Just kidding.
Here is what I actually think.
Not to forget the notable representation and focus on conventional / unconventional warfare. I must admit I was at first rather skeptical about how the show would portray its form of battlefield tactics and military strategy, since an occurring norm in shows is to try and portray them needlessly complicated just to look and sound impressive even though the actual solution might prove rather simplistic. This however (fortunately) is not the case with LOGH. The show features a variety in tactics and strategy and knows what aspects to use in a very coherent manner. Conveying complicated ideas and situations through simple means to me is a lot more impressive than the opposite and I am glad this particular show falls in the former category. It is quite magnifying how well the show handles the employment of a faction's military capabilities through high level and long term planning, development, procurement and more.
And of course the characters. I am quite divided on this regard, as I have posted previously. While naturally the narrative perspective on the main rivalry between Reinhard and Wenli is without a doubt brilliant, it is quite jarring that they alone ultimately provide the satisfying war scenarios. To claim that they alone run the battle scenarios is not accurate, but neither is it far from the truth. The show does portray its fair share of capable characters who gets a spotlight in the war (several which are quite remarkable), but it goes without saying that the show's primary set up on the Wenli / Reinhard conflict is accomplished by culling the unworthy in the early going while demonstrating the contrast of their competence against everyone else who are comically inept. It is one thing to have incapable nobles fighting on the front and another when you have war veterans and commanding officers fighting, which often begs the question what the hell they are doing and how in God's name they even got into that position in the first place.
I am not going to go delve further on Wenli and Reinhard as characters, since I could write a lot about them respectively, but in short I will state that they are both intelligent, pro-active, multilayered characters who are both represented in an astute manner and manages to use the "25 Character Traits Principle" smoothly. I have a hard time choosing who I like more since while they are quite different they also share many similar features, many which I admire in them both. I have never before been so divided between two characters to root for and everytime while watching the show I decided whose side I'm on, I end up changing my mind or being conflicted again as the show progresses and reveal more on the respective characters nature and evolution. This makes watching this show all the more juicy and I am glad such a key feature in the series is handled so astutely.
I am really glad I was recommend to this show (my appreciations to you specific individuals) since this show knows how to pull my jimmies in the right way. And as several individuals have pointed out, the show apparently gets better as it goes along, so I am definitely going to enjoy watching the rest of the episodes immensely.
