all have our preferences. I have yet to watch SAO and yet I already am a bit bias against it so I'd be lying if I said I didn't do the same thing too.

I think there was this one a-hole from Claymore that got labled as the show's Jar Jar.

Claymore... now that's something that's been on the list for like, forever.

Err... I can't think of any more examples of cutsey things spoiling the mood. Maybe 'When they Cry' because ever nut-bag there is like 14, but that doesn't really bother me. They really get the psycho parts done well to the point where you're just horrified at what the hell is happening on screen.

Darker than Black Season 2 had Mao as a flying... something (it's ironic because this is actually one of the gags.) But I think I just liked him better as a cat because I like cats... so yeah, bad example.

Amagi Brilliant Park once again deliver a very enjoyable episode and I'm really liking Seiya as a protagonist. He's suck a narcisist and a punk but it really work so very well with everything around him. It really do have some nice characters going and I really do look forward to next week for more.

It's even managed to have the swimsuits out within 3 episodes! That surely will attract some attention

Look at those boobs.

It would be a sin against men and lesbians everywhere not to have a swimsuit episode.

I liked flying squirrel Mao. He even got his own theme.

At least that was what went through my head the first time this played... "Is he saying 'Mao'?" (the scene kicked off with Mao too)

But yeah he was cooler as a cat.
